just played Charlotte, Toronto, and New Jersey.
detroit off a W, toronto in a very very winnable game imo and they have improved. Toronto on a 6 game lose streak, but each game was competitive, I think it'll be the same here
Charlotte off a loss and are another team quietely improving. I was actually surprised by this line being under 7. Memphis has 29 losses this season- 3 would have covered this number. I doubt charlotte loses here. bell and wallace are good defenders on Memphis's only scorers
New Orleans- west and chandler are doubtful and there may be hangover off buzzer beater. Jersey have rest and should come with a maximum effort here

also looking at GS 2m, revenge game to avoid losing season series to oklahoma city. GS been really improving lately. I've won all 3 GS/OKC games this seaosn, and think the zig-zag for each team winning continues

cleveland hasn't lost 2 in a row all yr, I just bet cleveland. I believe they are also 8-0 ATS off a loss. Oden probably high on himself off breaking out, and he has been responding to big games with bad ones. He hates floppers- meet varejao. Ben wallace couls limit Oden. Roy still a bit hobbled, and Pav is physical enough to frustrate him. and then there's sergio defenindg mo williams, and a rookie on Lebron off a loss. portland won't win the rebounding bettle for once

First pick is Portland. Have not bet it yet as the line is getting better.
Why?
Start with revenge. Not the bogus garbage some mention. Revenge comes when you are beaten by a large number or when you are beaten at home. This is revenge. They lost 84-83 at home to Cleveland. They were leading by 6 points entering the 4th. Just a young team that got excited. They have played together in many tough spots against many top teams since then. The truth is the situation now is much worse for Cleveland then it was last time.
Cleveland lost at the Lakers rebounds were 41-44 Lakers
Cleveland lost at Chicago winning the rebounding 44-43
Cleveland lost at Washington the rebounds were 35-52 Washington
At Miami another loss 33-42 Miami
They are playing at Portland.
When Boston played and lost at Portland we saw a 5 point win for Portland and the rebounds were 44-29 Portland.
Rebounding percentage for the teams for the year are .519 Cleveland to .529 Portland. No Z who had 13 the last time the teams played.
Honestly find this game a little boring. Cleveland is 1-4 in its last 5 away.
Portland is 15-4 at home. Cleveland is 11-8 away.
The Lakers have lost their last 6 trips to Portland. Cleveland is not doing any better today. Could spend more time on this but since I see it as a non issue why.

agree completely tuck. everyone just thinks that because portland hasnt been rebounding as well lately and that cle is going to bounceback from their loss. read someone cle is like 7-0 ats or smth after su loss

the last time these teams played, Cleveland won at home 88-80, Z was not in that game.
The game you're referrring to was in January of 2008, the second to last game they played eachother which was a full yr ago. Of the 10 players that started that game, only 3 will start today (lebron, roy, aldridge)- I do not consider this game a revenge game, and I use the term revnge game pretty often, but not to talk about the 2nd to last time two teams met which was about a yr ago in the reg season.. This is still cleveland off a loss and are 7-0 ATS this yr off one. Rebounding:
vs New Orleans won 42-40
vs charlotte: 41-33
vs chicago- 51-42
at minnesota- 44-36
at dallas- 52-35
vs atlanta- 41-37
vs charlotte- 46-34
yes cleveland has not been playin well lately on the road, but I don't think, and this is just my opinion, that its because of a lack of ability, but more lack of effort which happens when you're towing through opponents. The loss should get their heads in it

Right, the bounce back. They bounced back against Dallas at Dallas when Dallas was in its 3-7 su period. They bounced back at home against the Bobcats twice. The Bobcats who are 5-11 su on the road playing at Cleveland. OK. They bounced back vs Atlanta who had lost 4 of their last 6 and were playing at Cleveland. They bounced back against the Wolves on the road before the coaching change. Loud clapping. They bounced back at home against Chicago another victim team. And they bounced back in a Major revenge spot at home against NO. It was at home and it was the only game that showed anything.
Played the Bobcats minus 6.5. Really not much to say. Bobcats are steadily improving and the Grizz are road weak and have a 1-9 ats record last 10. Will leave it to others to find value in the Grizz. Will say this. The Grizz are what happens when management simply does not care. The coach lost this team a million years ago but the owner will not pay for a replacement so the spectacle goes on.
Oh by the way Wallace and Howard both in bounce back mode for the Bobcats.
SF Capper. I certainly do expect Portland to win this game but it really does not matter Because it is not a capping issue. This is Clear action and not something worth debate.

Like the Bobcats play so gl to us on that, but my point was that cleveland has bounced back and you can't help the schedule. they are undefeated ATS which should take into account the quality of opposition. Yes it was charlotte/minnesota/chicago etc, but are you implying that just because it was cleveland and they were weaker teams it is a given that cleveland will cover? I can see the argument from the standpoint of SU victories, but that Cleveland not only won but covered and slaughtered the teams they play off a loss show me something.

Good health then man, altho I do think discussing/debating thoughts on why others can consider each side a play is helpful, is a capping issue, and is the purpose these daily discussion threads are made

Sf Capper, look I am not trying to tell you what to do but you might consider slowing down on the speed you make bets at. One of your first bets was Toronto. They are still on that man killing no rest streak. They covered against Atlanta last game scoring 84 points! Its vaguely possible the cover came because of those early injuries to Atlanta and that Toronto is completely out of gas. If you take some time and look at the game logs of the Pistons you would see that they have had consecutive ats covers 6 times of 2 game length or longer and only twice this year have they had single ats covers. Have you looked at what happened to Atlanta and Dallas after their losing streaks broke. Why are you leaping to bet against Detroit?

i'm liking the UNDER 224 between OKC-GS: opening line was 218 and quickly jumped to 224 because public see that GS is 13-5 Over at home and think that both team have no defense, thus leading to a high scoring result, but by digging the stats i love the UNDER:

OKC is 6-0 UNDER with 2 days of rest this season (182,7 pts in average)
UNDER is 2-0 this season between both teams (214 pts scored and 207 pts scored respectively: average of only 210,5 pts.
Only 2 win among the 13 win of GS have gone over 224 this season and GS is expected to win as a 5,5 pt favorite.
On the road OKC is averaging 200,3 pts and GS at home is averaging 222,7 pts and 222,7 +200,3 / 2= 214 pts well below the 224 pts.
Over the last 5 games, OKC is beginning to play defense "only 95 pts allowed"

How could they have lost at home by 1pt this year when the only other time they played this year was in Cleveland?

Tuck,

You never even acknowledged that you were wrong about revenge angle that SF pointed out. You thought the Portland home game was this year. I would hope you realize that East vs. West only get one home game apiece each year. I also believe he locked in the Raps because he saw line movement coming and you know what? Go look at current line, he was right! And everything is worth debate, even games you don't care too, it helps consider issues others may have overlooked...

GL on your action 2nite...so far we both like Bobcats and I'm leaning no play on the much debated cavs/blazers tilt...

If anyone has an Andrew Bogut injury update it would be appreciated, also the various heat/celtic injuries...thanks...

Not arguing with the idea of your play, but I wanted to point out that the public doesn't have the ability to drive up a total 6 points in the opening 2 hours. Bookmaker put out a bad line and the sharps crushed it. Most public bettors figure out which game is next and bet causing more late movement. Certainly not always true, but a general rule.

Will say this one more time. It is a revenge game. The revenge has nothing to do with the game in Cleveland and everything to do with the game they were leading by 6 points in at home in the fourth and lost. Revenge occurs when you are beaten by a large amount and when you are beaten at home. This is the second. It only ends after revenge. does not carry an expiration date.

Most of Miami's road games against quality teams ended poorly. At home they did well against Cleveland and the Lakers but I am not convinced Kobe was trying to win the game. They did not do well vs Atlanta, Spurs, Houston and Portland. They are better now and the referees seem to favor home dogs by a 17-10 margin. Boston certainly knows Orlando is dreaming about them and wants this game badly. Some questions as to how well Marion will be able to play. I think Boston is playing well right now and should be favored. Later when Jones is available and possibly Morning this could be very interesting but right now Boston's big 4 are better than the Miami 3. Miami is still playing better than previously and while I expect a Boston win am not convinced they cover. Just a walk on by game. Maybe a half time play but the Heat are good enough and those referees are slanted enough so i do not see any percentage side action.

Tuck, Kobe wanted that one. Don't know if you saw the game, but he was pretty mad about them being behind and was upset with himself missing that shot. He wanted it, but just was unlucky a bit.
Not that I'm saying that Heat should be the play, I'm leaning Boston, at least as a ML combo...

NP, 2 more. Clippers first quarter plus 4.5. Call it tradition.
Lakers at clippers first quarter Clippers second
30-27
27-25
29-21 When this game happened the clippers had just won 2 home games vs Utah and the Grizz and the spread was only 10. The last 4 games home and away between the Clippers and the Lakers the Clippers have covered in the first quarter and the bigger the starting spread the more likely the cover seems to be. Lakers off a major win and the Clippers not exactly showing much threat.
OKC plus 6.5
GS seems to be improving and I do like the team butlook at the last 4 games
First they beat Indiana as a small home dog. Indiana was 7-3 su vs them before that game. Then they lost as small favorites to the Kings. Kings are now 4-6 against them last 10. Not a game they were concerned with.
Now a win as a home dog against Atlanta who had won 5 of the last 7 against them with the last win by 16. They wanted that one
Now a win as a home favorite against Washington. The 2 teams last 20 are 10-10. Washington the previous game had beat them by 24. They wanted this game.
They are 6-4 last 10 against OKC. In OKC's last 4 wins the margins were
7
5
4
4
Not seeing any revenge motive here or any reason to take the game seriously especially in terms of a large win.
OKC is playing on best rest 2 days 5-1 ats record and coming off a 10 point loss which is very good here.
Referees are 9-16 ats for the home favorite in this range.
Cleveland is the next team GS plays.
Through 2007 Cleveland is 4-1 against them. Last game Cleveland beat them by 15 and is a National VIP team. I think they are looking ahead. GS is still 3-12 ats as a favorite last 15 and OKC has still covered as a dog in 13 of their last 15. So I took 4.5 first quarter with the Clippers and 6.5 with OKC.
There is one possible problem that just occurred to me with the first quarter bet. If the Lakers really intend to take it easy on the Clippers today they may come out hard. Just one of the things these teams do. Something i may have to think about. GL

I typically do not make my plays at open, but yesterday I had nothing to do in the morning, so I did all the search I normally do, but this time before the lines came out. I certainly don't think I rushed making the plays, after looking at each game, I made my likely picks, assuming propoer lines which I got. I believe in hitting up lines at open because I believe these are the "softest" lines in that books can afford to throw out a 'wrong' line because it takes less money to move lines early than before games as a way for cooks to orrect their mistakes. However, on this game you are probably correct, and I may buy back a unit or two, esp if this gets down to 5. I still believe that Toronto covers my line, but with a lower line and some growing uncertainty, I'll consider hedging a bit. I am in a rush to fade Detroit simply because they have not impressed me in any game this month and thought the line was suggesting a decisive win while toronto has at least competed and are still hungry for a win. Bosh bitchin out moon I think can help, just as having hamilton off the bench for the first time could hurt detroit. It also could help detroit, but consideirng its the first time they're trying it, with no practice/game trials, I can't imagine that it works perfectly immediately, and for now just creates confusion

Just a run through of rotoworld updates for tonight:

C.J. Watson back tonight for the Warriors
V. Carter says he's good to go and his ankle feels better.
Calderon out again.
JO expected to play against Detroit, but have his minutes limited.
Tony Allen is out
Perkins expected to start.
D. Lee expected to play.
Camby out two weeks.
Kobe going to play despite his hand hurting from the dislocation. Don't be shocked if he doesn't though (from my mouth not theirs)
Marion sat out practice but expects to play.
D. West and Chandler both listed as Q, but not expected to play.
K.Durant's status worth watching as he missed half of practice.
AK likely out vs. Houston.
Carlos Boozer is still a little bitch.

The Clippers were down 7 with about 1.40 left to play in the first period. Coincidence?:smiley_acbe:
