Should have followed my instincts last night and played that total over in Baltimore...

I'm going to tomorrow

San Diego at home vs lefthanders this season - God almighty....

15 totals of 0-2 runs (68.1%)
_3 totals of 3-4 runs
_4 totals of 5+ runs

- on the 4 occasions they've scored 5+ runs, they've faced pitchers who carry the following road ERAs for this season - 2.40*, 4.53, 6.13 & 7.59.
Randy Johnson's road ERA is 3.24

*In the instance of the best ERA they faced, they only scored 2 ERs in 6 IP vs this starter, getting the rest vs relievers.

- since the All Star break, SD has scored 0, 1, 0, 0 & 1 run totals in home games vs left-handed starters.

- SD is 1-9 SU, averaging 2.60 runs/game & carrying an average losing margin of 3.33 runs, in their last 10 home games vs left-handed starters without Jake Peavy as their own starter.

- SD has not had a win by more than 1 run as a home dog vs a left-handed starter this season.

Saint Louis is 0-7 SU their last 7 games, and 1-9 SU their last 10 games, vs Milwaukee (and 0-6 SU their last 6 home games against them).

Finally MIL is 9-2 SU vs any Cards pitcher other than Wainwright (who they are 1-2 SU against).

“They’ve been tough on me,” Sheets said. “For a lot of years they were the better team, especially early in my career. We’re as good as them, if not better.”

Ben Sheets spelling it out.

Was a little stunned to get 65 cents on Carmona. Certainly no lock but who would you take even up tomorrow in that match?

Considering the ownership the Tribe has over Verlander, this is a crazy line. I really like Cleveland to continue their hot streak. Indians should never be a dog against Verlander with Carmona on the mound.

Put in a parlay. WS to Angels. Baltimore is largely toast now. 2-8 last 10 at home. 2-8 last 10. 3-7 last 10 at home vs lefties. No pen. No starters. Weakened hitting and no pride. WS need seperation from Minn and need to get Danks back in action so they will take the game. Oakland is closer but they have Minn at home Thursday. Since 2007 they are 3-7 vs Minn. Think they save their relievers for game 1 at home after looking at their starter.

God damn Timmy the Kid at -250 vs a hot Rockies team? The Giants have left a shit ton of RISP the last 2 nights. I know it's Livan but there's a lot of value on the Rox here...

Couldn't disagree more. Livan is the cure for all ailing offenses...

"And he shall be Livan
And he shall be a good man.
And he shall be Leeeeevan"

Half unit play. Toronto ml plus 88 cents. Looking at Purcey in the minors in his last 5 starts I see 2 road games. 13 innings 3 runs. Toronto is 4-9 vs Tampa this year and they have seen Garza 3 times this season. They have 5 games left vs Tampa and are 7-3 last 10 on the road. I see strong motivation, real ability. Will I hit lightning in a bottle? find out tomorrow.

Another frustrating night started terrible and closed pretty well SD & Over , Sea & Under doing well for me but hurt myself even touching the LAD and SFG games ...

Losses can be good - I learned Balt and Pitt are gonna have tough times beating playoff caliber teams .

Cubs ML - Marquis has been solid in the day and versus Pitt . Not crazy about road chalk in a sweep game but Duke has a 7 daytime ERA and there pen is toast . Cubs are just rolling ...just a lean but hard pressed to find any value in Pitt

Arizona ML - Avoid the sweep situation . Unit has been very solid and surrounded with tough Luck . Baek has been decent of late and even won @ Zona . Problem for SD is they dont hit LHP especially at home .....UNDER as well looks solid...

Twins ML and Over - Basically Twins lost 2 close games 3-2 and 4-2 and have done well vs LHSP where Rowland Smith is tons better then the youngster and he pitched well out of jams . perkins faces them for the 3rd time in a few weeks and the same thinghappened both starts he crusied through 5 inn maybe 6 the 1st time and then got his ass handed to him ! Series was crazy with OVERS before the last 2 which went under ...13-1-1 OVER L15 prior..SEA pen abit worked although Smith went 7 and Corcoran finished with 2 .....

mets ml and Under (maybe 1st 5 inn)
Price is high but mets blew a 7-0 lead and have there Ace on the hill. His pitch counts have been high but Philly is off 2 long extra inning games in 3 days with a so-so pen and didnt Monday off where pelfrey at least went9 inn...

Over Yanks ...Giambi has hit some MOON SHOTS vs Byrd this season and he has struggled vs NYY in the past . Yank swung well except Arod killed every rally . Its the same shit he gets up with 1 out RISP makes out leaves Giambi to bail him out and Giambi takes the 1st pitch and almost always happens to be strike 1 and right away Giambi is in a hole as well....like clockwork ! Do I touch the Yanks ? They seem to alway slose Game 1 so maybe Ponson can steal one but he sucks vs Boston thouh moreso @ Fenway and to be honest there lineup was SHIT today ...maybe 1st 5 inn over ??

WSox ML - Danks has been solid all season especially on the road. Only hate he appeared to tire last start vs TB and at times goes only 6 inn with a weak pen behind him. Liz should get hit hard or walk a ton of guys and allow timely hits...so probably another over play here...Of note WS lost consecutive Danks starts just once in 2008 and he is off a loss and that was vs NL teams ...

Und @ Det ...Carmona seems t o be getting on track and verlander has been solid at home in the past vs CLE ...???Lean only

Und @ TB : Garza has owned Tor this year allowing just 1 run in 3 starts and Purcey I think is solid but allows some HRS and TB lineup unscary to me

Can LAD Stop the slide ? Wash hasnt seen Maddux in years so most of them havent seen him ever....crazy though to pay a premium for them now

Astros -1.5 RL and over possibly ? Th eline is absurd as Houston is a medciore team in every way . Howeever Oswalt owns the REDS and seems to be rounding into form while Fogg has a terrible history vs Houston allowing at least 6 runs in the past 5 or 6 starts vs them....

Love KC ML -
Harrison is the weakest Tex SP they Royals have faced and LH as well. Plus he hasnt done much on the road yet . Bannister if you look at 2 of his past 3 starts outside of the Yanks debacle very , very good outings for 8 and 7 innings ...think even as terrible as KC is they are cheap here ......Feldman had a good trck record away and Millwood was off a CG 1 run effort ..

Love STL ML-
I played STL Tuesday and for all the wrong reasons . Simply though they would get payback after the sweep but 12-0 is embarrassing ...Now you go from -120 with Wellenmeyer vs Sheets to -150 with Wainwright vs Parra ...uhm sign me up ......
if you will pay -120 to fade an ALL Star vs a journeyman who has been good to his credit then makes sense to pay -150 for an near All Star vs a youngster who is the equivalent off a journeyman having a career year or revival...

LAA -1.5 RL -
Just hope Vlad returns .....Saunders off a bad start , OAK terrible vs LHSP away and terrible wat socring with this UMP behind the dish think 1 run his past 4 games and they were HOME !!! maybe an over not sure Gio can handle a good lineup although thats questionable for LAA at this time....

1st 5 inn Over @ SFG and maybe SF-1.5 ....
Livan has stunk and Lincecum should be tough if he does his thing Col should score 3 or worst where if Livan keeps getting knocked around then 5+ seems likely but have to wait for lineups as SF and offense are still scarce plus Livan enjoys facing them.....So just leans as these will be popular plays......

BOL!

Since July the 22nd, the Atlanta Braves are...

- 11-3 SU in games which they've scored at least 5 runs (13-1 to Over)

- 0-19 SU in games which they've scored 4 runs or less (10-8-1 to Under)

Since July the 6th, the Chicago Cubs are...

- 29-3 SU in games which they've scored 3+ runs (23-8-1 to Over)

- 0-11 SU in games which they've scored 0-2 runs (10-1 to Under)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Chicago's last 32 games of all-or-nothing offense -

10, 6, 2, 2, 9, 6, 7, 7, 11, 0, 5, 8, 0, 11, 11, 3, 3, 6, 10, 8, 11, 6, 1, 9, 5, 1, 3, 5, 9, 6, 12 & 14 run totals.

_6 totals of 0-2 runs
_3 totals of 3-4 runs
23 totals of 5+ runs (71.8%)

After some thought I have no idea what correct action is in the Padre game. Arizona simply sucks away on Wednesday. Randy has had trouble with this umpire. Randy worse a bit in the day. Padres are showing some life here and Randy has a losing record in the day and away. Still he has shown the ability to go a good 7 innings and Arizona has 2 rested quality pitchers and Padres have been grim for the most part as has their starter at home. Arizona not an option for me but am willing to listen to discussion.

I guess does SD know how to close the deal for one ? They have 1 sweep all year at home vs NYM which them won 3 times 2-1 and the last game Wagner blew it allowing a HR to Clark sort of flukish IMO and they won 3 straight two other occassion in 08. Which since the homestand ended where they swept NYM they are now 22-42 SU. They have lost 9 straight vs LHSP and are 2-10 since the break which the win was Peavy @ Maholm which a 1-1 tie was blwon by Pitts pen in the 9th and th eother a DUke 6-5 win which Pitt had just unloaded there stars.

vs LHSP since Break and last win :
L2-0 vs Zito
L3-0 vs D.Davis
L5-3 @ Johan
L6-3 @ Rusch
L7-1 vs CC
L1-0 vs Moyer
L2-1 vs Hamels
L7-6 @ D.Davis( 4runs last2 inn -only 2 run 7h in 6inn vs Davis)
L4-3 @ Zito

Whether crafty or fireballer when its a LH results have been the same ..

SD 4-16 On Wed and 11-29 in Game 3 . They are 2-9 at home on WED in 08 Maddux and wolf winning 4-1 and 2-1. Makes the UND look attractive add on Unit 17-4 L21 away starts...Baek 1-7 at home getting 2.88 run support .

Unit L2 starts vs SD 12.1 inn 6h 2r 2bb 17 K

His past9 starts Zona is 6-3 losing twice when he was $2 dollar favs and slight road chalk @ Hous vs OSwalt ...

59.2inn 49h 16 r 13 er 7bbs to 57Ks 6Hrs

One concern he Kd 13 last time out and thats been alot of pitches so at his age how does he bounce back off 116 pitches?

On the surface everything seems in line for him to be successful as he is solid form facing a team who has been shutout 3x recently at home and scoed 1 the other two times ! In those 9 starts opponent scoring was 2 or less in 6 with 3,4,5 in the others ...3 on a 3run 1st inn HR by Wiggington which he blanked them afterwards , 4 in a blowout @ Philly and 5 when the pen blew it but only 1 of 3 he allowed was earned.....

Also for the UND both SP recieve little support=Unit 3.25 away and Baek 2.88 at home...

Kinda threw out Randys 1st start vs SD as it was just his 2nd of the year but to be fair his bext start was vs SD and was included as a good start by me....

Zona only 2-8 away on Weds but Webb and haren 2-4 , Owings 0-2 , Unit 0-1 losing @ Boston in IL and Davis @ COors recently....

Not sure how relevant Marvin Hudson is for either SP . Baek was terrible vs Cubs but it was his debut I believe in SD and only 2 Unit starts the 08 one @ Minny who is like unbeatable at home vs LHSP like 17-4 so far plus he wasnt pitching like he is now......

Home dogs are
1-5
5-5
3-0
4-10
past 4 seasons..13-20

Baek already outdueled Haren @ Zona then lost in the rematch can he win another vs Zona as huge pup?

One knock is Zona 2-7 L9 times Unit on normal rest ...
Sd 11-30 L41 after scoring more then 5 runs
Sd 16-36L52 vs LHSP
Sd 15-36L51 games 3s
Sd 17-45 vs teams with winning record
Sd 7-16 L23 at home vs a LH
Sd 8-22 L30 Weds
Zona 22-5-2 L29 with UNIT on normal rest

Zona doesnt hit much in the day at 239...

Zona 34-18 in division

Probably better case for an UNDER as BAek has been putting forth solid 6 and 7 inn efforts .

I just cant see the value in SDwhen they have scored 2 runs in the past 5 at home vs LHSP facing a guy who is on hi sgame lately......

Price is high but it has been all series ..Peavy home dog , Webb 230 and here....Isnt Unit the toughest matchup of three for SD ?? best form of the three and LH......

Its marginal to lay -200 here and Unit has failed as big chalk but usually he follows Zona wins or consecutive wins where here he is trying to be the savior ?

How bout NYY trends ??
2-8 L10 vs teams with winning records but 11-4 L15 vs losing away records
47-17L64 Weds
15-5 L20 Wed at home including 8-3 in 2008 including 7 straight WINS and 2 with Ponson...Ponson as Yank on Wed 3-0 and 4-1 all season....Byrd 0-3 away on Wed and 0-4 all together in 08.....

Red Sox 6-14 L20 away on WED and 3-9 in 2008

4-12 vs NY on the road on Wed since 99...

Just some BS info......

What does everyone think about the over in Cubs and Pitt. Marquis definitely hittable and Cubs should hit well off lerft handed Duke.

If Cleveland's lineup has owned Verlander and Carmona has been doing well, why are we seeing this line? Similar situation to the Braves line yesterday.

I believe after last night's results:

the Giants are 1-20 SU the game before Lincecum's last 21 starts, and are 4-23 SU before all his starts this season.

Amazing, really.

Need to dig deeper, but definitely lean to the Over. In addition to the pitching matchup, you've got Tschida BHP. He's got some pretty strong numbers in favor of the Over, especially of late.

Let's be honest. Braves should have been an "L". We got flucky.

My Panthers/Eagles under bet two weeks ago should have been a W. I got screwed by a pick 6 with 0:11 left in the game.

Speaking of this game though, does no one expect Florida to bounce back today after blowing that game last night in the bottom 9th?

I'm not even posting any plays today...i feel like I will be ripping off SportsNut....I agree with every play he has haha....really wanted to take every dog this afternoon but just can't see any of them coming in...Maybe SD if anything but I don;t want to throw any money anyway....cant wait for college football tomorrow though....

Should have followed my instincts last night and played that total over in Baltimore...

I'm going to tomorrow

I just want to take the time to say thank you to you. After about of year of trolling theses sites you might be the very first person I've seen type "should have". I can't tell you how many times I've seen "should of". Drives me up a frickin' wall!

If Cleveland's lineup has owned Verlander and Carmona has been doing well, why are we seeing this line? Similar situation to the Braves line yesterday.

I think if you look closely and that indivual starts Cle has not owned Verlander . He has been in extreme mode vs them. Actually its more home v away . At home 4 very solid starts in 5 where last 5 at the Jake torched...

Pretty interesting stuff when you look @ Verlander season. Take his past 19 starts since he started giving consistent more vintage efforts . He has allowed 2er or less in 13 of them(basically going 6+ inn had 2 bordelline ones vs the NL going 5+innings) and twice he went 7 inn alowing 3 and 4 runs which is very solid as well. He had 4 bad starts in this run actually all in arow. His opponents WSox twice , @ Jake and then Tor off a 130 pitch effort 4 days later ....WSox actually own him and well I just showed the issue @ Jake......

Price seems about right on paper ...
figure Verlander would be about -130 on neutral field circa -160/-165 at home...

Now they opened it higher then it probably should be which based on the fact CLE is smoking HOT is curious ? Why get stuck with uneven money at a high payout on a medium sized dog?? Especially since your risking 100 to win +150 you can really bang out a mispriced dog where its gonna take more risk to bang a mispriced -170 favorite.....

So curious for sure ....part of it is remember they are pricing the game based on 2008 not the past 10 days ......

It's not easy to sweep 3 consecutive series either ....All in All I still dont see CLE streak as impressive they have 4 wins {3 @ Texas and 1st game in DET} they probably should have lost at least three of them {the 1 run wins} ......Will they be inanother close game and have a team fail to execute .......??

His good starts 27inn 16h 10r 9 er 9bb 27k in 4 of 5 at home vs CLE

CArmona to me ??? His past 2 starts are very solid but also 2 offenses who were struggling and the line @ Texas looks good but warning sign to me is 109 pitches in ONLY 6 innings...He had to be either falling behind (not throwing strike 1), struggling with command ( working counts deep) or struggling with crispness of pitches (having alot of pitches fouled off) .....

With Carmona having good history vs Det although last start was to avoid a sweep I believe and in the day after they had blown the game with Cliff Lee still smells like an opp to look at under even if just 1st 5 innings considering the pens and BOTH SP ability to run up 110 pitches in 6 innings or so....

As for a side if the price was being "overlooked" and not continually bet down then I would see value in CLE. With the obvious market mentality of CLE being overpriced as the price has dropped and probably safe to assume in this instince clearly more Cle bets and money then Det , its a slippery slope ....

Would hope to get Det -150 at home or even cheaper and make it a play ...No reason why Det cant win a 4 or 5-3 game here .....at least at -150 your implied odds are 60%.....whichI think are very fair for this situation...

Also factor in Det suddenly having alot of trouble with LHP think after Lee they have 8 of 10 at home vs LHP including 5 straight and we are talking some weak names....well checked since the break 2-7 vs LH at home and 3-3 vs RH while they are 8-8 away vs RHP and 3-3 vs LHP....alot of road games are KC 5-1....

Actually questions are good cause they get the mind rolling or at least my warped one....Just noticed this is a rematch of the 7-31 start which I misquoted as an avoid the sweep game but was actually CLE looking to split a 4 game set of the tough loss when lee was staked a BIG lead and blew it....that day Verlander was about -140/-150 @ the Jake where we have figured out it a house of horrors for him ( we know Verlander vs WSOX home or away is BAD and @ the Jake is BAD) ....now we get a 10/15 cent difference but him at home where he is Night and Day statistically ........usually I allow minimum 60 cent difference for reversal of home field (implied value 30 cents ...one team subtracts 30 cents and the other would gain it ..)So if -145 was correct which it wasnt then we could see -210 apprx here but since that was to high probably off by 25-30 cents(figure -120 as correct that day ) maybe even 60cents had Carmona been 100%..your looking more at -175/-180 for this game ......

Where did Pinnacle open it ? -179

So check that we get a game that should be big picture -175 and its -160 ...with betting market against us ....??

I will be on Det ML .....

Of note I did originally lean Florida yesterday but I agree that line made no sense as well. Why take a position with a bad team ? Meaning you have to expect to have more money on FLA and vulnerable to some big money as again medium sized dog easier to drop cash on then it if its a favorite for obvious risk factors. So seeing Olson struggle on the road , be in the midst of like a 7 straight start losing streak and BC pointing out how FLA has struggled to string together wins I rode ATL. Also knowing ATL had just Hampton and Morton on deck . If they didnt win here it was gonna be tough on them the next 2 days ....of course I cursed myself to the b8th for switching but in the end I had a reason to switch and it worked as opposed to just talking myself out or off something and switching.....

I think VERY important and something Tuck really showed me in 2008 was the "power" of understanding how series lineup . We may have differing logic on how to apply at it times but its great to look at what is going on with teams and who they matchup against next few days.....

So yeah my LEANS are now DET ML (strong) and UNDER (maybe 1st 5inn only)

I dont care at all. Do what you want . I know you mean it jokingly but I dont care about that type crap..

Scary that foots is here already ...I think I may employ the theory in the NFLx finales of any teams with good QBs (backups of course as in 3rd string more then 2nd string) to play overs and if they dont then play Unders....Just seems that bad offensive player always look more helpless then the bad defensive players ....just a thought ...

CFB ...I just get MLB on lock down know I have to learn 2 more sports ? :36_11_6:HELP ME !!

GL DBBFL...we often share the same thoughts and plays ....do what works ...:shake:oh and glad we thinking alike today !!

Some more tidbits ...

Tribe as road pup +125 to +150 3-9 and +150 to +175 2-5

Tribe this year on the road with 9 or 9.5 totals 3-12 (none this trip all DDs except yesterday 8.5 ) (also makes them 25-26 away the other games)

Tigers @ Home with 9 or 9.5 totals 20-15 (13-15 other home games)

Tribe on Wed 6-13 / 14-5 OVER as well

Tigers on Wed 13-7

Tigers Home laying 150 to 175 9-11 but 14-5-1 Over

Tribe away on WED L5 straight and 2-7 all season(6-14L20) also 7-2 OVER

Tigers 6-2 at home on WED: losing the 1st ,winning the next 6 then losing the last 4-3 . Most common SP Kenny Rogers is 2-2 , Galarraga 2-0 , Verlander 1-0 and Bonnine 1-0 ..5-3 Over ...
13-7 L20 at home on Wed 9-2 since last consecutive WED Home losses the only occurrence past 20 ....

So alot of "small" trends backing DET up but making the UNDER at least full game scary....

Thats 6 career starts 3-3 , faced CC 2x , Paul Byrd 3x who has ahd a good deal of success vs DET , and would imagine that CLE in 2007 had alot tougher team then eith DET did in 06 or 08 ...reg season I mean...

7inn 4x and 6inn 1x = 34inn
Runs allowed (ER) 2 3 2 2 1 = 10
10bb 32 K.....

Carmona 11-9 for Tribe L20 away (9-9 reg season though) and he was favored twice @ Det in 2007 (like verlander was @ Cle in 2008) . Problem I have is Carmona faced Mike Maroth and Jar Jurrijens when slight road chalk and they won 95 or so games . This year its so clear they overvalued DET with the new additions now that we look back as Verlander was favored vs Carmona both trips in 08 -125 and -145 recently...

3-3 away for Fausto beating Harrison and Tomko plus my Yanks / Pettitte .

ure a good man sportsnut....i start to focus on football more than mlb when it starts....but anyways I am off to see the Yanks-Sox game....I will be home later tonight....

SportsNut: Verlander is no bargin at -180, Det is 2-8 vs Clev last 10 he started. Danks -180 on the road vs a team that can hit i imo a bit steep. Dimuro is the HP ump in Philly & the home team is 20-5 when he calls the game. The ret look good to me, jus leary of those 3. GL on all ur action today & always.

Think this is a poor description of the situation. Have not heard anyone claim Cleveland owned Verlander People have claimed that Cleveland is playing much better than Detroit which is obviously a fact. They could claim that Verlander's last 2 games which looked good were against very soft opposition. Now no one knows who will win that game till it is over but we do know Cleveland has been the better team and that betting on Verlander has been negative cash flow. So most of us like the idea of taking real plus money on the better team and a good pitcher.
I guess the real question is determination. If you bet against a team 3 times in a row and lose than is it mandatory to do it again. Not for me. Have a fixed rule that if I bet against a team twice and lose I am not allowed to bet against them a third time till I have bet on them at least once to avoid bias. I think it is a very good rule.
By the way the days of the week angle is real and stopped me from making this a 3 unit bet but Carmona has won 5 in a row on Wednesday.
The 109 pitches you mentioned did interest me but not to much. He has twice been lit for 6 runs by Texas in the past and the game was in 93 degree heat which a Cleveland pitcher is not used to. He had 5 k's and 3 walks. Not seeing a problem.

any ideas on this az/sd gme

Well talked myself off the Cubbies ML early and onto the 1st 5 under 5.5 but that went OTB as I tried to submit it . So just sat that out . This I am not sitting out ....

Want to see the LINEUPS...

Gonna be hard to pass on Zona here and already played the UNDER 7.5 ...

Short story-

L5 home games vs a LHSP at HOME SD has scored 1 run 2x and been shutout the other 3x which I believe they are 4-1 UNDER in . So thats 2 runs in 5 games TOTAL . They have lost 9 straight vs LHSP since Peavy oudueled Maholm @ Pitt 3-1 but Maholm went 8 solid innings allowing 1 run and think SD is 2-10 vs LHP since the break also beating Duke 6-5 that series ...

So with that offense they are facing big Unit who loooks like VINTAGE Unit lately . L9 starts he has done well -taken from last nites post

His past9 starts Zona is 6-3 losing twice when he was $2 dollar favs and slight road chalk @ Hous vs OSwalt ...( so saying he lost when he was high priced and @ Hou when he was overpriced , not sure what he is here though to be honest , high priced but also off LOSSES as opposed to Zona wins other times as $2 dollar favs)

59.2inn 49h 16 r 13 er 7bbs to 57Ks 6Hrs (basically 1.5 ER / 2R in 6.2 inn on avg)

One concern he Kd 13 last time out and thats been alot of pitches so at his age how does he bounce back off 116 pitches? He has been throwinga 100+ lately though and Zona pen has some options though Lyons is scary recently ...

Only 3 x did he allow more then 2 runs and 3 @ Houston he allowed a 1st inn 3run Hr and was very good afterwards losing 3-0 vs Oswalt , 4runs @ Philly but believe last few came in the 6th or 7th and Zona had a nice lead by then so maybe just throwing strikes nothing fancy at that point , other time was recently vs FLA they got 5 runs when he started but off him only 1 of 3 earned and the other 2 off the pen as he went 7 innings.....

So Randy looks good lately and LHP huge issue for SD especially lately but all year .

In the day Zona hits just .239 which is a plus for the UNDER ...

Run Support = Baek 2.88 at home and Unit 3.25 away

Baek recently has been solid going 6 or 7 innings

SD only 249 in the day : they have 4 guys who have good day avgs think Kouz , Giles , Gonzalez and maybe Gerut check that but 3 are LH hitters and Kouz only 260 vs LHP...so that may be negatated where the rest of the SD players are 240 and below in day games though Headley has hit LH well his day splits ar not good , Hairston has 10 Hrs vs LH but all solo ?? only 14 rbi !

SD 4-16 on Weds and 2-9 at home : wins Wolf 4-1 vs LAD and Maddux 2-1 vs Lilly /Cubs(which was the strat of 4 straight 2-1 wins for SD)

Zona struggles on Wed away as well think 2-8 on weds ..

Bunch of stats / trends listed in the post from last nite on this game . No need to repeat them again.....

Basically go be on Zona and played the UNDER 7.5 . What I play for more is the question.....BOL:cheers:

I just answered his comment . I have no idea what people are saying because the only thread I looked at was this.

There is no denying that CLE is playing better ball . My point is lets break it down .

What Cle done ? Okay they played LAA well winning 2 of 3 at home but think both wins were by 1 run . So as I explained and no one agreed a week ago LAA is in a funk and it has shown since then . LAA had more then enough chances to win the games it lost but simply failed to excute with MOB late in games . So CLE snuck 2 wins out in close games . Very nice but they were also nice sized dogs in those games ..which tells me LAA was overvalued and to some degree CLE undervalued as they had played LAA tight @ LAA.

They beat KC which is nice and DET did the same @ KC with the difference of losing the sweep game but also DET had had won 5 straight @ KC since the break and was looking for 2 sweeps and KC had lost a ton inarow...so really no difference IMO but look how strongly DET was priced @ KC compared to CLe at home ....tells a story IMO ....they also had like 2 hits off Meche and won thanks to KCs defense ...

They swept @ Texas which was somewhat impressive . However as I said they nearly blew a 5-0 lead in the 1st game when Texas got it to 5-4 there pen allowed 2 runs to getit o 7-4 still Texas fought back and lost 7-5 . Okay it was snice but think Matt Harrison was FAVORED vs Carmona . Then they get McCarthy making his season ML debut and are down 7-1 after 4 innings ! Only Texas could give 6 back immediately to have ittied at 7 ....eventually CLE scored a late run in the 8th or 9th and won...the sweep game credit to reyes he picthed well and Padilla was ahh fighting this neck injury when the pens got involved CLE blew a 3-1 lead and tied at 3-3 they had there chance with the bases loaded but didnt get a hit . Guardado comes in allows a run ....

They beat Galarraga 4-3 . Galarraga was okay but think on normal rest which if you check is very medicore stat wise . He likes day starts , road starts and extra rest. Same deal Det has numerous chances vs Zach Jackson and fails to score . They had a similiar spot in the b8th with the bases loaded and DIDnt score eventually losing 4-3 ..

So CLE is playing better I agree but how well are they actually playing ??

Carmona has improved but how good is he pitching ? 109 pitches in 6 innings to me means the stats lie for that game . He wasnt crisp the Rangers just didnt execute off him. Previous start again solid but it was another slumping offense in LAA and his favorite the day as well 5 days rest pitching on the 6th something he exceled at in 2007 when healthy ...he faced DET in the day after an amzing DET comeback with verlander at the Jake as road chalk...just seemed to be in the right place at the right time recently IMO both he and CLE.....

Now he gets a team at home looking to avoid a sweep facing a SP who he beat twice at home in 2008 but who is much , much better vs CLE at home then away ...DRASTIC difference......

Big picture to me is CLE is still 10 games below 500 on the road and DET is still 500 or slightily better at home.....

Now if your saying DET is overvalued I DISAGREE based on the entire season . Verlander has TWICE been road chalk @ CLE vs Carmona despitethe fact he gets shelled there everytime. Now he is home where he pitches up to his capabilities in his career . Howver the price has changed very little because of the perception of the situation...I agree absolutely Verlander @ CLE laying chalk even up to -150...was way INFLATED !! However it also shows you that if he is laying decent wood @ Cle then he is gonna be laying decent wood at home . So where do yo back him in theory ? Laying -125 and -145 (remember same opposing SP ) on the road where he hasnt pitched well vs them or lay -160 when he is at home where he has done very good avg 2runs and 7inn per start in 5 of his 6 career including both 2008 home starts.

Seems to me with one team trying to avoid a sweep in DET and another trying for 3 straight sweeps odds are in DETs favor today but thats my logic.....

I think people are buying way to much into CLE win streak and overlooking Verlander's quality work at home vs CLE...

My opinion its okay to disagree . I clearly feel DET is cheap here . They are not facing a LHSP which has given them huge trouble of late as I pointed out . When you LOSE 5 straight at home to LHP named Zach Jackson , David Purcey (my fav of the lot) , Garrett Olson , Gary Waters and Dallas Braden something is off ....what did CLE throw 1st 2 games ???? LHSP and they faced a 19-2 SP with a kid making his ML debut ......

So far I lost 1 unit on Det monday playing them ML and CLE +1.5RL because of the high vig and 1 unit yesterday losing a silly play on a youngster ...-2 units in the series on a side isnt much of an issue for me ......dont see myself as chasing and had no plans to play a side till I looked at the big picture...

CLE may prove me wrong and kick DETs ass here . I can live with being wrong as long as I thought the whole situation out ....to me value is the spot not the price as I have so often said...I loved Pitt catching +200 yesterday still didnt help them win...nice to get ++ money but feel certain things over looked here ..

Also DET nearly 300 at home vs RHSP about 40points higher then CLE away ....

:shake::cheers:GL if you roll with CLE

Nut, any thoughts on the under first 5 for the Zona game? i can get it at even money 3.5, but that number worrys me. had same thing in oak last night and hit under in game but lost first 5

The key is the determination to win. Cleveland winning 8 straight on the road. They know the streak and are focused on maintaining it. Detroit has been mismanaged all year. The most obvious being keeping the joke closer so long. Players just got sick of it and you can see the results but just see a massive difference in mind set for these teams.

SportsNut: Verlander is no bargin at -180, Det is 2-8 vs Clev last 10 he started. Danks -180 on the road vs a team that can hit i imo a bit steep. I understand everyones view .

Like I said at -180 is basically fairly priced IMO at home vs CLE and Carmona . When it drops to -160 thats where the "value" comes in . We all like 10% discounts and thats what I feel we get here ...Verlander has not been lights out all year but I thought it was interesting that except for his 4 game stumble ( WSox twice who batter him , 1 @ Jake and 1 on 4 days rest with a 130 picth game in his rearview mirror) recently he basically had 15 quality starts in 19 ...which is a better track record then Carmona has composed in 2008 even accounting for injury .

Good Luck if you choose CLE ML .

The philly UMP naturally would rather not have DiMauro but he is NOT a HOME UMP as much as he is a FAV UMP ...think there is a difference ...

anyway Home dogs +111 or better L4 years 1-8 with him and 3-13 L5 years

Johan two very good starts L2 times vs Philly and he was hurt by his pen which could again happen here .. Just like that Johan was robbed of a win last time out vs Philly as was NYM last evening , like that Johan is higher priced then he was vs Happ at Phillly a clear indicator they want Philly money IMO...., like that Philly has 2 EXHAUSTING wins the past 3 days on Sunday Night and yesterday . It doesnt make a WIN here as impertative subconsciously for them as it does for NYM ....Johan has carried his team lately when pitching and think they get it back . I do worry that NY is again havingto bounce back off a tough loss like it did on Monday as its to many ups and downs ....

Think Johan puts together another strong effort so laying heavily that way as kendrick did not impress me he last start lasting only 5+ as the Philly pen cant afford that today.....

Danks I agree but if he is himself and goes 7 innings then I think its okay . balt has really not hit quality LHSP and Danks has shown to be. Always leary about high road chalk in sweep games but just think Balt is fading at this point > I went with them yesterday and Floyd got his run support and pitched well ...passed on Cubs think I parlayed WS with something ..maybe 1st 5 inn is better though....Liz has that good velocity and can beon at anytime but think WS are good at working pitchers and Liz is Cabrera Jr or with this Dominican guys he could be Cabrera Sr , cant trust them birth certifcates ...

GL bro...

trust me I am not trying to convince anyone DET is the PLAY. Simply showing what I see when I look at everything . Justin Verlander is not the 2007 version but neither is the CLE lineup . The fact he had that long run of consistent good efforts stringing together 15 of 19 quality starts makes my concern subside....I understand the attractivenss of CLE but weird shit happens in the games where the DOGS look like great value ...Pitt allows a 7 run 7th to lose , mets blow a 7-0 lead , Braves blow whatever lead it was but 4 run 8th inn and 3 run 9th inn leads....

Sorry Giggity got caught responding to the other comments. I fucked myself pounding the 1st H under @ LAA for 3 units and the game total for 2 units yesterday . So here passed on the 1st 5 inn UNDER and rolled with the U7.5 for 2 units.

I think you will see this big chalks get bet down in the closing moments . Would say most times its nothing just some people making late value plays ...or I hope as I did play SD ML even-1.5 1u...

I dont disagree but its not like CLE came in and shit on Det . They won game 1 in extra innings if you dont care your not playing extra innings are you ? Second game again Cliff Lee vs a team who had lost 7 of 9 at home to marginal LH opposing a kid making his ML debut and even funnier acquired for Mike Maroth last year ..gotta think he is a borderline prospect at that especially since I believe Maroth was designated for assignment

Does CLE have great momentum on there side ? No doubt cant deny that . Still dont see there streak as representative of there WILL but rather the failure of there opponents ....

Really dont disagree with anything you said on DET at all. I just dont see DET as quitting especially since they went 4-2 on the road as those are the easiest games to punt . No backlash from fans or media really compared to a lousy performance at home....So think they are trying and think the closer debacle and all those blown games sucked alot of life out of them but clearly think there big issues at the moment is facing LHSP... Which has been all but like 6 of there 18- 20 home games since the break

For as good as CLE was recently they also entered Texas who wasnt playing well throwing Matt Harrison vs Fausto. Priced at Texas -130 and here you get maybe a DET team playing only slightily better then texas but Verlander as opposed to Harrison is a huge difference and u pay just 30 cents more....which is value to me

:shake:

Also both teams have 30 games left would expect both want to get to 500 and thats about all they are playing for . Det pitching killed them and the injuries and inconsistency on offense hampered there production. A season lost for sure but with that pitching I dont see how they are expected to win on a daily basis...

Also in DETs case I think they have alot of quality hitters in there lineup probably 5 AS quality bats . Those guys IMO will not give away atbats and take every opportunity to pad there stats .

It's like this IMO-- If your playing pickup basketball it sucks to get blown out but even if you are when you get that chance to score on offense your gonna make the best of it and its actually fun for a moment . In baseball terms the everyday players might drag there feet in the field and on the basepaths but I think regardless of situation its always fun for guys like Granderson , Maggs , Sheff , Cabrera , etc to dig into the batters box and try to embarass an opposing SP......

Thats my take . The strength of DET is there hitters and while they havent been scoring I still think they will be giving away very few abs down the stretch ...
