Detroit has not lost a weekend game this year (Sat/Sun). I have them at 9-0 going into tomorrow.

Tampa Bay hasn't played in the ESPN Sunday nighter spot since at least before the 2005 season, and possibly never. Which means it's gotta be looming to some degree in their consciousness as an event.

Toronto has only lost 1 series this season (4 game set at KC). Oakland has yet to win the 3rd game in a series in which they won the 1st game. Tor is hitting .356 against LHP on the season, and .312 in its last 10 games.

It is SUNDAY so that means GS under comes into play and it slide over on Saturday ...

Braves and Phillies two teams not easy to figure out . Based on SP looks like an over with Myers struggling and w/o his customary velocity . Not to mention poor history vs ATL but its RHB giving him troubles more so far and the longball ...actually lean ATL to some degree just think they are getting healthy now and have to think being swept at home last season by Philly never fades ....

Looks crazy but I did say that Cincy would win the series this weekend and think they get the sweep. Pujols and situational hitting were terrible by STL today ...Wainright doesnt seem sharp and Edison seems to be finding his groove just 5 hits allowed last 21 innings but command always a concern ...

Snell poor history on sundays as does Pitt but also some issues vs Mutts. Livan awful DAY splits in recent seasons..Over ??? The Pirates cant hit much though and now have scored 3 or less 9 of 11 away losses ....all things considered like the Mutts but not enough to play

Looks like Joba scratched for Aceves because he popped a blood vessel. Thought he would he be real solid vs Balt but still expect NYY to win here ....

Interesting game @ MILW have some interest in the Cubbies ..both SP throwing well but Marshall cant lead his team to a win unlike Suppan. Who has imroved since he couldnt find home plate @ Wrigley a month ago.

Probably look at SD 1st 5 ML maybe SD game as they get Oswalt who is not 100% and Geer for the most part keeps his team in games. Think HOU PEN is a mess and not be trusted but they already own 2 narrow wins this series...

Tex/ CWS- no opinion yet

SEA/Minny - remember bedard lost a win @ Minny earlier this season when his pen imploded but dont forget Twins at home vs LHSP are deadly (18-4 or so in 2008 ..??)However its SEA best chance to win a game and Mauer probably gets the day off

have to be somewhat interested in Cook to avoid the sweep asVolstad has not shown consistency on the road

like the over at LAA and dont be suprised if they sweep....

think A's win the series and had a mini rally late today so Braden looks interesting vs a kid making his 1st career road start

how can you lay -160 with a SP who hardly ever leads his team to a win and who cant hit a lick off LHP..?? 1-11 in 12 career starts and 9-1 UND past 10 starts ....WASH pen will be a tad thin though and think Mad Max could really shutdown the Nats bats ...maybe ZOna 1st 5 ML ..or game its all the same risk.....

mentioned on Friday bst way to play SF just might be take then for the series at +165 and hope they split on the 1st 2 games and have Lincecum deal on Sunday.....if you did that and you want to hedge you could have LAD at ++money but hard to pass on Lincecum although pricey considering its in LA....

for some reason just expect Boston to win the series especially after the beatdown today .......garza does own Boston but still like the RSOX.....

not as much damage of late or away though ..scored 3 vs Outman , got to Liriano after the 5th , 6th inn , score 2 vs Buerhle and think 2 vs Perkins in the past 4 away games vs LHS (1-3)..braden lost 1-0 @ Toronto as well....:shake:

Balt always great stats to fade on Sundays...

L20 Sunday games vs NYY 4-15-1
L15 in Balt on SUN vs NYY 3-12

L20 Sundays for Balt 4-16 at home only : 6-14 L20

Yanks though just 5-10 L15 away SUnday games......

could Balt win an actually sunday game ..?? mix in how bad they are in day games probably not as Yanks tend to bounce back after beatdowns..

career on the road on sunday

Thinking the side in that game may be hell itself but leaning to Cleveland over or Cleveland team total over. Neither side will go easily here. Reyes is the stopper for this team and he actually pitches better in the day than people realize so my first thought was actually a first half under but then I looked again. He is a reasonably good day pitcher but Detroit in day games averages 6.5 runs and they really want to win and give the kid support. Meanwhiles Reyes gets Great support. Do not think these pitchers will be able to contain it.

bossox 14-6 L20 home sunday games including 13-4 since start of 08 season. also 6-0-1 UND past 7 in those games and 10-2-1 UND past 13 home sundays....

last TB win on sunday in boston ? April 1999 losing 6 straight since ...not suprising given the series history though

becket 13-7 L20 home sunday starts but just 2-5 L7 ...garza 0-3 away on sunday as a ray....

gl

few quick thoughts...

hard to lean to sf though they may have better pitcher, shouldnt be laying in lala land...

pods, you cant back as they fallen apart, though who knows about oswalts health...

arizona is too high as well, as scherzer is more reputation than anything else right now...

have to give the angels credit, injuries and all are gritty and find ways to win...

sportsnut, i know you track the salami, friday nite was under? and that was first under in last 7 or eight or so not cancelled?

sportsnut, i know you track the salami, friday nite was under? and that was first under in last 7 or eight or so not cancelled?

it was under but not sure how long the stretch was ...a few UND cancelled because of rain ...

one thing that is an issue is the fact there were no off days this week so pens could be quite THIN....

Would like the Dodgers. In fact I might play them but Jeff has a bad history I believe in day games. May still be worth a bet.

can see the value in LAD but Lincecum has been good vs them and they fly EAST to Philly after this game . One of those headscratching games IMO but Sandoval also Sat out . Think Timmy keeps them to 3 runs and that should be enough but would I ay -135 in LAD ? Nope....

hanley ramirez has been on a tear last few days, but the rest of the lineup struggling (cantu the other producer)

Not much seems clear to me yet. Reading BC makes me lean to Detroit.
feel almost certain Philadelphia wins tomorrow. Thinking rl and first half. Myers has had trouble with Atlanta but his opponents were top flight. This Atlanta starter is almost unimaginably bad. Atlanta has a huge game the next day while Philadelphia is off. why any team would fight for that starter---more like an infection than a player. remember I was involved in his last start. I actually saw how amazingly bad he is. Myers is 6-5 last 11 at home with many great wins. This is a monster mismatch made worse by the Lowe-Santana match.
I know how bad the Cardinals have been on the road on weekends but Wainwright has done fine on sunday and he is their best road pitcher plus the Reds wins at home were against true dreck. But to be fair I do see the Reds as a favorite. Just see the line about fair.
Need to research Weaver's day problems. Any one have good input on how current they are please fill us in. Actually have to play the Dodgers. not optional. Dodgers have a great pen. Their starter pitched a complete game today. Weaver can pitch 3 innings and rest and one of the best home teams in Baseball can just stick in good arm after good arm and that ump likes home dogs so that is 2 forced bets
Lean to Baltimore. Baltimore last 10 at home is 3-7 on Sunday. Yanks away last 10 on Sunday 2-8. See Baltimore with about as good a starter and better pen. yanks do have an edge in day hitting but Baltimore really hates them and to some extent feel they can just step it up when they want.
baltimore 4-6 last 10 at home. Yanks 5-5 away some edge to Yanks. last 10 for each I see 4-6. I know the Baltimore starter is good and think the Yankee starter may be good. Just seems like if their is value it is with Baltimore but small.
Probably doing nothing in Colorado except the total over. pretty much feel colorado and cleveland both have shamed themselves and deserve nothing. Arizona has played tough the entire series. May actually play them again. bad luck is something you can forgive. Cleveland got great starts from their staff. They played like cowards and deserve to be walked on. colorado needs to take a long look at themselves and decide if they want to be a team. Do think Cook is playing better but we have seen a giant yellow stripe painted on Colorado while Florida has played like a determined team worth respect. When Colorado did not stand up for Marquiz who had been their best hope when he finally had a bad game--they gave back nothing and deserve a foot on their head. Cashed against them today for 1 of my very few winners and that felt good.
Think Texas is just the better team and that Colon's wins were cheap garbage but I am scared of that umpire.
Would like the angels. truely love the way they are playing but they score so little in the day. even less than KC and Davies is pretty good in the day and KC should be motivated to avenge Greinke.
Bedard to blackburn is a mismatch but see seattle as unplayable so Blackburn would be my choice if I play right now. Really the same as the others. They have failed repeatedly despite great efforts by their staff and the team should be handled. But they did hit some today and Bedard is certainly a factor so really no idea what to do.
Agree that the Padres are the right side tomorrow. decent starter and they have played tough every game. Houston stinks as large chalk and the padres may very well be the best team.
Thinking Tampa. Some umpire features I like relating to the starters and once again they are playing so hard they deserve support and see Garza as probably the better pitcher. Does Beckett's mother like him. does anyone like him. Any player on that team? Why. Have seen better behavior from the criminally insane. That very real contempt does not force a bet but most features argue for one. See the price at game time.
Lean Toronto but unlikely to play. What we have seen recently is Toronto being too Bothered by whatever to stand up for their young players. Have no doubt they could win but hope they burn a game they may need later looking ahead to the BIG Game tomorrow. They hung two young players that deserved some help from their team out to dry like a pack of cowards and would truely love to see it cost them. the Toronto mantra is just Halladay. No help for that young kid Ray and no help for Richmond who had been a much better player for them than Halladay. Lets just say they deserve a streak of bad luck and Oakland maybe a little good luck. Done good night all.

Went over and made some bets. Can not play Arizona. Too high. Hope they win but 54 cents is trying to get me to bet the other side. Not going to do it though. Max and that team both deserve some luck.

Philadelphia started out a 10.5. It was moved down. Philadelphia off a loss this season 6-2 over. They are facing batting practice. Based on team averages in day games this game should hit 12.4 runs. I am betting it over and have reduced the side because of his poor history on 4 days rest.

Question for you day/night split guys. When you examine it do you take into consideration that certain ballparks play differently in the daytime and therefore effects pitchers day/night splits ?? Pttsburgh and PNC comes to mind for me and looking over the four major starters 3 year splits ....

maholm -- 4.40 night , 5.35 day
duke ---- 4.32 night , 5.93 day
snell ----4.18 night , 5.70 day
gorzelanny --4.60 night , 4.78 day
....

.... it appears to be true. Where do you get away day/night splits numbers ??

I went TT on phillies Over 5 -120... Hopefully they come through today

I had the Mutts TT Over last time Kawakami pitched and he is VERY lucky to get out of that game with 2 runs. If David Wright didn't suck, he easily gives up 5+. I am trying to figure out a way to play against Kawakami today. Juice on the TT for the Phils is -135

it went up for awhile at bookmaker but it dropped back down to -115 juice about 20 mins ago

looks like lefty stairs resting werth is the only significant change that i see.

thanks for that info

The Mutts might of been 1/9 with RISP against this guy. He was very lucky. I dont believe his shoulder is ok either. Going into that start he was suppose to have a tired shoulder and I don't believe it is gone. Phillies is just a tough lineup to go through and doubt they get shut down 2 days in a row

it went up for awhile at bookmaker but it dropped back down to -115 juice about 20 mins ago
I thought that provided good value, considering the move on the game total to 10.5. I missed the 10 and played Phil TT over 5 -15.

tuck good post...passed on the ATL/ Philly game as it started to look and more like philly was the better option...did lay ATL 1st to score prop though....

under in GS ...really havent decided on much else yet...

This is a good question and I think my approach tends to be I think backwards. So in your example if I saw glaring trends would ask what is making this occur ? Which ballpark conditions could be one of the answers , essentially though looking at the stats as a reflection of the situation not an indication of the pitcher . Really there isnt a glaring difference between pitching day or night IMO...

I think the 1st thing for me is I treat everything LH as quirky and apply that mentality to day games . Meaning that TEAMS do have clear biases against LHP that hold up and teams in day games/starts do as well . So being less games are played in the day and vs LHP unless their is CLEAR differences then I say take it with a grain of salt and in your example weigh night starts as more "true" ...

so guess the basis of my answer is dont take stats literally w/o asking why they are occurring . Especially because games are played under so many contexts it clearly hard how to say that stats which are essentially lumped together are accurate points of production ..we just have no choice but to use them as tools ...

PM when you have a chance its easier to discuss then we can always put in a thread for others to read and comment ..:shake:

Cubbies ML -

fade Suppan in the day essentially..his few home starts in MILW vs CHI have not been good ..Milw nice record vs LHSP but havent really swung the bats that well in those games so if they are outpitching teams who throw LH then today dont think that happens...pen edge to Chi as well even though its slight ...

GL nut- Im on it too but hate this lineup.

Theriot and d lee both hit .400+ against soupcan and are not in the lineup. Lee having neck issues, theriot no idea why hes not in there.

so instead we have aaron miles who is 1-6 career and the worthless milton bradley whos 0-7 against soupcan... and hoffpauir but hes been swinging the bat well.

Look at this joke lineup. Thank gd the screwers are throwing soup can.

think most teams would love to have CHi 1,2,3,4,5 hitters even if Bradly and Soto havent hit ...depleted and all lineup still better then most teams IMO...:shake:
