Another study in extremes, Baltimore's last 31 games of basically all-or-nothing offense -

11, 2, 9, 2, 5, 7, 5, 7, 10, 3, 10, 6, 8, 5, 7, 1, 1, 5, 7, 11, 1, 8, 8, 1, 1, 5, 6, 5, 13, 7 & 3 run totals.

_7 totals of 0-2 runs.
_2 totals of 3-4 runs.
22 totals of 5+ runs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Baltimore has gone 55 games without posting consecutive Under results. They are 36-15-4 to Over during this period, and are 13-0-2 to Over off their last 15 Under results.

Like the under in the Cubs/Brewers game tomorrow afternoon.

Check out the starting pitcher's stats the last 3 games...

Throw in Eddings as the umpire and you have a recipe for a 2-1 ballgame.

Any thoughts on the total?

Dodgers ML- The books know something as there is no other reason these two should be a pick'em. Take LAD.

Indians ML/OVER 9- Verlander has a tough time with the Tribe and I don't see the runs stopping after tonight's affair.

Phillies ML- The better team with comparable pitchers. The Phillies will be very motivated for Lannan because he was the pitcher who injured Utley with a fastball to the wrist and then proceeded to hit Ryan Howard on the next pitch. I'm sure the Phillies can't wait to knock the shit out of this clown.

Angels ML- The price is too good with the way the Halos are playing and with their record against LHP.

Agree On Angels...Price To Good To Pass Up...Not Like Angels Have Shit Pitcher Going...First Place Team On A Roll...Getting THOSE Odds...?!?!?!

BC do you have any recent stats on teams playing B2B series @ Fenway and Yankee Stadium?

Neyt.

I still wouldn't take the Angels, thou. They lost to the Tribe/Byrd at home after they swept the Red Sox the first time. Garland is likely a sacrificial lamb here.

I like Harden to get his first win as a Cub and complete the 4 game sweep. Statement games like this are exactly why the Cubs brought this guy to town. Turnabout is fair play after the Crew did it to the Cards in STL last week. 4-1 Cub win @ Wrigley Field North.

This is where the public likely realizes that the Angels are for real and backs them at a high clip, then they lose 6:1 and they switch sides for the remainder of the series.

Btw, some interesting numbers here.

LAA v Pettitte 59 for 168, .351

NYY v Garland 63 for 196, .321

Game 1 of the series:

LAA 19-16
After win 12-10

NYY 15-21
After win 11-13

food for thought.

Would like it normally but when I saw 7.0, which implies very small margin for error, I think I'll back off.

i think MusicCityGambler's argument for Phillie revenge convincing. Also they tend to do better after wins by 2 or more. I think the only lamb to slaughter was Santana. Top teams just keep pushing when playing in competition. The problem is Garland's road form seems bad. However I think Andy goes 6 and then the pen is tested. He has gone 7 vs the Padres and 8 vs Oakland and Tampa. None of these teams was hitting. Yanks probably 55 to 57% so take is moderately profitable. Hoping we can find better but right now I am not seeing strong plays. That does not mean they are not there.

garland might be the best #5 pitcher in the league, the guy is solid and can be nasty at times, but im with BC that he'll get lit up tomorrow.

here's his game log. after dominating the jays he's had a shitty july. no reason to fade pettite in NY, not with santana vs. ponson on friday and lackey vs. rasner on sunday comin up.

really like the twins tomorrow. i think its safe to say baker is the ace of the staff and danks has poor career numbers vs. the twins.

I guess I find it a little surprising that so many people are sure the Cleveland game goes over tomorrow. Carmona played 1 game off the dl which was a night game. The man has been primarily a day pitcher in his career and day games in cleveland have been massive unders. Verlander 1-5 under in the day. On a get away day. I really need to look more at Carmona;s rehab numbers.

LEAN UNDER

:hang:

you make valid reasons Tuck. I am really thinking this one over. Not gonna be around to see lineups but I'm hoping the majority of players will be in. Today Guillen had a day off so he should be in 2marrow. Det won 2 out of 3 already and I'm sure clev wants to take this last one so don;t see why they wouldn't have all their players in at home. Carmona had a leg injury from what i recall. His walks are really high. I'm not familiar with day numbers but Verlander is up and down vs clev. Farnsworth should debut 2marrow and after a nearly 6 hr game i dunno what will happen but to me this is more an instinct play

carmona in the day has been fuckin money in the past. I'm willing to bet on a rebound here with him facing another decent pitcher..

A study in extremes, the Mets last 37 games of almost all-or-nothing offense in the normal 9 regulation inns -

7, 1, 3, 2, 0, 8, 15, 0, 2, 3, 1, 7, 7, 11, 2, 9, 2, 10, 7, 5, 7, 2, 3, 7, 10, 2, 2, 7, 6, 6, 3, 6, 8, 9, 3, 4 & 5 run totals.

16 totals of 0-3 runs.
_3 totals of 4-5 runs.
18 totals of 6+ runs.

When I first started tracking this, within the middle grouping (4-5) I also lumped in the 6 run totals. On that basis, they've pretty much started to return to a more regular output their last 12 games, so while it's still something to keep an eye on, I won't continue to track it in these threads beyond this post.

My thoughts exactly. Over seems like the best play in this situation considering both teams have been hitting lately plus exactly those guys who've been successful vs the opposing pitchers seems to be hot at the moment (Anderson, Teixeira, Abreu, Cano, A-Rod, even Damon to some extent).

Pettitte's W/L record after the All Star Break is ridiculous 110-44 plus Garland is like hitting off a tee...........If he's the best #5 guy in baseball??? Teams hitting .290 off of him and he doesnt strike people out..If you think the Angels will win a slug fest, then those odds are appealing......But Pettitte certainly doesnt give one hope that LAA will put up 6+ runs...........

Yeah, the lineups in Cle should show a bunhc of non regulars with the way last night went. I am waiting for a five inning line and looking to the under

carmona in the day has been fuckin money in the past. I'm willing to bet on a rebound here with him facing another decent pitcher..

I know this so I expect Vegas to know this, and I know Verlander has struggled versus the Tribe in recent history so again I would expect Vegas to know this. Yet, Vegas releases the line at Detroit (Verlander) -140.

I'll be on Detroit at high noon (actually 11am my time).

GL men

my book is now showing -132 Verlander......With both bullpens taxed, who has the better chance to go 7 innings??.....I go with Verlander....Carmona's first start basck last Fri was a disaster...

I like Det too. That is one hell of a disheartening loss to rebound from for the tribe. Up 8-1, and then in extras bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the 12th and a K, then DP.....

I would tread lightly today in general...could be lots of peeps on the move today and who knows how that effects the mindset of some teams.....esp. guys playing in the afternoon games, they might not have their head in it (Indians are lookin to sell hard)

the under got slammed like a red headed step child in cleveland. already on it. Verlander given up .182 in day games this year.

Eddings behind the plate, like the under but the question mark is bush..

I think Bush is fine. I almost bet this under, instead I took Detroit laying chalk with half of their starters. Boy, I'm a stupid fuck!

According to Shortline's post, the umpire for the CHW / Min game tonight is Bill Welke and, during the last two months, the home team has won 11 out of 12 games in which he has worked the dish. Trend's like this tend to catch my attention.

OK...it's official. I'm on the Twins.

CHW are a career .242 hitting team vs Baker. Dye (who has been hot as a firecracker lately) is only 1 for 9 for a .111 ave against him. Pierzynski is a .333 hitter, Swisher and Konerko both are at .286 lifetime vs. Baker. Twins have a team .320 average vs. Danks. Justin Morneau career .462 ave, Michael Cuddyer career .583 ave, Joe Mauer career .600 ave all against Danks....all this coupled with that umpire trend I mentioned above gives me a play on the Twins.

The only question I see is whether or not to play only 1st 5 Innings or the entire game. Leaning 1st 5 here to keep the BP's out of the equation.

Shoot..Michael Cuddyer is on the 15 day DL. I'm really sorry about that folks!! Hopefully you have time to factor that into you Twins play if my info swayed you. I'm still on the Twins...my feeling is there is simply too much going against Danks tonight.

i like the twins myself.. however, everytime im overly confident in something i get fucked.. best of luck on this one

Any thoughts on MINNY/CWS over 8? both pitchers atrocious vs opp teams but overall they are good pitchers. Each game they have played dating back to 2007 has hit 8 or gone over. Ump is 12-8 i believe to the over. Over seems to be the play. Esp with griffey on CWS
