US Open @ Oakmont Discussion and In-Game Thread

Trevor Cone with 3 made cuts in 13 events this year.

T52 last week and a 52/54 at two opposite field events.

Unlikely is being kind.

Rooting for him to get a nice check!

A couple of thoughts on NBC's coverage:

Can they put a reference on the horizon for that tee shot on 17? No idea where they're trying to hit it.

Can they get a better camera view on the landing area on 7? And where is the shot tracer on that hole? This is our premier championship....no time to get cheap on the tech.

Tracer technology has somehow gotten worse

This is an awful broadcast. Makes eating bread exciting.

Currently sitting on both Burns (80-1) and Hovland (60-1)......been working to cover with smaller amounts on others after round 2 and tonight.....Ortiz or Hatton could shut me out, but otherwise look solid for at least a couple postivie units.....gonna be a fukkin great sweat tomorrow

I took:
Scottie 3rd or better at even money
Xander 18th or better -120

* Added "No hole in one" -190

I have a local and probably do not get best odds. Both bets were not significant $
Look like a 0-3 for me.

I am rolling with Adam Scott to win for +300 (hard to wager on a guy with a long putter)

2-0 rd.3 +4.3u, -1.1u Open. Need final winning score to be -2 or better to win big pre tourney bet.

Think it’s a two horse race between Burns and Spaun, redemption from recent close ones. Hovland in the mix if he minimizes his mistakes as he’ll likely climb with some early birds.

Love me some old man Scott but think he struggles some today.

Rd.4- SW Kim over 2.5 birds -120 5u
Adds-
Scheffler under 70.5 -130 5u
Spaun under 73.5 -130 5u

Mix of DK and FD. FD being stingy again with their limits.

Leggo

I would love to play Oakmont again someday but if it was weather like this there would have to be millions of dollars and a trophy on the line.

Bobby Mac will probably be a multiple major winner in his career....he'd fit the bill here.

This is so awesome

Sorry Mark I simply don't know how to answer my phone right now

2-1 Rd.4 +2.68, +1.6u. Loss the big pre-tourney bet (final score under 278.5) making the total -6u total.

Epic and apocalyptic feeling final round. Congrats to JJ on that reset, true definition of grit and will.
Shit happens though- Thought final score of -2 or better was lock but mother nature, Oakmont and the USGA said otherwise.
Burns had it but didn't fight through the finish like Bobby Mac and JJ. Hovland stuck through it but didn't get the lucky bounces / putts to drop when needed.

JJ had both the worst and best breaks on the course yesterday. Hitting the pin on 2 and watching it suck back 50 yards almost melted him away. But he somehow regained enough composure, even after bogeying 3, 5, and 6, to par 7, 8 and 9. I defy you to find another card from this week that bogeyed 2, 5 and 6 but parred 7,8 and 9. Then the break really allowed him a chance to reset himself.

But I don't think you can find a better break than having your playing opponent show you the line and speed on a 60 footer in the rain to win the Open. The golf gods paid him back for that disaster at #2.

DK's King of the Course contest had 76 players choose Tom Kim to record the most underpar holes on Saturday and Sunday. Five guys, including Scottie, Rory and Mac tied at 8 holes, but TK was the lone player with 9 underpar holes on the weekend. The winners got about $13k apiece in free bets.

Has a Srixon ball ever won a major before?
I would not think so.

I was thinking about this all day as the TV cameras focused on his ball and he wearing the hat. I'd expect he made a ton of $$$ on his contract renewal. I'd imagine a call will be made from his agent to Srixon this week just to "check in" and see how things are going.

Puma may get a similar call

Like Scottie. This brief interview after his round illustrates what a good guy he is. I was a little surprised they did not ask about the short putts he missed.

So, I looked it up.

Hideki won the Masters playing Srixon Z Star XV.

Lowry is a Srixon player, but I don't know if that was the case when he won the Open.

Ryder Cup captain Keegan also plays Srixon, don't know for how long.

Brooks also plays Srixon, again don't know how long.
