**************Super Bowl Ingame***************

They need to use the clock with the tenths on it though, because that clock can say 0 and it's not really at 0. At least according to a few times I've heard it explained.
zero means zero. refs don't wait a full second after it hits zero to make a call. the clock was on zero before the snap.

There's nothing more annoying than teams who sit at the LOS and let 20 seconds run off the clock and snap it with 1 or 2 seconds left. Why not shorten the time between plays? It's waaaaaaaaaay too long as it stands now. There is under 12 minutes of actual game play in an NFL game to begin with, and the league could further their goal of having parity and close games, because it'd be much more difficult for a team to run out the clock in a game, or you at least couldn't start milking the clock in like the 3rd quarter, as teams often do now. So stupid to have that much time between plays.

That's just not true though. Zero doesn't mean zero because of the tenths explanation that's always given. You'd think that zero meant zero, but that clock goes to 0 when there are .9 seconds left. It's just math, don't be mad at me.

The "leeway" that you see officials giving is pretty much exactly that second between when the clock we see hits zero and the official clock hits zero.

Do you know how difficult it already is for the Browns to get the play off? They've had delay of games to START the game.

so they spend a billion on a new stadium and they can't find a play clock with tenths on it and they "keep official time on the field"? Seems a bit shady.

Don't disagree, they could get a clock with tenths. But the only reason they'd do that is to placate the fans...they're already keeping the official time on the field, and they're really the only ones who matter.

Hahaha.

The league is seemingly about 3 things. Well 4, but the #1 thing is money so we'll ignore that for this discussion. Parity, close games, and scoring. Shortening the play clock between plays increases all 3 of those things pretty much just by the act itself.

That "play" right there is a perfect example. What was the point of all of that? You ran one less play now for what reason? Because you're afraid that you may leave time on the clock for GB if you don't get a first down? GB can simply use their TOs themselves, so even if that was the reason, it's not a valid one.

I wonder how long it would last and how much it would be to do my backyard in the field turf like in Det?

Last 28 primetime games have gone 21-7 to Under in the 2nd h (6-2 L8 for SNF)

No Home team leading at halftime has lost SU on primetime so far this season (27 wins, 1 tie).

delay

lol ok

You really still hung up on the delay of game and whether or not the clock is hitting zero? (busting balls, no need to get angry)

Maybe BAR knows this (as he knew about the official time and using tenths of a second as well)...don't the officials have a little buzzer on their hip that alerts them when the play clock actually hits zero?
