Great stuff, thxNice to see a competent O back at BC again. Jurkovec 17-23-300-2-1. Not sure if it was Jurkovec holding the ball too long on some plays, or maybe the BC pass pro isn't as good as expected, but Duke got 6 sacks and officially 2 QBH, but seemed like more. BC earned it, but that final is misleading.
Texas State WR #3 Haydel is really good. 3 weeks and 3 weeks of him making huge plays.
Keon Howard is no Justin McMillian.
The final was just 21-10, but Syracuse is way worse than 11 points. Syracuse had 171 TY, 69 came on a blown coverage TD pass. And Cuse FG was a 4p 6y "drive". Pitt missed 2 FGs and was SOD and INT'd in Cuse territory.
NC State D had 6 sacks
App State couldn't run on Marshall (96y 2.9 ypc), but Marshall only outgained them by 15 total yards. App St missed a 26y FG and fumbled into the EZ at the end of a 4th down trick play big gainer. App St also threw an INT in the RZ washed with Marshall SOD at A14.
UCF scored 21 4th quarter points to make it look a little worse than it was. UCF was 2-3 scores better, but probably not 4 TDs better. GT lost 5 turnovers (and had a 27y FG blk'd), UCF lost 2. UCF 14 pts off turnovers on short fields. UCF did outgain them 660-471.
UTEP is 2-1, but they really struggle to generate much offense. They do have a couple decent WRs and their QB can occasionally make a good throw, but they have beat SFA and Abilene Chrisitan by a combined 14 points. Abilene outgained them 308-293.
And still won? That's an eye-opener for sure!Reportedly LaTech was without 6 starters and 20 players total off the 2-deep (either due to injury, covid or contact tracing)!

“That first half looked like third half of the BYU game,” Niumatalolo said. “We couldn’t stop them and we couldn’t move the ball an inch.”
"We've had a lot of great wins over the years here, but I don't know if any of them are greater than that win,” Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo said. “It’s just a great testament to our players, their fortitude, their character."
Trailing 13-7 with 4½ minutes left, Tulsa had an opportunity to drive, score and win on OSU’s home field for the first time since 1951. Instead, within a span of four plays, there were three penalties. After a false-start infraction and a holding infraction, the Hurricane faced third-and-19 from its own 16-yard line.
“This is the ballgame right here,” ESPN’s Todd Blackledge said.
What happened next?
A penalty. TU’s 15th of the day.
Delay of game. Five more yards.
The Blackledge response: “This is getting hard to watch.”
The Cowboys lost starters Marcus Keyes and Johnny Wilson to graduation but expected to return Teven Jenkins, Dylan Galloway and Bryce Bray. The three combined for 35 starts last year, but Jenkins was the only one to make it to the season opener.
Galloway elected to retire because of injuries and Bryce Bray transferred to Tulsa after dismissed from the team for violating team rules. Jacob Farrell, another offensive lineman who expected to get quality playing time, also transferred out of Stillwater for the same reason. What seemed to be a solid group of offensive linemen dwindled over the offseason.
Tulsa tallied six sacks for minus-24 yards and 15 tackles for loss overall for minus-69 yards. The Cowboys started experienced linemen on the left side with Jenkins at left tackle and West Virginia transfer Josh Sills at left guard. Ry Schneider, who had six career starts, played center. Redshirt sophomore Hunter Anthony started at right tackle and redshirt freshman Cole Birmingham made his first career start at right guard.
The Cowboys lost Birmingham early to an injury and were forced to move things around. Redshirt freshman and former walk-on Jake Springfield and redshirt sophomore Hunter Woodard were plugged in on the O-line. Jenkins eventually moved to right tackle.
“We were playing musical chairs,” coach Mike Gundy said. “We had some guys go out, so we had to move guys to different positions to try to settle in to get the guys in there that have practiced the most.”
Super Southern Miss WR Tim Jones left mid/late 3rd Q (soft tissue lower body not believed to be serious). Up to that point he was having a fantastic day 8rec-160y-2TD.
When Jones went out SM was leading 27-10. His absence negatively effected the SM passing O (only 82y on 3 series after he left). SM did have a 1st-and-10 at the LT11 late 4th, but ran for 1y loss, incomplete pass and sack settling for a FG to only lead 30-24. LT went on a 17p 74y drive in the final 5 minutes with a replay review 4th down pass TD to win 31-30 (9 of final 13 plays were runs just wearing that SM D out).
To start the game SM drove to LT21 on opening drive, but went for 4th-and-7 instead of FG and were SOD. Next series, with the score 7-6 LT winning, SM opted to go for 2 on their TD out of one of the weird swinging gate formations with everyone on the left and 3 guys in the middle where they snap the ball and try to catch the defense with not enough guys. The only problem was that LT's D was ready and had 4 guys in the middle of the field, out numbered them and stopped the attempt.
Reportedly LaTech was without 6 starters and 20 players total off the 2-deep (either due to injury, covid or contact tracing)!
Frank Gore's son plays for Southern Miss. How many father active NFL players have their been with son active college players?
Re Duke-BC, any final is misleading when a team is -3 in fumbles and the officials turn a blind eye to clear PI on a pass that would have been a TD if thrown to a Clemson receiver. With Duke’s pitiful receivers, it might have been a drop, but Duke still earned a penalty that should have put Duke at Bc’s 20 trailing 9-7 late in the 2Q.Nice to see a competent O back at BC again. So it wasn’t home cooking. They were genuine infractions. Wow.Tulsa was penalized 15x for 120y vs Ok St ('19 they were called for 17 vs Ok St). Tulsa was the worst team in penalty yards per game in 2019. Bad start this year.
