Roy Halladay is 6-1-1 to Over last 8 starts where the loser wasn't shutout
(9.25 runs/game avg).

Halladay since scratched.

Zona team total under as per usual. Until they score over 4 runs, I'm playing it. Call me crazy but Zito +175 looks appealing. Jays team over at first glance....

Regarding the above play, one thing no one has talked about is the sheer hatred between these 2 teams. Would say it is many times greater the old feud between Texas and Oakland. Got to be thinking Tampa, Cleveland has left the building this season. Cubs and would take a look at Colorado first 5 tomorrow with Del La Rosa in a day game.

Fade Alert!!!

Might take a stab at Tigers and Rays

Tigers on a roll and have a little payback for the Twins in mind. Cleveland has packed it in, IMO. And rightly so. They're out of the race, and they just admitted it this week.

I would love betting De La Rosa in this spot vs Bush, but the fuckos have cost me about $4,500 this week, so I just can't bring myself to bet against them with the (probable) chance of losing yet more money on a game this team is a participant.

Vernon Wells left tonites game with a leg injury. Not sure if he plays tomorrow, but with Doc Halladay on the mound they should still have enough to beat the O's at home.

I might stop throwing a C note a day at the Reds getting +145 to +165-ish doggie junk.....

Twins are 2-10 away vs LHSP (9-3 over) but both SP have poor day splits . Slowley has lost 4 of his 5 day starts . Would like to play an over but hate to after they allow 18 runs . So thinking Tigers ML .

Over 8.5 SFG - The consecutive shutouts rule applies . However Zito in day starts has been terrible and dspite some good road starts his normal rest BAA is about 80-90 pts higher then his extended rest BAA. Maine's day ERA is around 4.50 and he has repeatedly gone 6 innings or less for awhile now . Might interested in SF at the price but they suck in day games and Mets solid vs LHSP.

Philly ML - Simply put Cards continue to struggle vs LHSP . Neither Looper or Moyer have good day splits and probably a good over spot.

Col ML?? (lean) - Fuck the Brewers ! I knew all day I was a sucker for laying the price (well in parlays and some -1.5 RL) and yet went ahead anyway cause I faded MILW yesterday and felt stupid. DeLaRosa pretty solid in day starts so might go 1st inn 5 ML . Bush ahs been real solid at home so hate to fade hime but both pens suck !!!

Arizona ML - Nats have not done much vs solid RHP for awhile now . Haren shut them down last time and Bergmann gets no run support . So probably under as well .

LAA ML - Salvage the split with there ace? Texas pen has got be thinning out with the extra workload and they STOLE the game today .

Cle ML- Laffey can go 7 + and we saw TB struggle in NY with the bats and have done so vs LHSP. Sonnastine has also been real solid and looking at the 1st 5 under or game under as well.

KC ML - Avoid the sweep ?

Pitt +1.5 RL - Maholm is so sold vs LHBs and well what else does NYY have really ? Moose has been solid but he was laboring last time @ Pitt . Might go Yanks ML and Pitt +1.5 and hope to catch another Yanks 1 run win .....

under in DC looks tasty..... not sure i would touch the full 9 due to the nats pen.

but first 5 wil get a serious look from me.

I have one that I really like Detroit -115

Tigers dominated the twins last year going 12-6 against their division mates. This year its been a different story as Minny has taken 7 of the first 11. The Twins lost 3 really tough games in Boston and their bullpen is just in shambles right now. Expect this 4 game set to be highly competitive. Tigers win an improbable game tonight and said I was gonna be on them till they lost at home. They've now won 7 in a row and 13 out of 14. Now I get em virtually at a pick with the Gambler who has great career numbers against the Twins. He had a pretty good month of June and going with the hot team that is now 2 games over .500.

Kansas
- has scored 5, 11, 8, 7, 4, 7, 1, 6, 7 & 6 run totals their last 10 home games at a 6.20 run clip.

- has scored 4, 4, 4, 11, 0, 12, 8, 7, 6 & 10 run totals their last 10 games vs lefty starters (shutout an IL road game) at a 6.60 run clip.

- is 13-4 to Over their last 17 games

- is 5-0 to Over off their last 5 instances of consecutive losses.

Buehrle was pitching over his head, and finally got found out his last start by, of all lineups, Oakland. 1 bad start doesnt make for a full correction.
3 starts vs KC since 07, WHIP 1.31, ERA 4.90

CWS eat righties for lunch, step on down headcase Greinke, who is 4-1 to Over his last 5 home starts, and who the WS have scored 8 ERs in 6 IP off this season. Greinkes last 6 starts vs AL teams = 28 ERs over 35 IP.

And the total is 8.5

Ump isn't great, but stats are nothing unreasonable except for the fact he's 9-3 to under this season (51-50 to Over last 5 seasons before 08), and it seems to me that with Unders generally dominating to this point of the season overall, any ump can simply luck onto a streak of fixtures he couldnt make go Over if he tried. Hohn isn't enough to prevent an Over if these teams are ready to repeat the dose of the last 2 days. If they are, he won't stop them.

I fail to see why, weather conditions excepted, these 2 teams can't manage 4 runs each here.

Minnesota this season

14-4 SU in interleague play
8-1 SU at home
6-3 SU on the road

14-10 SU vs AL teams .500 or less
8-7 SU at home
6-3 SU on the road

22-27 SU vs AL teams .500 or better
16-10 SU at home
_6-17 SU on the road ......................... hello, Detroit

Cincinnati Reds last 34 road games of offense -

16 totals between 0-2 runs .... O/U 4-10-2 ... 1-15 SU (7 opp. lefties)
_5 totals between 3-4 runs ..... O/U 2-3 ........ 2-3 SU (no opp. lefty)
13 totals of 5 or more runs ..... O/U 10-3 ...... 8-5 SU (7 opp lefties)

Another team who rarely delivers anything inbetween, esp. vs lefties.

Yet another study in extremes, the Mets last 20 games of all-or-nothing offense in the normal 9 regulation inns -

7, 1, 3, 2, 0, 8, 15, 0, 2, 3, 1, 7, 7 & 11, 2, 9, 2, 10, 7 & 5 run totals.

10 totals of 0-3 runs.
_1 totals of 4-6 runs.
_9 totals of 7+ runs.

It took a rain affected game for the Mets to finally deliver an "inbetween" total.

Forget about Halladay. Scratched. Awaiting a new number with former Oriole John Parrish on the hill.

Forget about Halladay. Scratched. Awaiting a new number with former Oriole John Parrish on the hill.

then IMO either that series or the KC/WS series def. has a 3rd straight Over result. (if not both of them).

TOR/BAL 7-6 & 9-8 scorelines

KC/CWS 7-8 & 6-7 scorelines.

You see it so often (a series with runs simply from start to finish), and here it involves a team in each series who has a built up reputation for being an Under team (TOR & KC), where there'll be fear of pushing one's luck to expect a 3rd straight game of offensive output.

The fact both are divisional match-ups I believe only plays into my expectations.

Really interested in Tampa 2marrow. Clev has lost 10 games in a row and are coming Home after being away last 8 games. They gotta be tired of losing all those games on the road. Line is in favor of Clev even though they can't win. I'll take Tampa at a near pick em and ride the obvious better team

Baltimore has one good arm in the bullpen - Johnson. That's it. Period.

Even Sherrill will be exposed sooner or later. He walks someone nearly every time he comes in and with a WHIP of 1.32, the odds will catch up with him very soon. Plus the league is getting a look at him. He's got that curveball and really not much else as a weapon.

Its certainly tempting to take that over, but I'd wait and see if Wells is playing and would caution against it with the chance of Guthrie going deep into the game. He's their best starter and the one starter on Baltimore that can wreck an UNDER. In 13 of his last 16 starts he's given up 3 ER or less. The only teams to score more off him in that span are the Cubs, Red Sox and A's. He's under 2 ER or less in 6 of his last 9 starts. Also note that he held the Jays to one run a few weeks back at Rodgers Center.

I'm kinda tempted on Seattle at +165. Dickey has been working his knuckleball lately and might ride the streak as well. Still need to look into things.

Also, at the risk of sounding argumentative - I wouldn't jump on St Lou or the over in Philly too fast. Moyer's numbers aren't nearly as bad as you'd think - in fact they're slightly better than the guy he's pitching against.

Moyer is a guy who never gets respect, and I don't quite get it. He's gone six straight starts without allowing more than three ER. Its his shitbag all or nothing offense that's the problem. They've scored a total of 7 runs in his last four starts. I'll be looking at that UNDER tomorrow.

I see 5 good road starts vs 3 bad ones for Guthrie vs AL teams. But I don't think there's any doubt an Over result would be led by Balty's hitting via an effort to avoid the sweep.

Of the 2 series game 3s, both have 1 decent starter (Guthrie/Buehrle) facing opponents in good hitting form (Toronto 5+ run totals in 6 of last 8 home games & 7+ run totals in 3 of last 4 games, and I mentioned KC's stats above).

Yeah Bet, I'm still thinking hard about that O's game. I'm not a believer in Parrish, but he burned me once this season. I had him pegged to get shelled and he pitched very well.

Look at Guthrie's road starts again vs. the AL again. 6 good ones (3ER or less) and 2 bad ones....

Both of these pens are in disarray, so I'm left a bit perplexed by this total. I may play Baltimore here. Still looking. It will interesting to see what price they come out with. Still no number at my place. I'm guessing TOR will be a -120 to -125.....

On the first look I like NYY (-1) or just ML. Mussina is solid lately. And NYY found the way how to win the games.
Arizona ML- Haren could be too much for Nats. Both teams struggle in offense. also under (probably first 5 innings).
White Sox with Buehrle on the mound.
That are my first leans, no play yet.

Gonna be on the NYM tomarrow with Maine. If the Mets can shutout a team with their inconsistent pitching 2 days in a row then the 3rd should be good pitching as well against a SF lineup that's worse than NYM. Day games are mostly good for the Mets. Zito hasn't been much all impressive.

I see 3 ending with ERAs of 6.00, 9.66 & 5.40 (3 ERs in 5 IP). Anything 5.00 or above I slot in the bad category.

starting to warm to Cleveland.

Signs are TBY is exhaling a big breath after going 17-4 SU their last 21 (only 1 of the 4 losses by more than 1 run) prior to hitting the road before the ASB. Offense peformed for so long (3+ runs in 15 straight games) before facing NYK, where they managed all of 1 run in 18 IP, incl. 1/3 of them by fatass Ponson. Tampa hitting lefties on the road at just .238 this season, and they have scored just 8 total runs their last 4 road games.

Sonnanstine has a WHIP of 1.35 & ERA of 5.23 on the road vs AL teams this season. His receiving an avg of 6.40 runs in support explains TBY going 4-1 SU in those starts. Signs aren't there he'll get that many Thursday. He hasn't faced CLE this season, had 1 start against them last season for 3 ERs in 6 IP (Ben Francisco doing most of the damage).
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The Tribe's offense is actually starting to come around (4.85 runs/game last 8 vs right handers) & Laffey has been excellent at home...

Overall at home this season
WHIP 1.07, ERA 2.15, opp avg 3.12 runs/game

last 5 at home vs AL teams
WHIP 1.03, ERA 0.54, opp avg 1.60 runs/game, CLE 4-1 SU

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tampa has lost 4 straight once this season, and hasn't done so since they got above, and not returned below, a .500 record. Who best to end such a streak against then losers of 10 straight Cleveland fielding a starter who has 1 win in his last 7 games - and Tampa is the Dog while themselves fielding a starter they've won 7 straight behind? That's not even mentioning the bullpen discrepancies (TBY #5 vs CLE #30)

Its almost a nonsense on the surface.

good stuff BC, I wish TB were playing basically any team EXCEPT Cleveland right now. Would have faded TB then, skipping now.

In regards to exhaling a big breath. Minnesota is now 0-3 in last 3 games after going 18-3 in previous 21.

They were absolutely shelled in series finale last night (18-5) despite going up early.

Let me state that the majority of their wins came against righty starters, as they teed off right handed pitching at a .335 clip in last 10 games. They have had success off LHPs as well (when you go 18-3 you have to beat both at a pretty impressive rate) but they hit "only" .285 off lefties. The gambler on the mound today.

Slowey was impressive in the past few weeks, but I think as team came back to Earth, so will he, at least to an extent.

Detroit erased a 6 run deficit last night, Minnesota got thumped for 18 runs after leading 3:0.

Rogers not impressive over his last 3 games (5.68 ERA) though...

may want to check lineups before pulling the trigger, leaning DET here.

Btw, due to the Boston series Minnesota pen now owns 8.37 ERA in last 10 games.

Detroit's pen (surprisingly) 1.85 ERA over last 10.

Starting to lean more to at least a split of Texas first half and Texas. Lackey with his 6.21 era in Texas and a ump he has done poorly with might be unlucky. Texas just a much better right hand hitting team seems like the pen is Anaheim's best chance to win. Still have to wonder why they are listed as a favorite.

Can anyone tell me what weather affects a knuckleball the most?

hot and humid is always best for Wakefield, so that would be my guess.

...i really like the DET O, but don't want to play it with all the under/neutral umps floating around because we know Reynolds won't be there cuz he just worked the DET-CLE series

Made my first bet. Detroit. Hate to bet old men. Oh well. Minn is 1-9 last 10 on the road vs lefties. Detroit is 16-4 last 20 at home. Rogers is still 6-2 at home. Wish he was on 4 days rest. Oh well. They want 15 cents to play Detroit. Actually thought the spread might be larger than that.

This season Bronson has an era over 11 on 5 days rest. Will be doing something with the Cubs.

Zito is getting better..........In his last 3 starts, two of them resulted in him giving up one ER in each, including last start vs LAD..............After being shut out in back to back games and Zito appearing to get it together, I think they are worth a shot today............

Anybody know whether John Parrish made a minor league start in between his last start against the Braves on June 28th. I don't see where he returned to Syracuse, which would mean he has had 11 days off since his last start. Although he is a veteran its hard to be extremely sharp with extended rest.
My book had Parrish listed vs Guthrie(+155) couldn't hit submit fast enough. Lasted all of about 3 minutes but was able to get a piece of that, Also parlayed Bal +155 and Over 7.5.

Getting interested in Seattle. Kellog 0-3 for 160 and up home chalk. Seattle doing what they like best. Beating up Oakland.

Damn, if you can get Guthrie at +155, hammer the fuck out of that. I'll be on Balt at anything above +130 for sure.

Does anybody know...Has Maholm pitched well against American league teams

I would loiok myself but

Me and work are having a disagreement, I feel I should be able to look at stats and my It department feels otherwise

Leaning on the M's myself tuck. The A's are just 1-3 in Smith's last 4 home starts. Also leaning over, as I think if Seattle's in this game they'll be hitting Smith. My concern is Dickeys career stats vs the A's- 25 ip, 37 hits 25 er & an baa of .352! Like the value on the M's, but I may opt for just the over.

Zona team u4-115 locked in. The Diamondbacks are now 7-14 in their last 21 road games, scoring over 4 runs in just 3 of these. I know it's Haren on the mound, but I just don't see how you can lay -145 road chalk with team that is 7-14 in their last 21 on the road. They are 3-5 in Haren's road starts, & scored over 4 runs in 2 of his 8 road appearances. Bergmann is scary, but Zona's offense is virtually non-existant.

Balt shows up at +118. That's where it should be.

Phils down to -130. I'm getting more at that number

StL/Philly over 10? Vegas seems to think an over will occur here- otherwise they wouldn't have thrown another 10 out there. After two lower scoring games, I can see some offensive fireworks today. In the final game of a road series, the Cardinals have had plenty of over results, especially following lower scoring games. 9-6 win @ KC after 2 games u9 runs each. 10-9 loss @ Wash off 2 games u7 runs each. Totals over 11 @sd, mil, col.

Colorado/Brewers over seems pretty obvious. De La Rosa vs Bush, tough not to see it sailing into DD.
