Week 5 What Are We Learning

I retract my apology to Mario Cristobal who does indeed suck and I will not take it back until he proves something. You would think 8 million dollars would buy you a good coach but in this case it certainly hasn't. This team has a minimum of two losses coming and possibly more and I will never again be fooled by this program getting off to a good start to a season under this so called coach.

Its only halftime and maybe USC comes back but I continue to believe that Lincoln Riley is an extremely overrated coach.
I tend to think that the portal and NIL are having their intended purposes. More parity than ever

Schiano just keeps winning in the swamp at a job no one else has ever been able to do anything with. They should just give him a blank check or he will go to greener and less swampy pastures and Rutgers will go back to winning 2 games a year.

Lot of grabassing in the games so far. Makes me think that the conference season is going to be really competitive with a lot of close games, if not well played ones

Doesn't seem to be a problem for Georgia and Alabama who are in the championship hunt every year. There are a few programs where winning should be easy and USC is one.

Think they may just be outliers, and we'll see how the season unfolds. But you can already see that both of them have been impacted by the portal taking away their depth.

We celebrate DBs who cover well but we lament them because they cannot make catches, thus, they are DBs and not WRs.

Tonight we see one of the more phenomenal DB plays in a long time. A corner who not only blankets an oversized WR but reaches across his body to secure the ball and win the game for Alabama.

Simply, an incredible play.

And a true freshman at that

Purdue is on the brink of mailing in the season and Walters losing this team (and soon hopefully his job).

Natives are beyond restless

10.5 @ Camp Randall next week is about 2 touchdowns short given Wisky’s running game. I rarely talk about hammers/bangers/etc on one game but thank me later here. This will get ugly

Thats another coach that had no business getting the job in the first place.

UK’s defense is pretty damn salty and Stoops can scheme it up with the best of them. Ole Miss has problems on OL. They were down a starter at LT, but UK got more interior pressure than edge pressure. SC’s DEs are going to be a problem especially if Ole Miss isn’t healthy at tackle. Also Kiffin refusing to play his best RB is confusing as hell. We’re about to find out if he can hold a locker room of mercenaries together.

Colorado and Deion are polarizing, but that was a pretty damn good win vs UCF. I was impressed with the defense. They played hard the whole game and never relaxed. You see teams all the time, relax with a big lead, but CU kept the foot on the gas.

As long as Shedeur and Hunter are healthy, they are going to have a punchers chance.

Yup, despite all the noise that was an impressive win.

On a side note, KJ Jefferson doesn't and never has had the look of someone who should be playing D-1 QB. He doesn't have the look of someone who should be playing D-1 football at all.

Is this the offseason that FSU finally moves on from Norvell and brings in Deion. We all know its just a matter of time and I think this is going to happen after this season ends.

Always said right coach in football makes all the difference. Look at Indiana. Urban almost won a nc at Utah on his way up. Look at Kirby at Georgia. Coach is everything. In college they gotta recruit and coach. Anyway sounds like max wager on wiscy. They looked good 1h vs usc. Got away from them in 2h. But they'll be ready for a rout if they can.

Yeah 34 33 for like 30 seconds. Then that bama freshman wr caught 70 yard td and they hit 2pt. Georgia threw pick in endzone to end game. Bama d completely collapsed 4q.
Bama effort reminded me a lot of Patriots-Falcons super bowl. It's like some teams get so excited that they put all their energy into the first half and then get gassed.

Arky may have leap frog'd Aubbie in my "DB's that hold" ranking.

I gotta wonder - did Bentley do something to get in the dog house? Henry Parrish is ok but he wasn’t 100% for much of the 2nd half. Matt Jones is a former walk-on and fairly limited in what he brings to the table. Or is Kiffin just an overrated narcissistic idiot when it comes to making in game decisions?

nebraska showed up half asleep, with a coach who's m.o. is being a horrible favorite, missed 3 field goals, played like shit, and still walked away with a 20 point win.

Wisconsin will be showing up motivated, and ready to atone for some losses in a get right spot. Badgers by 28 sounds on point. purdue has to be worst power 5 team going.

not sure if anyone's noticed, but iowa's dbs can't play the ball this year. The iowa offense is improved but the defense is vastly worse. Troy was throwing explosives over there heads like the dbs are fcs guys.

The ohio state wideouts should have a field day. Think tosu covers that 44 by themselves.

Going up that big that fast against a team that doesn't quit turns the game into something completely different. UGA started going for it on 4th down in the 2nd quarter. Think they were 3-15 on 3rd down for the night, but 7-7 on 4th. Obviously that would never happen in a normal game, but when you know you are going for it on 4th, the play calling changes drastically on 1st through 3rd downs. I do think Alabama got away from bringing pressure too much in the second half, and the offense also struggled by dialing down the aggressiveness. Lessons learned hopefully. But give UGA credit for not quitting like a bunch of teams would. And they are one of the only teams that could come back from that deficit.

GA did a great job of adjusting their edge defense which got thoroughly trashed in 1st half especially with the empty backfields and Milroe making all the good runs. I was surprised that Alabama didn't adjust themselves in 2H and try and run more inside the tackles. Alabama also did not do a good job with pass rush in 2h, gave Beck way too much time.

And this week the Illini will be very motivated as well, after last year’s 44-19 loss. And Bielema has an excellent ATS record with extra rest.
