I think its generally agreed Messi is a bit better overall but I think so many outside factors in it too
Messi has always had better team, better team play, and a more stable environment around him
Ronaldo much more of a solo player
the Barcelona version of Messi as a peak is the best ever, but an argument can be made that so much of that is the youth system set up imprinted at Barca since these guys were in their teens and who knows if he would have reached the same heights on a different path
for Ronaldo the argument can be made that he has proven himself in different situations, teams, leagues etc.
