Teams That Clinched Bowl, Teams With Five Wins

Let‘s list them here and find some betting edge for this week‘s games. Team name in bold for easy access.

Starting with Northwestern who clinched Conf playoff spot and Minnesota, who has five wins. NW plays at Minny.

Hawaii is 6-5 with two games left (UNLV & SDSt). I believe they would still need a 7th win because if they lose both they would have a losing record.

Also Air Force -Wyoming is bowl elimination game this week. Both are 4-6.

Good thread idea...here's one in a conference almost everything thinks overall is trash, as food for thought

Pac 12 teams MUST get 6 wins to be bowl eligible. They passed a rule about this in June.

Here are the current standings...

Let's take the 5-5 teams...

So assuming ND curb stomps SC, the Trojans will have to beat UCLA in order to get into a bowl. Bowl berths mean more money for the conference, so don't be "shocked" if there's an officiating "edge" to the men of Troy when they face off against UCLA, who is going nowhere...no matter how much Helton has lost this team.

Arizona heads to Pullman in a very tough spot this week....final game at home against bowl bound ASU...Cats will likely need that game for win #6...just food for thought

Buffs amidst the rumors of McIntyre being fired (which insane to me BTW) get the beat up Utes at home and finish on the road at Cal. Utah is the only team in the P12 South to never have made the championship game...and with a 3rd stringer at QB and their star RB gone for the year, I won't be shocked if there may be an "edge" to the Buffaloes on Saturday either.

This conference has been known for its god awful shady shenanigans with its referees...I'm not one for the conspiracy theories...but with the worst commissioner in all of CFB in Larry Scott, and a lack of money for its schools by not being smart enough to join up with the likes of DTV for its network TV package, I put nothing past this conference in order to get as many schools qualified for bowls as possible.

Again, just food for thought here, kids...

s--k, I could be wrong about this,, but I thought that with Hawaii getting the 13th game "exemption" that either they (or a team they had played) within the past few years had made a bowl at 6-7. Point being is that I think that it's just a matter of getting the 6th win for bowl eligibility.

Also, and again I could be wrong, but I thought that if a team played its conference title game and lost to go to 6-7, they would also be considered bowl eligible too.

Someone jump in if they know for sure, because I for sure am not 100% positive on this one.

There have been 6-7 teams when the slots can't be filled with enough qualified teams. It's a valid point though especially with Hawaii as they are always taking on that 13th game first week of December, usually against a P5 team trying to get bowl eligible

Ok State needs a sixth. They‘ve sucked against bad teams but shown up against every prestige opponent so far. They‘re home dogs to wvu.

So can we assume USC makes it to a bowl game? I mean how close are Lynn Swann and Larry Scott? I can already see USC in the Emerald Bowl or Las Vegas Bowl...lol! Las Vegas Bowl makes more sense to appeal to the LA Raiders fan *wink wink*

I wasn't sure myself on Hawaii. I looked it up...

excerpt:

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - There are only two things on Rainbow Warrior football head coach Nick Rolovich’s mind entering the team’s final home game of the season: 1) Winning to become bowl eligible. 2) Lifting a giant pineapple trophy in victory.

Hawaii is currently 6-5 on the season, just one win away from securing bowl eligibility. After starting 6-1, the Warriors have fell off pace over the past month with four-straight losses.

However, a much needed bye week appears to have done the trick as Rolovich is confident that his players and coaches are refreshed, anxious and ready to go to battle against UNLV on Saturday.

“They know what it’s about. I don’t think we’ve changed too much,” Rolovich said. “I thought we had a productive bye week but they know. We’re playing for pineapples and we’re playing for bowl games. And it’s not something we need to harp on I don’t think.”

Flirting with bowl eligibility for over a month, the Warriors will look to earn their seventh win of the season at Aloha Stadium against an inconsistent UNLV side that is already out of the running for a bowl game.

The Duq game doesnt count? I thought you were allowed one lower division win to count towards bowl eligibility

Must have as many wins as losses? Is that it?
Yeah, have to be .500 or better unless there isn’t enough qualifiers as someone else mentioned above. Then the 5-7 teams have to meet certain criteria (APR?) to be eligible for selection.

TCU can make a bowl if they win out. @Bay and Okie St at home next week. Just saying motivation should be equal for TCU and Baylor this week

Thing is TCU has been a dumpster fire for a couple months. Have a hard time just seeing them rack up two wins because they need to.

The good news for TCU is they play Baylor's D this week. If you are good at doing something you will do that thing well vs Baylor's D. Question is what is TCU O possibly good at?

Remember some years ago there were so many bowls but not enough 6 win teams so ones with just 5 wins got in? Lol that was pretty comical

Think I saw that this year there shouldn’t be any 5 win bowl teams. Don’t remember where I saw it, but just remember it standing out.

For some of the Sun Belt teams, winning 6 might not be enough:

Re ULL -

If the Cajuns do become bowl-eligible this year but don’t get to and win the SBC title game, their postseason destination would be uncertain — if they even get an invite.

The Sun Belt currently has tie-ins with four other bowls, not including its recently announced affiliation with the new Myrtle Beach Bowl in South Carolina, which doesn’t debut until 2020. Those games are played in Mobile and Montgomery, Alabama; Orlando, Florida; and Tucson, Arizona.

But five SBC teams already are bowl-eligible this year (Troy, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, UL Monroe and Arkansas State), and two others — UL and 5-5 Coastal Carolina — could still get there.

With a likely dearth of at-large spots in other bowls, up to two eligible Sun Belt teams could get shut out of postseason play.

That makes reaching, and winning, the title game a high priority for the Cajuns.

The road to it, however, isn’t easy.

According to the SBC:

“If ULM (6-4, 4-2) can take a win over West rival Arkansas State (6-4, 3-3) on the road (Saturday), and Louisiana (5-5, 3-3) falls in an upset to South Alabama (2-8, 1-5) in its home finale, the Warhawks will punch a ticket to the Sun Belt’s Championship Game.

“A win by both the Warhawks and Ragin’ Cajuns will set up a winner-take-all-game in Monroe between the two teams in the final Saturday of the regular season.

“An Arkansas State win over ULM on Saturday keeps the Red Wolves in the hunt for the West Division title.”

Also from the Sun Belt:

“Troy remains the league’s only unbeaten team in Sun Belt play. … The Trojans (8-2, 6-0) have a chance at locking up the East Division this weekend if they can win at home over Texas State (3-7, 1-5), coupled with an Appalachian State home loss to Georgia State (2-8, 1-5).

“If the Mountaineers (7-2, 5-1) win Saturday, regardless if Troy wins, it sets up a de facto championship game on Nov. 24 in Boone for the East title.”

Little of that matters for the Cajuns if they can’t beat South Alabama on Saturday.

I really don't want to lay 17.5 with ULL, but am hoping they have a rough 1st H perhaps and I will definitely be looking to take them on a cheaper 2nd H number should that present itself.
