Everyone got the post All-Star break doldrums?

Let's hear some thoughts...

Everything starts by 8:10 Eastern tomorrow. I LOVE IT!!!

First glances: Sanchez getting no home respect tomorrow in the day game. What do his day and home splits look like?

Wandy as a home dog, I like.

Is Jurrjens okay? Scratched from his scheduled start and now laying 2-to-1 against a capable Lannan?

Billingsley is clearly the Dodger ace for now, but Haren is a stud and anything less than -130 for him looks a little cheap.

No way can the Yankees lay 3-to-2 or better against Duchs.

Beckett is gonna be about -130 or so and the total 8-ish against Saunders.

Halladay looks real cheap against a slumping Garza.

Meche at plus-140 or better might hold some value but the ChiSox really came out swinging tonight against Grienke.

Agree on A's/+135?! He's on a roll. Good odds.

Agree On Toronto...But Hit Now Or Later?! Will odds go up or down tonight...

De La Rosa has conceded 16 ERs in his last 13.2 IP

Y Herrera has 1 start, 4.1 IP for 15 baserunners & 6 ERs

and Pittsburgh, an Over machine of a team, has gone into a venue thats recently been reliving it's high scoring past and churned out 2 Unders in a row.

3 straight Unders by Pitt? at Colorado? with these 2 stiffs on the mound?

First glances: Sanchez getting no home respect tomorrow in the day game. What do his day and home splits look like?

He got torched against MIL this season already, 4 IP, 7 H, 7 ER.

Sanchez is 3-1, 5.25 ERA in day games this season, as opposed to 3.15 at night.

2-2, 3.13 at home.

Sheets is 4-2, 3.56 ERA in day games and 6-1, 2.79 ERA on the road.

vs SF in 2008, 9 IP, 5 H, 0 ER.

I see that sean ghallager is replacing dush. Someone brought it to my attention and I see it listed on SBR. My book still has dusch. Anyone thinking the line will change dramatically?

Played Colorado over 11 plus 5 cents. Moderate under umpire. Just seems like a lucky bet. Like Colorado too. Just saw BC above. Minor details help overs. One of the best Pitt hitters will be back for tomorrows game and something else----Oh yeah. Pitt on the road on Saturday last 20 is 18-2 over. I Wonder what they put up for the first 5 innings :tiphat:

No real opinon on the Frisco game yet. Would be on Sheets easily but he did throw 42 pitches in the All-Star game.

I just grabbed the Yanks with Joba the sicko, knowing that Gallagher is now gonna be pitching. I took it action b/c they still have Dusch listed. Got em at -152.

so is Gallagher starting then or what?

If he is, the Yankees should rip him a new one. This is a NL pitcher that everyone raised their eyebrows to UNTIL he had his first game and pitched 7 innings of 2 hit baseball against the Angels. So now he's all ok?

Remember, those were the soft hitting Angels, and that was in Oakland, where he was welcomed warmly, pitchers' park, etc...

Now travel to the Bronx. Again, IF he is starting. Duchscherer is a beast, but Gallagher is just an ok pitcher, only proven so far somewhat in the NL.

made a play on NYY -1 without the listed pitchers. I can easily hedge it or buy something out if Duch is starting after all.

+

Homer ump, 15-8 this year.

Whats the point. In most books action bet odds Shift with new pitchers. Not gaining anything.

But if you lock in a line under action at -152 and then it changes overnight to let's say -175, don't you still have the line that you got at -152 b/c you picked action over listed pitcher? I mean why else do they have that option?

WTF now Pinny won't let me make an unlisted bet. I UNCHECK the pitchers but they still say::

7Expand 9:35pm 18-Jul-08 10:05am 19-Jul-08 Baseball
Run Line Oakland Athletics vs New York Yankees (-1) for Game 1.962
MLB (J. Duchscherer must start / J. Chamberlain must start)

What the?

Maybe their catching on and in the process of changing it?

If you bet action, you don't get the quoted price on action (-152 in this case)... You get the first price the sportsbook posts when they change the pitcher.

That's standard. It's been that way for years in nearly every place I've ever heard of.

You're not getting anything over on the books trying to bet the game before they switch the pitcher.

My bad. I've never tried to post an action wager on a possible game where the pitching might change overnight. So then what is the action wager for? If a pitcher goes out unexpectedly before gametime in the same day?

More or less. The action just ensures that you're going to have action on a team regardless of who pitches for either side.

You also have the option of betting on 'home listed' or 'away listed' or some type of that variation, where you are either betting ON or AGAINST a certain pitcher.

Still, you are stuck with the first price the book throws up on the new pitcher.

Also the total in baltimore is a joke. Should be 9u -115 , -120. The posted 10 is one of the worst numbers of the year.

I feel like all of you guys rushing to pound the Yankees vs. Gallagher when you didn't want to do it against Duke are proof that its just way too hard to know these games when you try to follow every single team. Duke actually held the Yankees line down enough where the line on Joba was good considering that the A's offense is pathetic, and that Duke won't blow anybody away.

But Gallagher is the kind of high K/9 young guy who occasionally gives the Yankees these days some trouble. I think he could actually do better than Duchsherer. Only problem is that I don't foresee the A's scoring any runs. I want to see what the under is at...because that could be the way to go.

I thought Hernandez would open as a bigger fave, but then I looked at Hernandez vs Texas this season, and I see why. Rangers have won 8-7 and 10-0 when facing Hernandez this season. Harrison has shown promise against the White Sox as a fave and the Angels as a dog. I hate betting against MIN when they are at home, but this 17-4 in their L21 home games will come to an end. Texas hitters know Livian and MIN will be guessing on Harrison, and if this game becomes a shootout, I like my chances with the Rangers. GL everyone

what about getting even better odds on A's by parlaying it with under since chances of them winning a slugfest are so low. Also, it goes with the road/under theory with 1/2 less inning...

If Gallagher pitches as well as he did last time, should fly under. I just get worried that the A's bats will wake up. Parlays can hurt ya in the long run. But a small play wouldn't hurt.

dstang,

the road/under theory is that if road teams win the game flies under? I always feel if home teams win it stays under because one AB is lost for the team, and the road teams often don't come back and send it to extra's, imo.

Wrong, sir.

Road/OVER is the way to go. Or Home/UNDER.

There will be one-half MORE inning if the road team is winning after 8 1/2.

Some of these prices have gotten out of control.

ur right my mistake, typed faster than I thought, still like A's in a low scoring game if they have any chance, just doesn't follow that theory....

I just noticed a pitching change for Seattle from the overnight line. Batista for Washburn. Sorry if this has already been posted somewhere else.

Have made quite a few bets. One recent one was Seattle. Sorry but Batista minus 6 cents is an overreaction to the situation which I and the Days both agree on.. Lee pitches tomorrow for Cleveland

I'm dumping a unit on my A's. +185 seems too high for Gallagher when Duke was only +135. The right line is probably more like +150.

Last 9 road wins by Oakland broke 5-3-1 under. Last 9 road wins at Yankees broke 5 under and 4 over. Correlation in practice does not seem strong enough but it easily could have been. Every game is enginering. Rules are guidelines but not Chains. We are allowed to Think about each situation.

Whats up fellas ...quick comments on Yanks game.

I understand where Rex is coming from with his Joba observation but its really not true . He is still in that power pitcher , amped up reliever , strikeout mode where he is setting up hitters and throwing his filthest pitch everytime rather then focusing on just throwing strikes . Which is why his pitch counts get high qucikly at times . I think Girardi especially should be aware of this mindset. Trying to teach him so not as much as to pitch to contact but teach him to save his best fastball or slider when he has 2 strikes on batters or is in a tight spot . Posada also said his last start was the best curveball that Joba has had so far in 2008 ....

Last outing he had the shaky 4th inning and nearly unhittable the rest. He walked ZERO batters and STRUCKOUT 9. Granted he has walked 21 as a SP (think 42 INN or 4.50 BB per 9 as a SP) and 4 on many ocassions and never went 7 innings. I think its more his approach then command. My opinion though...Think today is clearly a day with some rest after the Break that he can throw 7 innings or better .

OAK lineup outside of the game vs Garland in its past 10 has not had double digit hits and yesterdays 9 was the 2nd highest total ( all off Moose by the way) . Mussina to Joba much diferent stuff we all agree. Look at what the Yankee pen did vs them. If you missed it 3 perfect innings with 6 Ks and that was Robertson -Ramirez-Hawkins who had his 2 seamer working . Also Oak 3-21 L3 games with RISP......

1 3 4 2 4 3 9 1 3 1 Oak runs past 10 games

1 4 0 1 4 5 4 4 1 Yanks runs allowed last 9 games

So we can see Yanks pitching fairly well lately and Oak not doing much on offense . In 4 games so far vs NYY the A's have scored 1 run in three of them and 8 when Rasner started .

Since ARod came back vs BALT :

Yanks RUNS allowed at home has been a study of extremes as BetCrimes would say: ( by series - the 1 game series was the makeup game vs NYM)

12 0 1
2 6 5
9 1 8
2 11 3 3
0 5 1
4 6 1
15
2 3 7
7 6 1 4
0 1
1

16 games allowed 3 Runs or less (12-4 W-L ) / (1-14-1 Over )
2 games 4 runs (1-1 W-L)
12 games 5 + runs ( 5 of them 8+ runs) (6-6 W/L)

19-11 W-L (12-10 vs RHP and 7-1 vs LHP)

Always tough to predict things after the AS Break . However one thing I do feel holds true is this weather in day games is really a power pitchers best friend. I remember 2 days I had one of better Fastballs was a 100+ degree game I won 1-0 on Father Days in the ACBL Summer League ( Local College wood bat summer league , weaker version of the Cape Cod League) and another college game down in Fla ....ahh the good old days anyway point is you walk to the hill your loose as could be and usually it just jumps out of your hand.

Enter Joba and Gallagher ....both clearly fit the mold.

Yanks showed patience early yesterday getting something like 14 baserunners in teh first 4 innings ....Always the key with there offense. They had Cano's stats with bases loaded yesterday and career he is like .208 . Basically because he doesnt work the pitcher ever so being over agressive when the pitcher is in a jam clearly negates the situation and pressure on him to be perfect .

Also important remember Sean Gallagher falls into the NEVER SEEN Category that Yanks seem to struggle with ....

Think it might be a great chance to dabble with Yanks ML and Under Parlay and A's +1.5 RL to Under parlay ...

Remember Yanks 12-4 allowing 3 runs or less since ARod returned but just as important 14-1-1 UNDER in those games as well

If yesterdays game couldnt go over then todays matchup is tougher IMO ...

Yanks also 22-8 UNDER in day games .....

Going to play the parlays more on the Yank ML then A's +1.5 RL to UNDERS

Play :
Yanks 1st 5 inn Under 4.5 runs
Under 8.5 runs as well....

Not overly strong...

These teams in the Bronx are killing me. The Yankees and their team full of overpaid *******. Jeter, Abreau, Giambi, A-Rod go 0 for 9 in the first 5 innings.

13 hits, 2 errors, and 3 runs.....

Boston's been pretty productive vs LHP, and Beckett has better away splits then Saunders has home splits. I'll bite at this price.

3-2 OAK.. surprsied they didnt bunt him to thrid but worked out .. u got Yanks ML or RL JD? If you should be pissed at anyone be pissed at Posada and AROD. Posada two bad throws and looked lost at the plate today hitting
