Nothing much standing out early to me. Jurrjens actually has some bizarre home/road splits - he's been much better on the road of late than at home. Chris Carpenter makes his first start post Tommy John in that game and I kinda want to fade him...but the Jurrjens recent trend doesn't agree with me.

Some other looks...Haren isn't a huge road favorite, I realize SD has won 4 in a row and maybe 5 by the time you read this, but they still aren't great. Might be worth a shot but I never get that excited about road teams.

Also, Detroit is a pretty big dog to Cliff Lee considering that they are 20-11 vs. LHP this year.

ARI looks good, i like the idea of fading Carpenter, and i'm on a cold streak. Not sure what to tell you, Seabass, but i like where your heads at...

grip yourselves - at first glance I like the Under in Milwaukee. Going to have to find a lot when digging to turn that lean into a bet.

Mark is flying out tonight and has said he will be playing for the Angels tomorrow. I have not been able to find out about Kotchman

rays vs. jays - jackson got shelled 10 days ago at home vs. the jays, goin 4.1 and givin up 6 runs on 8 hits (2 HRs), other than that tho he had a solid July givin up 4 runs on 12 hits in 19.1 innings (2 games against KC and one against NYY) no idea who Richmond is. minor league call up?

gotta be impressed with the rays takin out halladay. might be just what they needed to overcome their road woes, they might be worth a shot. jacksons career #'s vs the jays is 0-3 (7 starts) era of 4.26 and whip of 1.31. take out the last game (12 era 2.25 whip) and his #'s are solid. i didn't see the game tho so i have no idea what went wrong or if the jays will just tee off on him again.

kc @ oak - bannister faced oakland once this season, goin 5 innings and giving up 5 runs on 9 hits, but that went down in april so im not sure it means much.

his month of july consisted of:
@ tampa (5 innings, 8 hits, 1BB, 6 Ks, 7 runs....6 earned)
vs. whitesox (6.2, 4 hits, 3 BB, 6 Ks, 5 runs)
@ whitesox (3.0, 8 hits, 1 BB, 4 Ks, 5 runs)
vs. tampa (5.1, 7 hits, 1 BB, 1K, 2 runs)

decent at home, shitty on the road.

gallaghers got 3 starts for the A's. he dominated the angels at home. went to NYY and escaped disaster pretty much every inning to keep the a's in the game and most recently vs texas he gave up 9 hits, 5 runs and 2 HRs in 5.1 innings but somehow only ended up with 1 earned run for the game, not really sure how that worked out.

with the A's lookin to avoid the sweep and bannisters struggles on the road, gotta like the A's to take it.

Two that jump out to me are the Marlins with johnson and Oaktown with Gallagher. Both pitchers have been pitching very well. Johnson pitched well in his only start this season at dolphin stadium and the Marlins got to Pelfrey in his only start against them. He lasted only 4 innings.
In Gallagher's last start he got lit up by Texas, but he pitched great his first two starts as an A. Bannisters road numbers are not good and he lost at Oak earlier this year. Don't see why that should change.

yup, whats shitty is its already up to -139 on BM which sucks. was gonna make the play before it rose too high but i was too late. not sure what to do, take the RL, lay the chalk or maybe 1st 5 will have some value.

Playing KC. KC in third game after a win is 8-3. Oakland swept KC in the first series and these 2 are not friends. Bannister has played at Oakland 3 times and the first 2 were fine. He and the team remember the 13-2 and are not really concerned about what Oakland wants or needs. Gallagher in that last home start gave up 9 hits and walked 5 men. Note Mahay used only 8 pitches last night. Let me say this again, these teams are not friends. Kc is going to try very hard to get the sweep today. I understand being skeptical about Bannister but go back a while and he was considered a star. He is still a respected member of this team and he played a good game in his last start and I expect them to show up today.
One more point. Bannister in his last 10 starts is 5-5 su

Bannister was included in a stat the other day on baseball tonight showing five pitchers with the worst home/away era.....His home era is around 3.5 -road era is 8.6...............Im leaning KC anyways - just wanted to throw that out for discussion.

The unders in Toronto, the Bronx, and Oakland look good. But nothing concrete yet, I am still shaking off that brutal bad beat I took last night with the under in Atlanta.

I'm a little hesistant to touch the under in Toronto, we have richmond, who just got called up and Jackson got shelled by the jays last time as noted above...so i'm not sure, if i'd touch the under there..

Small play on Baltimore ml and plus .5 first half. Sarfate is now a starter. 0 day era on 15 innings and 2.45 away era.. Baltimore is hitting the ball very well right now but not too interested in a game bet based on pen problems but more just Yankee 3rd game record. But almost no one has seen Sarfate and we have seen Yankee home in the day first halfs. Joba is very good power pitcher I believe. Just not a great style vs Baltimore
See nothing wrong with the Blue Chip under in Toronto. Richmond last 10 starts 7 good 3 poor. Seems comfortable pitching 7 innings. general trends mixed. Jackson got lit because he was on 11 days rest. He is worse in the day. Bullpens very rested and no games the next day. Looks reasonable of course my totals recently have sucked but it looks reasonable.

With John Parrish moving from the rotation to the bullpen, Toronto purchased Richmond's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday. A 28-year-old native of Vancouver, Richmond was 5-10 with a 4.29 ERA in 21 starts between Double-A and Triple-A this season.

Price of -115 seems pretty cheap for TB if you ask me

I agree...Keep in mind that Richmond is 28 and started the season in AA - not exactly a top prospect...Yes, his numbers look good in the minors but that is so misleading as minor leaguers will swing at balls that major leaguers dont, these pitchers tend to get behind in the majors and have to lay in 90 mph meatballs......If Richmond was worth anything, he wouldnt be making his first major league start at age 28......He'll probably go out and pitch a gem and beat me but I will put money where my mouth is.........

Leaning heavily to the Cardinals. With 60 wins they have a better record than anyone in the East or West but are 3rd in division. They are coming up to a tough series vs the Phillies and really have to roll the weaker teams when they play them. Still debating this.

Good stuff as usual BC. While I had a few minutes wanted to add to this . Most of this is stuff I posted already but you are more then welcome to track this stuff going forward for the forum if you like.

Yankees :

Last 37 games at home
( Actually starts with ARod's return from the DL which also happened to be the 12-2 loss to Balt for Moose)

24-13
8-1 vs LHSP (7-2 Under : Three shutouts , Three 1 run and One 2 run )
16-12 vs RHSP (13-13-2 Under )

Allowing 3 runs or Less :
16-4 W/L & 17-1-2 UNDER

Which leaves them at 8-9 allowing 4 or more runs. They are 13-3-1 OVER in those games . Interesting is that they are 7-0-1 OVER in the 8 wins.

Moose : 11-4 Under at Home
Opposition scoring in recent home starts: (Bold = Unders)
July 1 1 1 (13)
June 2 4 3 1
May 6 12 3 1
April 7 1 5

He is 7-2 allowing 3 runs or less at home ( I mean the entire staff for tha game) and 9-0 Under in those. Last 7 at home all Unders (Only 24 runs or support and half in the past 2 starts) and 9 of 11 Under . Until his recent Monday start which ended the run . He is NOW 1-5 allowing 4 runs or more 4-2 Over .

Balt on the road is 3-19 when scoring 3 runs or less ( Cabrera has two 3-2 wins and Olson the other). Also 19-3 Under in those games .

If we look at the entire NYY season .

They were 9-11 1st 20 games at home before the above 35 game stretch .

When allowing 3 runs or less they were
8-1 W/L and 8-1 Under

When allowing 4 or more runs
1-10 W/L 6-4-1 Over . The win was an over .

Which makes them 24-5 allowing 3 runs or less and 25-2-2 UNDER. In the 24 wins 20-2-2 Under and 5-0 Under in Losses.

Which leaves them at 9-19 allowing 4 runs or more 19-7-2 Over . Importantly though all 9 wins were Overs .

So if you think NYY wins the game allowing 3 or less runs the corresponding play is UNDER . Which also means Yanks tend to do really well vs light hitting teams and struggle more vs team who can score runs. Of the 24 wins the UNDER is 20-2-2 and 25-2-2 overall 3 or less at home. Again the remaining 9 wins which they allowed 4 or more runs the Over is 8-0-1 . So Yanks have built a strong profile . If they allow 3 runs or less they which they have in 29 home games they are 25-2-2 UNDER . Th eother 28 games they allowed 4 or more runs in the over was 19-7-2 . Plus the Yanks Win % is strong at 24-5 in the 29 games they allow 3 or less and its poor when they allow 4 or more at 9-19 .

With ARod vs LHSP 8-1 and 7-2 Under w/o him 1-4 & 2-2-1 Under .

If you think NY is going to win BUT allow 4 or more the OVER is that play . In the 9 wins allowing 4 or more runs the OVER is 8-0-1 . Its 10-7-2 OVER in the 19 losses .

Also Balt is playing the EXTREME game as you have mentioned and detailed.

On the road scoring 3 runs or less only 3 wins and 19 losses but also 19-3 Under .
On the road scoring 4 or more runs they are 19-13 but 24-6-2 OVER . Which has really picked up steam of late as the OVER is 20-0-2 the past 22 times Balt has scored 4 or more runs on the road . The Last UNDER was May8th in a 4-1 win. Since April ended the OVER is 22-2-2 when scoring 4+ away . In April it was 2-4 Over for Balt which clearly Balt pitching has detoriated as the season went on.

GL BC. Just wanted to add your work. Think we have 2 strong trends for both teams when looking at Yanks home play and Balt road play:shake:

Jurrjens will snap his recent skid at home, and Carpenter will struggle coming back from TJ surgery. Atlanta laying the chalk... money in the bank!
