With Jason Bay in the lineup, the Red Sox have scored -

2, 12, 5, 3, 8, 8, 3, 6, 5, 5, 19, 8, 10, 1, 4, 6, 7, 6, 8, 0, 6, 7, 11, 2, 8, 8, 2, 7, 5, 8, 8, 7, 3, 4, 2, 7, 1, 7, 4, 13, 4, 3, 3, 3 & 5 run totals.

_7 totals of 0-2 runs
10 totals of 3-4 runs
28 totals of 5+ runs (62.2%)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Since winning their 10th game straight on September the 9th, Toronto has gone 5-8 SU (3.69 runs/game), and is 1-5 SU off a win.

Since July the 6th, the Chicago Cubs are...

- 41-8 SU in games which they've scored 3+ runs (30-18-1 to Over)

- 1-17 SU in games which they've scored 0-2 runs (14-2-2 to Under)

Chicago's last 16 games of offense -

14, 3, 3, 4, 3, 5, 6, 5, 2, 7, 6, 5, 5, 9 & 2run totals.

2 totals of 0-2 runs
4 totals of 3-4 runs
9 totals of 5+ runs

Since the All-Star break, Florida is...

19-11 SU off a loss (7-6 SU off their last 13 losses)
12-19 SU off a win (9-2 SU off their last 11 wins)

They play Wednesday off a loss on Tuesday.

at first glance

big Z at plus money always deserves a look

carmona and garland may also have value
carmona mainly because red sox has officially eliminated the yanks
garland mainly because angels now have their full bats in the line up

MIN-CWS

Leaning over, no leans on the sides.

One interesting trend though.

MIN game 2 after a win 18-11
CWS game 2 after a loss 7-14

Blackburn good at home but terrible both of late and against CWS
Buehrle good this month but terrible on the road and against MIN

Over seems a bit too easy with the total sitting at 9.

Still looking at it.

Oakland got to rest all their relief stars. Texas manager publicly talked about beating them to come in second in division. I like Oakland.

Thinking under in Baltimore

Liz 3-0 to the under after 12 out of his 13 games before that went over, obviously found his control, teams coming off a doubleheader, thinking Jackson can contain this O's lineup and Liz has been great of late...TB not that impressive racing from behind in both games getting some big shots...may not get them again here.

The line is 10, going towards 10,5 due to pitchers' reputation.

IMO it's too high.

LOL - coming 2nd in the only division with less than 5 teams, and all the while you're guaranteed a losing season record. Like that has any meaning whatsoever.

I'll give Texas one thing - they've lost less road games this season than the Red Sox or Dodgers, 2 teams going to the p.s.

Twins 17-4 at home vs LHSP . They have won 11 straight since losing June 28th to Parra 5-1 . There other losses two were shutouts and the other 3-2. Pretty safe UNDER to DOG trend if they lose ....as a hedge

LAD fade SD away vs LHSP and ride LAD facing a LHSP . Best of both worlds and -1.5 RL is probably fine but Kershaw usually goes just 6 innings

Like most of what has been mentioned. Uncivilized play on Tampa mentioned here. 35 cents to play Tampa vs Baltimore after watching Anaheim lose and knowing Anaheim may well lose Wednesday as well. Edwin faced a much tougher Baltimore early in the year. Like Edwin on 4 days. Like the ump and like it being a night game.
BC the point of mentioning the managers remarks was to make clear this game is very personal. Right now its Texas 11 and Oakland 7. Oakland is now the better team and they remember 11 yesterdays.

tuck - my observation was only a pointer towards the delusions of the TEX manager. Anyone with a clue wouldn't mention something so meaningless.

I remember how Cisco used to post that every TX series at home has had at least 1 game go over. Went back on blankets and verified that. Does The Streak continue?

The very first home series vs. Baltimore did not have an over result. Since that time, at least one game/home series has gone over.

O.K. WTF is wrong with this picture?

The total in a game that Livan Hernandez, the same Livan Hernandez that has a WHIP of 1.74, and Jonathan Sanchez, the same Jonathan Sanchez with a WHIP of 1.43, is currently 8.5, and was actually beaten down from it's opening number of 9.

I....I...I guess I really don't understand baseball.

MIN-CWS

One interesting trend though.

MIN game 2 after a win 18-11
CWS game 2 after a loss 7-14

Of those games mentioned above,

MIN won game 2 by at least 2 runs 14 times
CWS lost game 2 by at least 2 runs 12 times

:seeya:

Playing Devil's advocate here w/o any research -

Figure Sanchez is better at home much better while COL offense does slip considerably on the road . I know the Rockies went through a funk recently at home vs LHSP struggling to score after a fairly solid stretch vs LHSP. Not sure where they stand on the issue of facing LHSP especially away . One guy who say midseason was able to WIN both his starts @ COL was......you guessed it Jonathan Sanchez . That I recall off the top of my head . At time when the team was something 13-5 at home vs LHSP the Giants had won both his games at Coors .

So keep that in mind . The other is I commented and its just an opinion is that Livan Hernandez at least at this stage despite his rubber arm but be best served pitching every 7 days or so which I believe is here because didnt he win 1-0 last WED at home vs SD ? The real key I know about Livan is one of the teams he does very well against historically is SF and one park he pitches well at is Pac Bell ....

Also last night the total was 7 with 2 solid SP but one has some ROAD issues and the other is Idiotically being overworked in SEPT to get a shot at the CY YOUNG award . In the era of pitch counts and wetting yourself when a guy gets to 100 pitches they have this possible future star and I say possible if they dont ware him out and ruin him throwing 115 + starts a game and throwing I believe in consecutive starts a 129 and 138 pitches ...uhm WTF are we thinking here fellas ? An award or our future ??

So bottomline is both SP might be in spots where they can be successful o have been in the past . I want to look at this game more now . Very key for me in how SF hits is if Sandoval plays . So look for his name in the lineup .

Have to work on this one ....good commenting though gets me interested in things I may overlook ...:shake:

BC,

Remember that Gene Washington was also the former third base coach for A's. IMO, his meaningless statement can only incite the opposition! I'm going with "Eggland's Best" to start the day!!!:smiley_acbe:

Scratch that side, as I think I may have laid an "egg' after I looked over the A's lineup vs Harrison as they are combined 4-18. I am leaning at the under six again for first five. (Last night I got a push instead of win, but this total is 10 1/2 not 11!)

O.K. Fair enough. Then please explain to me why the line has plumbeted 40 cents since opening? I LOVE betting Sanchez in this spot and I LOVE fading Livan, so I am questioning why the line has dropped that much.

Thanks.

tuck - my observation was only a pointer towards the delusions of the TEX manager. Anyone with a clue wouldn't mention something so meaningless.

BC - I agree its LOL humor when you read something like that . Is he is trying to motivate his 10 year old summer league team or something ? I mean one could understand a manager trying to sell his team on some motivational ploy to finish the season strong but wow that is really sad . Problem I notice with coaches in baseball is that almost all of them just keeping passing down the same mentality of cliches and simplistic thinking that was developed in the 50-60-70-80's . No wonder it wasnt till 20 years ago that baseball started opening up to strength training and weightlifting .......

Tuck- Looking @ Oak myself . The way I see it seems they opened up Texas short here . I know Harrison is off a bad start but he also pitched a CG shutout @ Oak prior to that . Was thinking Texas would be more like -135/-140 here . Harrison beat G.Smith 7-0 @ Oak catching +120 so less then -120 opener at home vs at best an equal pitcher seems soft to me......

Total 10.5 ??
-A's 231 away vs LHSP and .171 L10 games
-Recent A's homestand faced 2 LHSP Harrison and Saunders . As i said Harrison CG shutout and Saunders went 7 scoreless allowing only 6 hits .
-Last road trip faced Robertson and Waters . They won 3-2 @ Det and 11-2 @ Balt . However BALT game misleading it was the 8run 8th where they did nothing literally but walk ! Waters was decent allowing 2in the 5th and 1 in th 6th, 5.2 inn 3 runs 5hits but Nate went 7inn 4h 1 r.
-Won 3-2 @ home in xtras vs Liriano 3-2
-Previous roadtrip won 6-5 @ Saunders as he was shelled allowing all the runs in 1.1 inn , won 5-1 @ Seattle vs Washburn who was solid 6 inn 3run 7h , Lost 7-5 @ Seattle Feieirbend who was solid going 5 inn 5h 1 0bb 5k , won 2-0 @ Seattle Rowand -Smith who was also good 7 inn 1 r 4h , and lost 3-1 @ Liriano.
-At home lost 2-1 to Danks and beat Kazmir 2-1 .

So last month they have struggled offensively but managed to go 5-2 away vs LHSP. Also on 2-3 at home . They hit 1 SP in those 12 games Joe Suanders @ LAA.

Excluding the 1st time they faced CC early on which they won and hit him they were 4-14 away vs LHSP .
Scoring :
0runs - 3x
1runs - 5x
2runs - 4x
3runs - 2x
4runs - 2x
5++runs - 2x

Of note why ? In all 4 wins they went UNDER : 4-2 @ Det , 7-1 @ CWS , 5-1 @ SFG , 2-1 @ CWS.

In there recent turnaround winning 5 of 7 away vs LHSP to make them 10-16 all season remember didnt include CC's 1st start becuase he was terrible and un CC like in April .

Those 7 games some improvement :which they have won the last 4 away vs LHSP
3 11 6 5 5 2 1 -

Still though 3-2 win , 11-2 win with 8 runs off a pen who allowed onl 2 hits in nearly 4 innings of work , 6-5 when they beat up Saunders , 5-1 @ Seattle , and 2-0 @ Seattle ...so they are 3-2 UND in those wins and if not for a pen implosion would be 4-1 UND ...anyway at 3-2 that means they are 7-2 UND in there 9 road wins vs LHSP as the 10th win I am not weighing (CC start)

So even though I lean OAK it does seem that the UND is the correct correlation . Especially knowing Texas has issues vs LHSP as well and in day games . Eveland has been solid since his AAA return and wen 5 inn allowing 3 runs vs TExas at home and Harrison has 2 solid starts including a GC shutout recently @ OAK ....Oly cons I see are the Texas home series over run and the fact this SP both faced there opponent arther recently......

Also just to back Tuck up here as he was just simply relying information read this -

Texas (75-81) vs. Oakland (74-81), Monday, 7:05 p.m. CT
By T.R. Sullivan / MLB.com

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

<!--sphereit start-->ARLINGTON -- Second place will be at stake when the Rangers host the Athletics in a three-game series beginning Monday night at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

The second-place Rangers are a half-game ahead of the Athletics in the American League West, and Texas manager Ron Washington wants to keep it that way. Washington made it clear that it's important for the Rangers to finish in second place.
"It's the season, as far as I'm concerned," Washington said. "To finish second after the start we had and the adjustments we came through ... we need to pull this thing together and finish this thing with our head up. It would be a big disappointment if we don't finish second.
"If you are a competitor, if you don't finish first, you want to finish second. It doesn't make you feel good, but at least you didn't finish third or fourth. We have the opportunity to say we're second in the standings. It doesn't matter what our record is. If we have the opportunity and lose it, that's going to hurt. We may not be the best team in the division, but we are the second-best, and we don't want to take that away."
The Rangers will be trying to finish higher than third place in their division for the first time since winning it in 1999. They have finished fourth in five of the last eight seasons and third the other three times.
"It's important," said pitcher Kevin Millwood, who is starting on Monday. "It's important for us to shoot for something. We know where we're at in other regards, so it's important for us to have something to shoot for. Everybody believes we're the better team. To let it slip away at this point would be very disappointing."
Pitching matchup
TEX: RHP Kevin Millwood (9-9, 5.15 ERA)
Millwood is 0-2 with a 7.50 ERA in three starts in September after going 3-1 with a 2.76 ERA in four starts in August. He is 3-4 with a 5.20 ERA since the All-Star break while missing time because of a strained groin muscle. Opponents are hitting .312 off him, including a .352 mark by right-handed batters. Millwood has a career record of 3-3 with a 3.61 ERA in 10 starts against Oakland, including 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA this season.
OAK: LHP Greg Smith (7-15, 4.09 ERA)
Smith, a rookie from LSU, is 1-3 with a 5.76 ERA in his last five starts and 2-8 with a 5.16 ERA in 12 starts since the All-Star break. He is 5-8 with a 3.96 ERA in 17 starts on the road despite a 9.00 ERA in two starts in Arlington. Smith is 0-2 with a 7.15 ERA in four starts against the Rangers this season. He leads the Major Leagues with 15 pickoffs this year.
Tidbits
Rangers hitters have a walk in 65 straight games, the longest streak in the American League. ... Milton Bradley snapped an 0-for-17 streak with a ninth-inning single on Friday. ... Hank Blalock is 14-for-40 (.350) with four home runs and 11 RBIs in his last 11 games. ... Kameron Loe (bruised right forearm) and Joaquin Benoit (shoulder inflammation) still are unavailable out of the bullpen.

9 's are high for West Coast night games but where do you see such a plummet ?

I see 9 U 115 as the opener and most books at 9 u120 maybe 1 or 2 at u125....

Again just playing devil's advocate .....

9 's are high for West Coast night games but where do you see such a plummet ?

I see 9 U 115 as the opener and most books at 9 u120 maybe 1 or 2 at u125....

Again just playing devil's advocate .....

Sorry. Should have been more specific...Playing tru's advocate, you made good points about Sanchez. So, taking those into consideration why would the line DROP from -136 to -120?

Bet under 10.5 last night after reading trends at covers especially as I do not believe Texas can score much vs Oakland. Just like keeping things simple posting 1 side or 1 total at a time. Hope both hit. GL
kind of a simple soul. when I see all 4 key relief pitchers rested and a reasonable starter I just bet them.

So in the past 2 years (3seasons) he pitched at SFG 5x . All 5 went UNDER , All 5 were quality or high quality starts , most were lined 8.5 , one 9 and one 7.5 vs Lincecum. At Coors the total was only 9 in a rematch with Lincecum but always tough facing the same team twice in a week especially a soft tosser like him. Also 3rd in less then a month could be an issue as well ...

Sanchez has 3 very quality starts in 2008 vs COL and also only one was at home . He has two 3-2 scores and 4-0 score . At home the total vs Jimeniz was 7.5 then 9.5 twice and 10 most recently at Coors ....

So 9 under vig seems fair to me looking at everything ....really 8.5 ov -120 is probably where it should be ...

Maybe that helps out some .....

That does, nut. Thanks...

Still perplexed as to why the line has dropped to -120. It's Livan for fuck sake...

Thanks I played OAK ML and then smaller plays on +1.5 and Under 10.5 ...

Just fear Harrison :

All I can think of is guys wanting to take the under 9 as a value play and lose that when it falls to 8.5 ...Th emore I look at it the more I think 8.5 over vig was the correct number . Both SP have success and 9 is a tad high when you easily could be looking at 4-3 game after 7 innings ...

Like I said I just started off playing devil's advocate and recalled both SP had good opponent history to fall back on .....Not sure I get involved at all ..

Just noticed how poorly Sabathia has done with this ump. quick look at Pitt pen is depressing. Burnett seems solid. Capp pretty good but Brewers pounded him recently. Sabathia going on 3 days rest twice in a row with a ump he has problems and a monster spread calls for something. Took Pat ml and plus .5 plus 50 cents first half. Nothing so far on the game.

wow in texas..so much for oak the pen.. that loss hurts..

Kick in the balls ! That hurt is right .....

Looks like it could have been as simple as just playing UNDER 5 OAK runs at even money and hope for the best in the 9th inning ....since OAK showed a pattern of scoring 5 or less all season vs LHSP on the road .....

:shake:

MOTHER FUCKER! THIS GAME STARTED EARLY?!?

Fuck me! After two unders, I told swayler I was hammering the over, but I didn't think it went off until tonight!

Since when does Texas have afternoon delight get-aways!

FUCK ME!!!!

This little incident will basically sum up my MLB betting year:

I LOVED the Over in Arlington tonight (oh, wait! this afternooooon), and told swayler I would be hammering the over last night.

I don't know how many afternoon home games the Rangers have had this year, but I'm guessing you can count them on one hand.

BUT, I missed it.

AND INSTEAD, I played 3 other games individually that added together are approximately the same size bet I would have played the over in Arlington had my head not been up my ass. Those plays are Toronto, Minnesota, and San Francisco. I threw in a smaller play on the Twins RL for good measure.

Just watch and see how these go, now, boys. Just watch.

Fucking A....

is it weird that i get more upset because i fail to pull the trigger on shit i have a gut feeling rather than losing a bet.
