Sunday MLB Discussion

Wakes splits this season are clear. Vs good teams hes been pretty much crap, and vs average to bad ones, hes been excellent.

His performance tonight is telling us what kind of team NYY is.

I am out BetCrimes . Good Luck the rest of the way this shit just aggravates me to much its so obvious its annoying to watch. Yanks coaches suck and Yanks have shit for brains..so easy to hit Wake its sad ...

I think the roles are reversed, now the Yanks are this 'shadow contenders' and the Sox are the big bad wolf. These guys are impressive, gotta hand it to em.

I mean without Manny (tonight) and Ortiz, and they're beating the crap out of the Yanks in this series.

Yanks go up there swinging at every pitch they are definetly crap. That 's the reason why they hit so well the past decade . They worked every pitcher and made them labor . When you have quality hitters at 7-8-9 thats pays huge dividends eventually. Yanks mine as well quit if they are going to swing at every pitch and what Posada was doing after 3-1 I have no clue .....

Youk another bitch ...

Yanks just dont play the game right and Boston does ...pretty much all it is . Wake is garbage if they just stay selective...he threw 7 knuckleballs for balls to Giambi and Posada.

I guess I keep waiting for NYY to get the patience memo that I have been yapping about since the series @ KC in April . Its comonsense throwing a knuckleball for a strike is tough and every pitch they swung at was a ball in teh 1st few innings .

Not hard to understand why Wakes last few starts vs NYY havent been good. I just dont know how people go through life stupid ....

We have a pulse ....the Joba pitch Youk kept me interested...do the Yanks wakeup..

Joe Morgans an idiot if he thinks those were strikes ...this isnt little league or arc ball ...

So happy Yankee veterans swinging at 1st pitches . Jeter's decline is due to his lack of selectivity and its the same reason Posada looked finished 2 seasons ago....

So sad Jeter gets doubled off. Abreu swung at ball 4 (probably ) ...and Yanks were 1 batter away from taking the lead . Wake had no chance vs ARod and Giambi...

Funny how Wake doesnt look nearly as good past 2 innings ...wonder why that is..

Boston could win 3 games on 1 hit ....nothing but bleeders , bloopers ,miscues and errors .....

guess thats 2 hits ....(good hit BC) .

Game 1 2runs on error and 2 runs on blooper down the line .
Game 2 Damon drops the ball he catches down 3-1 with 2out but instead now 3-3 . The ONLY HIT Lowell great HR vs 3 runs ....
Game 3 - zip
Game 4 - WP for a run , blooper for 2 runs , possible miscue allows Lugo to score ....

Wow that sad ....and that makes NYY twice as SAD in my book

they just do better when I leave the room. Jeter RBI single when I didnt watch , Posada single and Cano triple when I was out of the room....

Boston is not the better overall team . They have 1 edge on NYY SP . Which they dont have this evening . The SP gap is huge at this point though bewteen the two. Bullpen not really trusting of anyone for either outside of the closers . Boston is fairly consistent and defends fairly very well .

Look at it position by position and whatever spots Boston is better at most of the gaps are small . When NYY is better like SS and C even 3B the gap is huge .

Arod HR's as I type.... :shake:Hell I be the first to agree NYY is way overhyped but position for position they still are the most talented IMO .

Well SN I do respect your opinion but I think you are very biased when it comes to your Yanks. At this point if I were to go up and down the lineup I would definately take Pedroia, Ellsbury, Youklis, and Drew. Don't think the gap is that huge at C and 3B is a given but Lowell is still servicable. This game has played out exactly like I thought it would and am pretty happy to have my Bos +1.5 bet and a small ml play on the Sox as well. Agreed Joba really has great stuff and his potential is immense but he isn't a pitcher that can get into the 7th or 8th inning yet imo. Which is why I thought it was a little ridiculous to lay this price with the Yanks when it was very much a toss up when it got to the bullpens as we have seen so far. Also not sure the Yanks position by position have lived up to their salaries and expectations thus far this year. GL with your Yanks play hope they win by 1 if they win.

Lopez was brought in to deliver the Over, then pulled, lol

Another brillant move by a manager . Lets see Posada was 230 career vs Wake coming . Struck out looking terrible in the 2nd inning , struckout looking the 5th on a fastball , fastball , curve which he never swung at . Then bring in the LH Lopez to flip Posada around to his natural side where he is 293 this year vs 250 coming in to play . Oh and lets see like most LH specialist he struggles vs RHB at 273 coming in ....BRILLANT ! Thanks Terry

Over was easily the bigger of my 2 plays, didnt even bang enough on the +230 to make hedging worthwhile.

Still, gotta cheer on the beantown boys.

just noticed, this game has hit the cycle for RBIs

singled in run
doubled in run
tripled in run
homer

good hit BC thought the total should have been 9.5 and wish I had played the 8.5 by itself instead of sticking it in a parlay

No way have the Yanks lived up to there salaries our expectations . Thats not what I said . I meant indivual talent .

Varitek is in serious decline at the plate . 238-255-218 if Posada hit that he would be kicked out NYY . Then 122Ks in 435abs and 70 more this year in 242 abs . Posada battling injuries still a tremendous edge over Varitek. Obviously the throwing has been an issue but due to injury as he was excellent last year considering how poor NYY pitchers hold on runners.

Lowell is very solid but still barely All Star material . See people dont notice these things . Year 1 in Boston 20Hrs and 80 RBI and thats comparable how to Arod ? Last year 373 at Fenway and .276 away . Same atbats 14hrs 73 rbi compared to 7hrs 47 rbi . Granted there is no doubt he has been excellent but still see a tremendous gap bewteen the two players . One guy is booed for 45Hrs and 130 Rbi while the other is cheered for 20-120...the only reason its considerable gap IMO is because its ARod and because Lowell till now medicore on the road.

You would definetly take Pedroia ? Not sure how many GM's agree with that . I clearly think Pedroia is having the better year but Cano also didnt play in college so Pedroia has a nice head start. Still Cano was a good ML hitter from Day 1 . He hit 342 in his 1st full season and last 306 19hrs and 92 rbi compared to Pedroia's 8hrs 50 rbi and 317......Entering the season Cano was ahead probably well ahead of Pedroia and to his credit Dustin has narrowed the gap while Cano has slumped . Also Pedroia another one 351 home 282 away last year . Fenway is Coors like in padding offensive numbers ....

You can take Youk over Giambi. The only better LHB in the AL is David Ortiz . No one has come close to Giambi's production when healthy except huge problem is he has been often injured and played hurt . So Youk is having a solid year but last 2 seasons whats to get excited about ? 13-72 and 16-83 with 280 ish avg ?? In 2005 and 2006 in 417 abs and 446 abs Giambi had 32 Hrs -87 RBI and 37Hr 113 Rbi playing hurt in late 2006 and losing his MVP award in Sept because of it . While just like 2008 he started terrible in 2005 overcoming the tumor and offseason steroid scandal. OPS just under a 1.000 in both. This year in 60 less abs Giambi despite the slow start and 259 clip to 306 has the better OBP and OPS plus 5 more Hrs and the same RBI.

Jeter vs Lugo doesnt even need a discussion the gap is Strahan like .

JD Drew had one good month hitting before a red hot Manny . Notice Manny slowed down and so did he . So he hit 270 11 hrs and 64 Rbi and 270 lasy year 466 abs and one good June month in 2008 is worth more then Abreu? Drew 283 4hrs 22 rbi before June and 337 12 hrs 22 rbi in June . 1 good month puts him over the top? Abreu hasnt played well since 2006 in NYY but still prefer him and probably why he hits 3rd in the lineup . Drew would not hit 3rd in NYY .

Ellsbury is a very good all around player but think defensively Melky is as good as gets in CF . Ellsbury is the better hitter clearly but still doesnt have a full season under his belt . Minus the steals the stats dont overwhelm.

The bottomline with Joba is the only way to score against him as get the breaks . Whether he gives them with command issues or you luck out and get a break. Didnt see Youk 1st hit but the next 3 were barely hits . If I am pitching I am disgusted at how lucky the hitters are getting . No one as hit Joba yet but still he has allowed runs thats the difference in what keeps him from being an ALL STAR right now .

Everything Boston has done so far is basicaly off a Yankee mistake . They have 1 legit hit in Kevin Cash . Legit means hit the ball hard and right on the screws . No opposite field 0-2 ARod bloopers . Yanks have fucked up there share and are still tied if they got the breaks and little things working for them they would up 6 runs . However thats the difference NYY has been sloppy for awhile and never plays up to its potential . I never said they were a great team and probably would would agree that today Boston is a better team . Just not in the way people say it . Boston is playing up to its potential while NYY has its best SP on the DL , its best young SP on the DL and 2 LFs on the DL . All Boston is lacking is David Ortiz which is a huge hole but both Boston and NYY can survive the absence of 1 hitter . The Yankees have no players overperforming and only Damon and Arod playing to there potential . Dont think Pedroia , Youk , Drew or Lowell can play any better then they have....

I do love Boston SP....:shake:

Good Luck .

BC - I love the study of extremes . I dont do it quite as well organized as yourself but do alot of that type research and analysis myself . Big thing with me and clearly with you ( in a somewhat different manner though) is creating "profiles" for these teams . We say alot of teams go on extended "runs" of performing certain ways in certain situations whether its home or away , day or night , RH vs LH SP , games in a series . All very valuable info to know how they may trend and then apply it accordingly . I definetly do my best to "guess" how the game will play out and bet accordingly .

Excellent work especially with the Boston-NYY series I have done very well on the totals and alot of times your comments are what help soldifies my thoughts . Still fuming I wasnt around to see your Tor-LAA post . As I mentioned late yesterday I had felt Lackey was ready to get hit around some and happy I did have Tor but could have added to that play and been on the over ....Anyway just acknowledging I appreciate the work as does everyone else I am sure .

BOL today

just read your post above, Nut. I was completely blind to TOR having seen Lackey so much recently, otherwise I'd have gone for that Over myself.

Basically what I am saying is its the "little things " and fundamentals which Boston appear better then NYY. Once NYY started working the pitchers they started hitting while Boston was working Joba all night . Yanks somehow have lost the ability to work pitchers even Giambi's walks have drastically declined . Boston plays sound baseball like TB does and if its a close game late one expects Boston or TB to find ways to win . While NYY IMO is finding ways to lose by giving away atbats ...

Yanks just to inconsistent . No one realizes this team l28 games has allowed 3 runs or less 17 times . Probably because in 8 of them they allowed at least 6 runs .....

No wrong or right just the thing about sports everyone see things differently ....

I know that game flew over my head . I was rushing to leave the house and was trying to not force anything . I watched Lackeys last start the 1-0 game and said he labored his ass off in the 9th ( pulled with 2 outs) and said if he is on normal rest huge fade for me next time out and probably an over . Couldnt have asked for a better spot to play the over as it was 6.5 and Lackey off 120 pitches vs a team he was saying for the 3rd time since Mid May ....yeah that one pissed me off and probably why I played Tor-over and lost today......:36_11_6:

Yanks play like ass and still win

Another YANKEE comment can someone tell Mo they are swinging at his pitch everytime so do better with location . Look at every recent outing and the 1st pitch.....
