Mets in trouble -

Johan is starting on 3 days rest and is already off a career high 125 pitches on Tuesday ......

Baseball IMO isn't even worth betting on anymore. These teams fighting for their playoff lives can't even show up (Mets, Twins, and White Sox today). The Brew Crew won but if any of these 4 teams were to fail, I thought it was gonna be them...........go figure.

Last time I can jump on the bandwagon, but just don't see how I can sit it out:

Greg Smith is 25-4 UNDER this season.

Greg Smith is 16-1 UNDER on the road.

Rowland Smith is coming in off 6 consecutive quality starts.

yikes...just noticed Crawford behind the plate with the lowest strike percentage in baseball this season.....wow......is it possible I sit this one out?

Another last chance to jump on the bandwagon:

John Lannan has been a road warrior for the Nats and one of the best road pitchers in the NL. In 16 road starts this year, he has tossed 99.1 innings and has a 3.08 ERA and .250 average allowed. What I find more interesting, is how solid he is over the first 5 innings on the road. If you ignore his last road start at Shea two weeks ago when the score was 10-8 after 5, here are the total runs scored by both teams in all 15 of Lannan's other road starts during the first 5 innings:

4,0,2,1,4,3,1,2,3,1,4,3,1,3,2

Tomorrow's 5 inning total is 5. 15 out of 16 times on the road, Lannan has gone under for the first 5 innings.

In Lannan's 16 road starts, he is 10-4-2 on the 5 inning line.

I will be on Washington in the first 5 innings and the UNDER for the first 5.

Javy on 3 days rest and Zack Jackson ERA north of 5 smells like an over, too...

that fuck has been killing me lately

winning against galaragga, beckett, and i had another loss in there too.

in the boston game this motherfucker gave up about 8 deep fly balls, a bunch to the warning track, couple of 2-out doubles off the wall in fenway but somehow escaped only giving up 2 runs, and one was a solo jack to papi.

i can name 3 separate occurences when he almost gave up a 3 run jack.
hes the luckiest gas can out there.

if the wind is blowing out, i would probably play it. this shithead gives up so many deep fly balls its amazing how many dont creep out.

cws are a home run hitting team, and the way this gas-can gives up the deep ball i would consider it

i hate zach jackson so im probably going to stay away from this game altogehter:whip:

Minnesota seems a fair price to me.

From my pov, you explain their effort Friday thus - You can't underestimate what it took out of them to sweep the Sox, mentally/emotionally more than physically, and of course the climax was that come from the dead, extra-innings win in game 3. They then start a series against an opponent who they certainly had no reason to fear, certainly not take as seriously as, say, an opponent called the Yankees, or Red Sox, or Angels. So in the shadow of their series effort vs the WS, they didn't have an opponent carrying enough of a threat psychologically to snap them out of the stupor that no doubt followed on from what they'd just achieved.

Without doubt Game 1's result will well and truly have snapped that stupor. Because of the WS/CLE result, instead of feeling down about their loss (which they no doubt would've if the WS had regained the division lead, and therefore then carry a lethargy into Saturday's game), ironically these guys are going to be energised by it - because they dodged a big bullet.

Perkins has had his good/bad starts at home, but looks like a 6 IP for 3 ERs kind of guy on an average day. I'd expect at the least an average effort here from him. Few of the current crop of KC players have seen Perkins, and the majority of the ABs they do have were at Kauffman stadium.

Meche has the following lines vs MIN this season
5.2 IP, 8 baserunners, 6 ERs - road
6.0 IP, 9 baserunners, 5 ERs - home
6.1 IP, 12 baserunners, 4 ERs - home
= WHIP 1.61, ERA 7.50

Kansas has scored 6, 5, 10 & 8 run totals their last 4 games (all on the road). This season they have only twice previously totaled at least 5 runs over 4 straight games, and subsequently totaled 3 & 4 runs in the games off those streaks (both home games). So automatically there is season long offensive inertia to the Royals putting up another 5+ run effort on Saturday.

As for Minnesota, since May 1st they've scored 7, 9, 7, 11, 5, 6 & 13 run totals (avg 8.28 runs/game) when playing a home game after being held to 2 runs or less in their previous game. The fact of the Twins being held to 1 run Friday has a season long trend pointing one way regarding expectations for what kind of offensive effort to expect from them Saturday, and Meche's efforts against them this season obviously present no inertia to this trend.

Minnesota is 9-1 SU their last 10 instances of playing a home game off a home loss (sole loss in 12 innings to the Yankees).

There always winds up being an angle that presents itself . I just think its useless to jump in early . I am always putting in last sec plays but went something like 9-4 in bases and 4-1 in props so there is definetly value . I hit KC 1st 5 inn , game ML and +1.5 today ...

Think its obvious the last few innings of games are breaking down . So alot of teams are only playing 4 or 5 innings of real baseball...Overs were crzy today ...

I faded bot the Twins and WSox ...like anything else whenever a team is sliding why expect a bounce back the next day ? Game might have significant meaning but if they are playing poor its tough to just win . It starts with good SP and you can see its tough at this time. Plus pens are stretched with no days off for teams .....

Milw is gambling with Sheets and pitching CC on short rest for the 3rd straight start ......

Overs went 11-3 today

1st 5 under @ Fenway might be of interest even with Ponson's woes ...

Moyers Day stats were medicore all season

No Way I trust Sheets but Milw does have some momentum now....

Might look at ATL with Parr depending on how many RHBs he faces

KC ML again

who knows till tmrw really...like to see lineups at this point:cheers:

Actually very interesting about Minny after a Loss.

KC is a very different lineup now that they are relatibely healthy and have added a legit bat in Ryan Shealy to the middle . Aviles - Guillen - Shealy - Butler is very solid 3-6 hitters statistically especially when facing a LHP .

Not sure I could weigh Meche starts vs Monny either as two came in the beginning of April which if we excluded that month Gil Meche has Cy Young caliber stats since . His last came at time when he was pitching well and his team playing horribly as it was to avoid a sweep .

Perkins has allowed at least 4 runs in 8 of 10 now ...really struggle to finish the season

:cheers:

Mets in trouble -

Johan is starting on 3 days rest and is already off a career high 125 pitches on Tuesday ......

Too add to this.......

This is a playoff stat from 2004 with SANTANA on 3 days rest.

game 1
- 93 pitches
3 days rest
game 4
vs NYY 5.0 IP 5 Hits 1 Run 3 Walks 7 Strikouts 87 pitches

Outcome - Twinkies LOST the game to the YANKS

Perkins 4 home starts from that sample of his last 10 yields an ERA of 3.85, which fits under a projection of 6 IP for 3 ERs.

Kansas has lost 3 of Meche's last 4 road starts, their only win vs a completely uninterested Detroit team they swept. Meche's purple period this season has long since ended -

To June 10th.......: KC 3-10 SU in his starts*
Jun 15th-Aug 15th: KC 11-1 SU in his starts
From August 20th.: KC 2-3 SU in his starts*

*excluding vs Detroit, who he has owned at any time this season.

Betting a KC Meche start has been a pocket burner (3-6 SU away, 2-7 SU at home) if it wasn't from that 2 month period in the middle of the season or vs a team called the Detroit Tigers.

Minny murders righties in home games (.296) and they've treated Meche, as a righty, accordingly this season. The whole reason Minny leads their division is because they are brutal on their opponents at home especially off a loss there. Personally I think it's folly to lay cash against them in such a situation, esp. when there's no mountain of negative angles against them on paper to act as an inertia to such a result. From my pov, if you don't like the Twins in a home game off a home loss, pass.

Can someone answer me this - if Milwaukee & the Mets finish with the same record, do they play a 1 off game to see who makes the p.s., or does the fact the Mets have a 4-2 season record lead head-to-head mean tied records see the Mutts go through?

^
1-game playoff, betcrimes, HTH record means nothing in MLB.

Coin flip determines home field in the game, they may have already flipped that coin, I didn't hear.

Excellent stuff BC. I kinda broke it down a little different on a more start to start basis with Meche. It boils down to me thinking KC isjust playing great baseball but when you have a trend like Minny at home after a loss its tough to get involved. I just may ride with the KC TT over . This team is swinging well and Perkins home or away doesnt mean much IMO as he has really started to struggle. he had 2 good starts vs a couple of teams who were allergic to LH at the time he faced them IMO . I recall how terrible SEA was vs LHSP for a long stretch and after a few innings they were smoking Perkins ....

I guess what I am saying the thing I see as most relevant in Minny at home after a LOSS trend....

As for the mets game .....Johan has allowed 4 runs in 6 , 5.2 and 5 inn the past 3 years each time he started on short rest .....

So looking at FLA +1.5 and Over ....:cheers:start pushed back to 1:25

More KC chatter ....

Meche is prone to 1st inn struggles so looking at 1st INN YES there will be a score Prop ......

The deeper I look at Meche and the better he looks IMO but as BC said that Twins trend is solid and tough to overlook......

He has 7 2nd H away starts ......would say 6 are very good and the only poor one was @ CLE and I discount that cause he previous start was avery good home outing vs CLE. So few days later always a disadvantage to the SP to see the same team...which his team is 4-2 in the 6 good ones....

@Det 6 inn 4h 2 r 2bb 4k
@Det 7inn 5h 2 r 1bb 6k
@Cle 7inn 3h 3r 1er 1bb 9k
@NYY 6inn 6h 1 r 2bb 8k
@Oak 7inn 5h 2r 2bb 8k
@Chi 6.1inn 2h 1r 1bb 6k

39.1 inn 25h 9bb 41 K in 6 starts ....

Prebreak he had 10 away starts and 6 were as good as the above 6 mentioned or better and he had 4 medicore ones....so of 17 road starts he has 12 very good ones also his few poor 2nd H starts al seemed to occur with 1 extra day rest and he is on his normla turn here....

Perkins just 2 solid starts in the past 10 and they were exceptional but it was @ LAA and vs NYY after LAA swpet them so ...not overly impressive desite 17 scoreless innings .....

Think I may go 1st in KC and 1st inn score yes and maybe KC over 4 runs as well if I get real risky maybe play Twins ML for BC:cheers:

Why don't they give the Chicago market Twins and Royals? This Cubs game means nothing to Chicago.

Just one of those years...

Both of those teams probably have their best starters going tomorrow vs guys with ERAs north of 5.00, & while for Buehrle it will be on short rest the WS in turn get the least experienced opposing starter.

But above the stats, I have to wonder about Minnesota. I can excuse 1 limp effort immediately following on from that hard WS series, but 2? That reeks of a team mentally choking.

its all down to the final day

WS showin nothin to think they win tomm even with Buerhle and Tribe sure as shit aint gonna pack it in...they want to stick it to them...how can u not keep takin tribe here

Twins thankful they decide their own fate after losin 2 at home with title on line.....
