Right now I am trying to understand the 8 total in the Cardinal game. Which of these pitchers is going to hold the scoring down? Cardinals do not have quality pitching. They can not compete in the fast lane. They have to slug the ball. I do not see Sheets pitching well so he will be hit.

I disagree on the O's tomorrow GWarner. Cabrera looks to be reverting to old form. I'll take Roy against them tomorrow....

I do not see Sheets pitching well so he will be hit.[/QUOTE]

Why???? No reason Sheets can't throw a gem here and he generally gets little run support too...8 seems about right to me. look at the last three scores...

I see. No run support and lots of low scoring gems. Ok. Must be mistaken. I thought in his last 10 starts he had gotten 50 runs in support. That would be an average of 5 runs a game. I also thought in his last 6 road games also in those last 10 games the opponents had scored 26 runs. That would be 4 and 1/3rd runs as an average.
Todd on the other hand in his last 5 home starts has given up 23 runs. Thats not including the other runs the pen gave up. Maybe it will go under.
The Cardinals could hunch down in the fetal position and just lay there.
Miles, Molina and Albert have all hit Sheets fairly well on a serious sample size and a few others have on a very small sample size.
Last 10 away he is 5 over and 5 under. I like tomorrow over.

Moyer career vs. NYM

94 inn 2.77 era 1.19 whip

Perez career vs. Phi

61 inn 3.39 era 1.32

I have made one other bet. Washington. Why?
Redding this season on 5 days rest is 2-0 with a 5 era out of 5 starts.
Cain on 5 days rest this season is 1-3 with an era over 8.
Sounds good but that is not the reason.
Cain 3-8 at home to Redding 6-3 away is not the reason either but it sounds good any way.
I always look for positional plays. Always. After Cain the next 2 starters are Sanchez and Tim. Those are 2 pitchers this team tries hard to win with. And they will be facing at home a divisional rival Arizona. It seems easy for this team to look past Cain anyway. Now that he is in front of Sanchez and Tim I see that increasing and I Love the distraction of a divisional rival.

Like your thinking on that Over tuck. As much as I see the Crudinals as clearly the 3rd team of the 3 threatening in the AL Central, I think their extended low off the various highs they rode vs SD has about come to it's end. Time to do a little digging.

A study in extremes, the Mets last 30 games of almost all-or-nothing offense in the normal 9 regulation inns -

7, 1, 3, 2, 0, 8, 15, 0, 2, 3, 1, 7, 7, 11, 2, 9, 2, 10, 7, 5, 7, 2, 3, 7, 10, 2, 2, 7, 6 & 6 run totals.

14 totals of 0-3 runs.
_1 total of 4-5 runs.
15 totals of 6+ runs.

Tidbits from around the leagues

National League

Saint Louis/Milwaukee
The Cardinals have played a major league-high 38 one-run games.

Albert Pujols went 0-4 w/out a walk or run scored in a home loss, on Wednesday, for only the 2nd time this season.

Milwaukee has homered in a season-high 19 straight games. This matches the team record set from June 11-30, 1996.

Chicago/Florida
Chicago is 6-1 SU playing a home game off a road game this season.

After Wednesday's game, the Marlins optioned RHP Ryan Tucker to Double-A Carolina and activated RHP Justin Miller.

Florida heads for Wrigley Field in a scoring slump. Dan Uggla went 0-for-4 and is 1-for-22 since his miserable performance in the All-Star game. Hanley Ramirez is in a 2-for-21 skid. Josh Willingham, who was given the night off Wednesday, is batting .167 since coming off the disabled list June 24.

New York/Philadelphia
Pedro Martinez left Shea Stadium in the 7th inning of Wednesday's game after learning his father died in the Dominican Republic, and the Mets right-hander was scratched from his scheduled start Friday night against St. Louis. RHP Mike Pelfrey will move up a day to pitch on regular rest in Martinez’s place, and New York is undecided about a starter for Saturday.

Brett Myers is now 0-6 with a 7.91 ERA in 10 starts on the road this year.

Pittsburgh/San Diego
The Pirates have their first three-game victory streak since taking six straight from May 6-12.

The Padres called up LHP Wil Ledezma from Triple-A Portland to take Wolf’s roster spot.

San Francisco/Washington
The Giants haven't won 3 straight home games since between the 8-10th of April.

Washington are toying with setting themselves the goal of finishing with a worse record than that which the 2003 Detroit Tigers managed. They fear it might be too big an ask given they've accidently won more games to this point than they'd intended.

American League

Baltimore/Toronto
The Orioles are seeking their first series win since June 24-26, against the Chicago Cubs.

The Blue Jays have lost 14 of 19 on the road.

After Wednesday's game, the Blue Jays recalled LHP David Purcey from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned RHP Jesse Litsch to the same club. Purcey, 8-6 with a 2.69 ERA in 19 starts with Syracuse, will take Litsch’s spot in rotation.

Kansas/Tampa Bay
The Royals starting pitchers have thrown a total of 27.1 innings out of a possible 54 innings since the All-Star break.

Kansas is 7-1 to Over their last 8 home game 1s, after starting the season out by going 6-2 to Under in the same spot.

The Royals hit .194 in the three-game series vs Detroit.

Tampa is 1-7 SU their last 8 road games.

Just digging into the early games now. Everyone likely to focus on Perez's great stats against the Phillies. I think he's due to get touched up. I just don't think Perez is consistent enough to trust vs a team that can generate runs. The Mets are 4-1 in his last 5 home starts. Relief is also a question mark as Wagner is still day to day.... stats would suggest an under, but I'm thinking over.

Agree with Tuck on the Nats later on.

Jays 1st5 -5.-105 looks like a potential play for me. Pretty much narrows it down to the sp matchups, & the way Cabrera has been giving free passes, I have to think the Jays can squeeze 1 run out. Halladay off a loss in which he held TB scoreless in the first 5, yet the Jays couldn't manage a run. Cabrera's last 3 starts? 15.2 ip, 11er, & 15 walks!

Garza/TB getting too much love on the road. KC off rough series, but were due for a letdown after taking 2 of 3 @ Chi. Meche dogged at home vs a 19-25 road team. TB 2-6 in garza's 8 road starts. Interesting stat- 5 of his 8 road starts were 2+ run losses, just a single 1 run loss.

KC-1.5+200 doesn't look like such a crazy play after looking at that. 2 to 1 on a play that's cashed over half the time....

WOW...with that announcement the lines are jumping.

Bodog just had Mets go from -138 to -150 in about 2 minutes times. BetEd from -138 to -146.

No mention of Florida winning the L10 games vs Cubbies including the season sweep in 2007 .....

Still wouldnt take Marlins here ....under -300 is cheap ...

Lineup slumping facing Big Z and think undiscilpined , free swinging High K and high HR team vs Big Z

Olsen has been inconsistent and wins away were Wash twice , SD and Milw who he fared well vs in early 2008 both times and somewhat suprising..

Soriano back gives them depth vs LH and they responded yesterday but Soto resting here . Also 1st home game after the AS Break.

Cubs 9-2 vs LHSP at home losing twice by 1 run to Duke which thepen blew it and Estes 4-3 . The 4-3 loss the only game they failed to score at least 4 runs vs LHSP at home in 2008 .

Zambrano in all games at home Cubs have won held the opponent to 3 runs or less..(that 7 wins in 10 starts )Cubbies have not lost consecutive Zambrano starts in 2008 either .......All 3 of the starts Zambrano lost at home were 1 run games 4-3 twice including the season opener and 7-6 when Pitt rallied against the pen.

BOL:cheers:

STL is 6-0 to Over (avg 11.50 runs) in game 4s this season.
MIL is 3-1 to Over (avg 10.33 runs) in game 4s this season.

STL coming off only their 2nd shutout, and are 6-1 to Over (avg 10.57 runs) this season when held to 1 run or less and then playing the same opponent.

small bet on Over 8.5 (they are 11-4-1 to Under off 2 straight losses).

Interesting stat- 5 of his 8 road starts were 2+ run losses, just a single 1 run loss.

KC-1.5+200 doesn't look like such a crazy play after looking at that. 2 to 1 on a play that's cashed over half the time....

6 of Garza's 9 road starts resulted in 2+ run losses.... something to look out for:shake:

Like the KC game wasnt easy but Zambrano won again at home and his opponent scored 3 runs or less like it had in his previous 7 home wins in 2008 and he avoided losing consecutive starts for teh 1st time in 2008. Though his BULLPEN did everything possible to help him blow it ultimately they didnt..

I like tomorrow over.

guess under was the correct play, not boasting as I stayed away all together as I thought the 8 seemed fair...
