I took Toronto -2 and Wizards -1 when I had the chance. Hawks play 3 game in 4 days and the only good team they won, were the tired Cats, whom they won the last 11 games in a row.
Toronto 3 - 1 ATS playing on the road, off a home loss, after day's rest or more (the only loss was by one point).

Kings are 0 - 5 ATS last 5 home games as dogs. Wizards one of the best road teams in the league ATS wise and won the 5 out of 6 road games SU (lost only to Heat in Miami).
Resting Cousins agaisnt Minny shows that Kings maybe have little tanking in mind.

Miami at Cleveland: (Mia -9.5 and 196) Road teams are 29-16 ATS with Eric Dalen this season, including 8-5 ATS as favorites. Road teams are 32-24 ATS with Zach Zarba this season, including 16-6 ATS as favorites. Miami has basically neutral ATS records with these refs, but Cleveland has done poorly with them. Miami is 5-5 ATS with Dalen and 4-4-1 ATS with Zarba. Cleveland is 2-8 ATS with Dalen and 2-6 ATS with Zarba.

Toronto at Atlanta: (Tor -3 and 200) Road favorites of fewer than 5 points are a strong 13-3 ATS with Derrick Collins and 8-2 ATS with Jason Phillips this season. Some mixed numbers in the team-specific trends.

Milwaukee at Portland: (Port -12.5 and 207.5) Several conflicting trends with this crew. Tre Maddox is 2-13 o/u with totals higher than 205 points, but Portland is 7-2-1 o/u with him. Double-digit road dogs are 4-1 ATS with J.T. Orr this season, but Milwaukee is on a 0-6 ATS run with him.

@nbafan and @emkee: Well that's interesting because used to read everywhere that in long run if you are able to win 0,5 pt or 1 pt by line shopping over closing line you should end up long term winner. Well, if line and closing line is due to sharp action despite 75% of Joe public bets, i value more the closing one, but like you mention if public is moving the line in his direction (squares) prefer opening line as a decent public fade. Emkee: most of the time, lines put by book are what they think but not everytime. if a Laker-warriors should deserve a 205 pts according to their handicapping methods/database, they are more likely to open the ltotal at 207,5 pts or something like that cause they know most of public bets are going to land on the over on a lakers match up, so basically they are betting against the public with a nice edge in their favor in addition to the juice they take

I never pay any attention to the lines, but it's a known fact that beating the closing line in a long term = profit.

I never care about the line, mostly because we never know who moves it, why it moves and so on.

Trying to read in to it, it's just like a coin flipping in my eyes.

I wouldn't be surprised to know that bookies move it sometimes, just to throw people off...

Many times I see Pinnacle, one of the largest in the game, bookie, not moving the line, but rather lower odds. You can see as a default option, Team A -5,5 for 1.80 odds or even lower.

In such cases btw, I do think that bookies choose side as they tempt you with the lower line, because they think that the other side has value (or they got too much action going the other way and want to balance things - but usually it's not a good idea not to move lines in such case).

i don't make my own lines and try to find the edges based on what the actual lines are.... sometimes the whole premise results in completely opposite plays from those that look for "value" or whatever you want to call it

there are many different angles and such that I use, i guess you can label it situational handicapping.... all this beating the line stuff is nonsense to me... especially in pro sports where the linemakers know more about the matchups than all of us combined.... thats my view on it

I'm not trying to argue just a discussion and we're all entitled to look and play as we wish. But I've been in this business all my life and been in Las Vegas for almost 35 years that in itself doesn't mean I'm always right but in this game of sports betting your looking for CLV over long term. I've seen players bet 10k on a side and the line didn't move and then watch a guy come in and bet $2500 and the line moves a point. John Q follows but doesn't move numbers.

There's a reason why Cris and Pinny and sharp books will take $500 on an opening line and once it's hammer into place the limits go through the roof. Do you really believe that these books survive on there opening numbers. Enjoyed the discussion guys and I'm not here to cause problems or tell anyone what to do so please don't take it that way were on the same side as far as winning money. no thats not what we are saying... we are saying that the opening number is what incorporates all the knowledge that the books know... the closing number is based on a multitude of factors

books dont just open lines without knowing all the factors necessary

if the opening number didnt matter, why isnt tomorrows magic/suns line out yet when all other lines are out?
