Wellemeyer -200....really?? I will take a shot at Ohlendorf who's had 4 quality starts in his 5 starts this year. He already held St. Louis to 2 runs and Albert is hitting but beyond that not too much production for the Cards lately.

Bos/Cle U10.5 My boy Sowers returns to the show and he's been throwing well in AAA 24 innings 6 earned. Ellsbury and Youk most likely sit this one out, Wake just owned the tribe last time out and don't expect too much to change here tonight. This line is just a little off especially w/ Boston missing 2 key bats.

To all the regular guys in this daily thread....thanks for your continued input...I enjoy reading it each day.

Some early thoughts:

Pitt-Stl: Wellemeyer has been rocky this season...he is walking less but his strikeout rate is way down and the league is hitting .358 off him...he allowed 14 base runners in 5 innings against the Bucs in Pittsburgh earlier this year. Ohlendorf has registered 4 quality starts in 5 outings and held the Cards to 2 runs in 6 innings in St. Louis earlier this season. He has become a ground ball machine and the price is high on the Cards.

SF-COl - Marquis has been a magician and jus tbeat Cain in SF however he is doing it with smoke and mirrors. His BABIP is extremely low which will catch up to him and Cain has been solid on the road....no reason the Rocks should be laying 140 in my opinion.

Sea-KC - Bannister is 25-26 in his career yet 12-4 in day games...food for thought...KC or under.

Nice season so far GameHunter. You quite popular at one forum I know of. They list your plays ion the service section everyday....not as a service...but just to post the plays. That's big-time.

Bannister was stellar in his first start at home and ok on the road but I like that game. KC has now won 7/8 against Seattle. KC is a much better offense with Guillen back and has some more pop. I see a team that has now won 5 in a row vs. a team that has now lost 3 in a row.

Thanks....got my lunch and dinner served to me on Tuesday in what was the worst day of the season for me...good bounce back on Wednesday thankfully.....heard something about that site but haven't really looked into it....feel free to point me in the right direction privately.....thanks for the kind thoughts B.A.R.....I may not post much here but I pop into this thread and Shortline's daily...I know where to find the knowledge on the internet.

And Bloomquist and Crisp have pounded Washburn in the past.

Loving KC tomorrow, RL is +170 too might be worth a stab for me..

Looking at the morning games now that the Dodgers look to have this wrapped up, man I dont know when this winning streak will end

Also DBacks seemed to gain a bit of momentum at the end of tonights game, starting with Justin Upton's catch + throw out @ home - then getting up that same inning and hitting a 2 run bomb,

-125 is kinda a lot vs Chris Young BUT...think DBacks are good for 3-4 runs,

I don't like taking Haren on the road before they head home (mentally for him) but probably will,

And I will also be on Pittsburgh +170

Wellemeyer is 0-2 w/ 8.2era at home this yr and has given up 5,4,5 in those games. Pitt hit him for 12hits and 5 runs when they faced him on 4/8 in St. Louie. Thinking just because of the outrageous price to take a stab at Pitt 1st 5 inning. Could see them jumping on the Cards early, after that, who knows..

I'm interested in Brew Crew who on rolling with their bats and have the better pitcher.

Probably going with Washington first 5 and another bet playing them for game.

Thinking Tampa again and over Boston and new York. very simply Wake has had his Indian summer and it ended. Sowers has lost 3 at Boston so they have seen him. cleveland has gone over this number in 7 of their last games. Why should it change?

Andy is just not very good any more. 8 walks in his last 2 starts and 9 runs in 11.2 innings. Tampa wants back to 500 and likes kicking Yankees. Two for the price of one. Just a flip flop game but Tampa still has better bats and superior pen so at the end they get the money but a lot of runs get scored.

Correct and the younger team will shine in the day game. Wolf does not pitch shut outs. more the 3 in 5 or 6 type so an easy bet against in first half. Will be betting less for the game. At this point the record has been made and these guys want to just kick back some. And vengence has been done for the 11-2.

Would say I have had more respect for them then almost anyone else at this site but I am old enough to know that nothing lasts for ever and i go with young against old when i can.

problem is dodgers hot at home, nats stink right now, especially on the road...price should be $2...

Prices change. Wednesday should have been 5 dollars. Thursday they may be overvalued. Its time for the streak to break and this is a good positional bet but as I said I will have more on first half. No Kip Wednesday but would think he could pitch today. Plus real chance the Dodgers rest some players.

Think I will be playing the high priced Angels too. Toronto is a funny team like Baltimore and i do usually do well with teams with quirks. especially teams that have scored 23 runs in the last 2 games, got a win with the current ace, have beaten up a young kid, and are going to be going with the future ace Friday.
may have a bad umpire in NY.

Locked in Minn ml. Will be laying 2.5 with the Angels.
May be changing my mind on KC. Just a possibility.

angels versus the jays are just a matchup that i completely layoff of. Look at the jay's stats at angels stadium. They fear no one there. I'd like the halos to win, but current bluejays are hitting .333 (12 for 36) off Jerweaver currently. Gonna be a spectator more then likely..gl

KC Game: bannister has been impressive in the day as mentioned above, but if you take alook at washburns splits he's 11-22 away, and 4-12 during the day...like game hunter said bloomquist and crisp have smacked the crap out of washburn, but he also could have mentioned dejesus, as he has had success against jerrod as well

Royals hitting LHP at .282 and .292 at home.

No chance I'd touch the Pitt/STL game. Price on Pitt looks stellar, but without good reason as you'd have to hope to get at least 6 innings out of Ohlendorf to justify a play. Pirate 'pen w/out Capps is just simply dreadful.

1st 5 on pirates is worth a play to me, Ohlendorf a better pitcher @ +money????

Exacatly. I dont know what happens after but I like my chances with Pitt early. I played Pitt +170 (1st 5), KC-120, and Giants +130 in the early games. I have gone back and forth on the Fish game, maybe over but have not touched.

Arizona Total is down to 6.5...is there really that much of a pitching match up here?!

padres batters have had decent succes against Haren, 7 seems a little too low

The Kansas City bullpen is in good shape and well rested ideally here off of Sidney Ponson’s Wednesday showing, and Brian Bannister can build a bridge to that pen. Bannister does not throw the ball past hitters, but he does have good command of the strike zone, and his 2-0/1.96 opening has him at the right confidence level. When facing a weak offense it is all about making them put the ball in play to beat you, and the Mariners are #13 in the A.L. in batting average, #12 in runs, #12 in home runs and tied for 14th in walks.I like the Royals in a B2B play for me...:tiphat:
another 2 unit play for me here...

I always try to find a reason to take over 7's but looking at Haren's starts this yr (6 starts) the team has only allowed 11 runs...Haren responsible for 7 of those

Tuck: You bring a lot to this place. I have disagreements with you today on Dodgers and Anaheim.

More particularly, the Dodgers.

I'll say this once for everyone - and it's one of the most pertinent things I've ever heard when it applies to this sport and this sport only...

A wise old bookmaker (the one who taught me the ultimate saying about gambling, "Winnin' ain't no accident")... gave me this one too...

He said "Don't ever try to make a losing team win or a winning team lose when it comes to betting"...

Basically, regardless of the price right now, you'd have to examine my head before you get me to bet against them, especially at home against all of this inferior competition.

Manny being suspended today only bolsters my play on the Dodgers, as the price came down even more. There isn't one player in baseball except for maybe Pujols that is worth 20 cents to the line. Yet the line opened cheap, and got cheaper after Manny was announced out.

Glad to see you not on the Nats, even if the reason you are off of them is not one that I agree with, hahaa...

Also, thanks for the BABIP on Marquis, gamehunter... please feel free to contribute that in here and Shorty's thread... stuff like that is hard for me to factor into my handicapping yet when I gave it a second look, it made me re-evaluate my price on Colorado and take a bigger stand on the Giants today....

:shake:

to continue with the dodger discussion..personally i think wolf is underpriced...Now compare him Lowe who i consider constantly overvalued...Look at there career stats, similar though on different teams....

Played Brew Crew -115. They are 12-3 in their last 15, 8-2 in their last 10, and are on their 3rd 4-game winning streak in this span. Now, they have yet to win 5 games in a row this season but I see a team that is catching some breaks and getting in a groove. Looper has good numbers against the Reds and he has pitched well in that park. Owings could be on tonight or he could blow up but I think there is more consistency with Looper who will hold the Reds to 3er or less over the course of 6innings tonight. Taking my chances here.

wolf worries me. Although he can reach low 90's he doesnt have an outpitch that kershaw and billingsley have. The only way the nats get this game is if they jump on wolf early cuz the dodger pen sure isnt giving much up.. Might be best to layoff until we can catch a pulse on the dodger team's real morale.

12 runs in an inning, for 0 outs

Wedge should be fired for that inning alone but its like the 5th time this week someone exploded on CLE late .

Like both arguements on the LAD game . I kinda think if your going to fade LAD here is the spot. Not so much the Manny situation but the fact that Wolf is hittable and Nats canget some runsoff him and Zimmerman is a true wildcard . High ceiling guy off a rough start were everyone rode him only adds to his luster IMO...

LAD home start is nice but Wash is the 1st team outside of the division . WASH also had to fly cross country after waiting around on that 10-10 game which if not for the 1 terrible inn was a ball game . Thing is with Cabrera you know what your getting and he actually did better then expected for awhile. Zimmerman could easily shutdown the LAD lineup but because of last start that is forgotten somewhat. Look at the game vs Peavy , Vs Chris Young , Scherzer , even Matt Cain early on...all close games its been the struggling SP or the weak SP LAD has takenadvantage of made only harder with Mannys absence . Gaudin , Geer , Cook , Jiminez ......

To me this is the game where LAD can be had easily but in the same breath not having Manny adds incentive for them.....this game will start and end with SP. Wolf has allowed a run in nearly every 1st inn this year so good chance Wash can play from ahead .....

GL

LAD will fall IMO w/o Manny because they have played just 4 games outside their terrible division . So what they have done is sort of a mirage because they havent layed the mets , phillies , brewers , marlins ,etc ..yet..not that they cant beat them but its hard to measure them when they have played teams inside their division which to me is very weak...

:cheers:the value will be to fade on the road, curious how they adjust the lines w/u manny
