well pelfrey and a struggling mets club laying that much?!?!? i don't care who's pitching, you have a chance - 15 -12 Nats win

kinda like Hampton

can Big Unit do it again?

that's first glance for me

I think so.. Zona's LHP struggles are well documented and he is familiar with the lineup

- since I prefer the Braves to win the series looking at Lowe if anything ..

- cant lay big prices with the Mets so maybe Nats ML or 1st ML although can see Pelfrey pitching well ..

- Ubaldo just a different SP at home and also like Rocks to win the series and MacDonald probably hasnt pitched ever in Coors ...

- probably expect FLA to bounce back

- Zona still not showing anything vs LHSP but hard to go back to the well with Unit here...

- Over Yanks is a play IMO and maybe Yanks who are doing nice job of losing before AJ pitches and having him be the stopper..

- WSox ML after this beatdown but have to look at the stats...

- really like how Pavano pitched at NYY and probably back the Tribe . Again these totals on teh surface are insane in DDs now 10.5 .....(see my comments in FRI thread)

- Over @ Balt ? mostly because the Tex bats that are hitting are the RHBs..but its a huge number ....

not sure about the rest yet to even an offer any opinion:cheers:

Its a poor memory that does not work both ways. I will be on Oakland fairly heavy. At this point might as well start a over chase in Boston.

nut - what makes you think Pelfrey pitches well?

and I love that AZ struggles with the lefties Crimson, but seems too easy or something

i forgot about Pavanos performance, looks like a lot of people are thinking he same thing - that started at pinny @ -110 and jumped to -120's

Just recall he pitched well vs Wash last season and think teams with free swinging RHBs definetly play into his strength . Still by no means do I have interest in the Mets , just think its a game where pelfrey can get back on track...

looked up the past meetings and was better then I expected with 3 outstanding starts in 4 last season...

I try my best to avoid games involving the big unit.. His games are like a box of chocolates..

Just locked in Oakland for 1.5 units plus 15 cents. Need to see ump info before deciding on alternate rl.

with the way the mariners have been playing and the halos very injury depleted...carlos silva @ 2.00 has some value? he's up against Anthony ortega

Pretty sure that I will be on Atlanta ML here . As I said strong belief they win the series , played them with Javy today because of that , so looking to see whats the better spot Sat or Sunday which if they lose Sat always have Sun to bounce back with ....

Arroyo as mentioned by some others in the past in these discussions thread is not a fan of pitching in day games and the stats certainly imply that as well .

Reds are 2-8 L10 Sat starts for Arroyo and 3-9 L12 games on Sat plus 31-63 as home pups bewteen +110 to +150....

Braves were terrible and shorthanded much of last season so I dont really pay much attention to there trends to be honest ...and Reds were 8-1 L9 hosting ATL yet opened as pups ....

The deal with Arroyo has been the same in my eyes . He drops down and throws 3 quarters and relies heavily on a slurve his version of a slider but more a sweeping slider then true overhandpower slider . Anyway this makes him tough on RHBs and vulnerable to LHBs because the ball is breaking intp the hitting zone rather then out of it like vs RHs...so teams with LHBs can give him problems..

In 3 starts obviously limited data but LH 342 vs RH .242 but while suprising he has a 2bb to 7 k ratio vs LH and 4bb to 2 K ratio vs RH. This signals that he probably is not sharp because he cant finish off RHs...

You can see in 2008 he K'd 3 to 1 vs BBs against RHBs but about 1.5 to 1 vs LHBs and the difference in BAA ....also Hrs always an issue..

Day vs Night ...299 v 276 LYR , .326 vs .268 in '07 , .240 vs .247 in '06 but slightily higher WHIP but day ERA was 4.29 to 2.52 at night..

McCann and Anderson heading to the DL definetly hurts .

Kelly Johnson 3/6 2 doubles bb
Escobar 0/2
Chipper 9/20 2hrs 6 rbi 4bb 2 k
Kotchman 6/12 double hr 2 rbi
Francouer 3/13 Hr Rbi 5ks (but 3/7 last 2 years)
Norton 1/3 Hr 2 rbi (guessing he starts for Diaz)
Ross ---
Schafer --

you can see the LHs have solid numbers vs him and McCann smoked him but also notice the lefties have almost never struckout vs Arroyo either in 41 abs just 2 by Chipper

Now Lowe on the other hand tends to be similiar to Arroyo as far as LH v RH splits but this year he has held LHs to a 154 clip(which hisgreat start vs Philly is really the cause) with RH giving him some trouble..in fact Lowe also has some issues with day starts but not as pronounced IMO as Arroyo ......

Taveras 2/15 obb 2k
Hairston 7/31 1rbi but expect Dickerson to start
Votto 1/3
Phillips 0/6 0bb 2k
Bruce 0/1 bb
Encarnacion 1/6 0bb 2k solo hr
Hernandez 3/18 0bb 1k
Gonzalez 6/13 , 3rbi..

vs Lowe career

Because of the Day issues looking at the Over 9 as well ...Braves 5 hrs 32 rbi .300 avg in 5 day games but to date ATL has struggled to hit RHP...for Reds 6 day games .243 3hrs 22 rbi but scary 23bb 52 K ratio...Encarnacion , Gonzo , Phillips were .125 , .133 and .172 vs RH entering FRiday ..

Now on Sunday Owings deals vs Kawakami seems favorable to ATL but Owings 1st home start with Cincy and he is 2-0 vs ATL in 2 starts 3.46 ERA .191 BAA....while Kawakami has been decent but nothing special to date in 3 starts .....

:cheers:decide tmrw when lineups come out

Pelfrey was skipped last start as well so not sure how he is here despite the good track record. Cabrera has been decent but dropped all 3 starts and Nats like 10-42 L52 away ...Pelfrey was much better at home in 2008 but had some struggles in day starts..both havd had issues vs LH in the past and Cabrera has had some awful ERAs in day starts ...Nats 16-41 L57 Saturdays , 12-46 L58 away vs RHP but Pelfrey 2-12 L14 vs NL EAST also dropped two 1-0 games to Wash last year ...if the total wasnt so high an over would be enticing ...

Burnett 5-0 2.56 ERA in 8 starts vs Boston with 212 BAA. 3-0 in 3 starts @ Fenway ....

9 inn 3 h 1r 1bb 5 k(2006)
7.2 inn 3h 0r 5bb 5k(2008)
6inn 3h 1r(unearned) 3bb 6 K (2008)

Yanks are 3-3 vs Beckett at Fenway but in somewhat recent starts he has been better. Still just 3 times did he allow less then 3 runs but Yanks didnt HR vs him in all of 2008 which is impressive to me .....

On paper one of those games that looks like an under especially with the 4 PM start time but with the tons of runners stranded today the game had so many chances to fly over and I like to ride that angle the next day . So looking at the over and will probably play the Yanks ...

Remember Yanks are not the best team in Series openers but solid in Game 2s and on ..

Over is 21-8 L29 meetings in Boston , over 23-6-2 L3 game 2s for Boston , beckett just 3-8 vs teams with winning records L11 ..

FOr Oak Braden has improved each time out and faced some good teams so far . Losers of 5 straight with Eveland on deck this becomes a crucial game . Eveland has been solid vs TB in the past but also failed to complete the 5th last 2 starts but thought Yanks caught some breaks as well last time. Garza is tough to figure but he was terrible vs CWS after 2 good starts...Cahill didnt give OAK a chance tonight and think that is key to remember

No idea what to expect from Boggs but STL sees Marshall again as well , over looks interesting ..

But a win requires some run support from Oakland. I'll just stay away from this one.

Havent played anything yet but if I play OAK its because of Braden (might stay with +1.5 RL ) . Have to look it u but think Garza was great at bouncing back after a bad start last season and equally as good at having a rough start after a very good one..little consistency but lots of extremesfrom what I recall...

Rays matchup well vs LHs and have hit them for avg but results have not been good . Now just 1-5 vs LHSP scoring 2 3 2 3 4 7 ...

:shake:

Really would like to play Pavano but its very hard to do it. 0-5 on the Covers chart and 2-8 last 10 at home on Saturday makes it hard even though Slowey looks like an easy target.

Kellogg is behind the plate. 22-11 for the home side last season; 0-4 this season. :shake:

Perfect example of why Ump stats are somewhat meaningless if taken at face value ...

He umped the season opener in Philly then CC @ KC with Ramirez (+200 home up) , Scott Bakers 1st start off the DL and kid still isnt right after a terrible ST, then last start was Volstad vs Cabrera and another Wash en meltdown.....

Think its really important to use the breakdown of prices when looking at umps and JimFeist used to be great at showing umpire full season logs but havent used the site this year . Just to early in the season to worry much about who is umping because pitchers still arent in form yet . Once they get there and its getting close then the umps become more helpful in evaluation IMO..

What jumps at me when looking at Kellogg ...

8-0 with Small chalk less then -120 and 4-1 big chalk above -181 , you go to 2007 and see the same thing 3-0 small chalk and 5-0 big chalk ,in 2006 4-1 small chalk but just 1-3 big chalk , 04 & 05 was 3-1 small chalk and 8-4 big chalk .....

so last 5 seasons :
Kellogg is 18-2 with home favs less then -120
18-8 with home favs above -181

inbewteen that he was 6-7 , 9-8 , 6-4 (4-0 in 161 to 180 range), 4-2 , 6-5 ...

so only 31-26 as home favs bewteen -121 and -180 ....

Home pups:
04 : 3-1 +130 or less , 2-5 above that
05: 1-1 , 0-1
06: 7-3 , 1-3
07: 4-6 , xxx(only 1-5 +100 to +110 )
08: 3-3 , 2-2

18-14 +130 or less and 5-11 +131 or higher

Last 5 seasons :
Home Favs :
18-2 (<-120)
31-26 (-121 to -180) includes a 4-0 season in the upper range of the bracket which depending on the lines could spill into the higher -181 bracket but thats just a guess
18-8 (-181 and above) includes 9-1 last 2 seasons
Home Pups:
18-14 (+100 to +130)
5-11 (+131 or greater)

So the one edge is clearly when you have Kellogg doing a small a home fav as its hit 90% over 5 seasons(though small home pups L3 years is also 11-5) and my point in the 1st section is just that who starts is so important when looking at ump info . He has umped 4 games and 2 home teams had little chance of winning (Baker off the DL and KC a poor team vs LHP facing CC) , he had the season opener for the WS Champs a historically poor spot for the champs especially at home , then he had the worst team in baseball and they blew another 9th inning lead....

:shake:

I had a pretty good feel for the games yesterday and the chisox cost me HEAVY...

atl @ cin : im with nut on this one. i like the braves alot. i thought i liked the under but the number is way too high and it is in the GAB. i'll be on the braves ML again.

was @ nym : nut, this is the spot i'll probably be playing washington ML and +1.5, but definitely +1.5.. the over might be worth a shot but ill lay off.

den @ no : i like the new orleans hornets somehow. before the series i was telling people that i thought denver heavily outmatches NO and it could be an ugly sweep. i'll lay the points but i have a feeling i might have to sweat it out with some free throws at the end.

Jimbo share you pain on the good feel but one game killing you aspect ..insert COL for me ...last minute I decided to play the Jays though . One reason I did it was the fact they had a 10 game road trip and played that game yesterday on no rest which ATL also did and lost...other was line kinda seemed to cheap ...cant fault yourself for laying the CWS it made sense just saw the situational aspect of it and who would have know Floyd would be terrible...so just a heads up seems like teams at least early on are losing religiously in the no rest off a long trip spot and also teams going West for the 1st time seem to be struggling that 1st game not sure about going East ...Pitt lost yesterday in that role ...

think in hoops the 1st Q is always important to these teams down 2-0 . Played it with DET yesterday and might again here . These teams really need a good start IMO on their home floor otherwise its a tall order mentally IMO...

playing ATL ML and possibly 1st 5 over or game over ...hard to imagine at least 1 SP doesnt struggle here and well its obvious who my guess is ...

playing the Mets over as well. Liked the over when I glanced at it originally but thought 9.5 was kinda high but my backwards logic tells me when a line that seems high goes higher without a clear cut obvious reason probably should trust my initial instinct and forget the value arguement .....beautiful day here in NY as well doesnt hurt....

played Oak +1.5 and looking at either / both A's 1st 5 ML or ML ...maybe under

Looking at Cubs and actually maybe under ..Cards have beem medicore vs opposing LHSP think scored 4 , 4 , 5 , 3 , 6 runs in those home games and Oliver Perez was the latest and was the product of meltdown inning which is an Ollie trait IMO ..Cards are 19/76 off Marshall I believe and the abs dont seem to show any strong edges for STL yet off Marshall...Boggs is a guessing game but was brutal his last home start in the end of 2008 sure that is in the back off his mind ..Bradley seems out still and Ramirez looks like he gets a day off here...might opt for STL TT under rather then under ...

hard to pass on the Yanks and Under when looking at past history but the over makes sense IMO because of the glut of baserunners yesterday that were stranded . How many key DPs did we see ? Beckett tends to play over at home and get run support which does contradict Burnetts fine Fenway past...the pens are ?? - didnt see anyone who really concerned me in Boston think DelCarmen and Pap are the 2 guys to avoid while Bruney is battling elbow issues and was in NY yesterday getting tests , Mo was stretched a little yesterday ...Marte as well ..they should be okay but for short outings ....dont think Edwar Ramirez has enough to work be consistent yet ...so when the Yanks pen has been bad its unraveled rather quickly but otheriwse has been near perfect ..

thanks for your thoughts my friend. let's get this money today.

Sounds good . Good Luck today ..also played Home teams ML just now ..road teams kicked ass yesterday going 10-5 with 4 home team wins by 1 run .....bunch of home teams I like so far as well (FLA , CLE two that I havent mentioned much )...

stumbled upon the fact it looked like when AJ won he always pitched well but when he lost(even ND's) he pitched poorly at least in comparision - the breakdown above

Beckett pitched well on 6+ days but was just 1-4 with a 3.31 ERA ( though never actually except in the playoffs on 6 days rest pitching on the 7th) but was similiar to AJ in his ERA was 5.75 in losses and also nearly 5.50 at home if I recall ...last 2 seasons huge discrepenacy bewteen home v away ERA like 2 runs ! only see 1 start a season last 2 years for Beckett on 6 days inbewteen starts and 5 inn in the playoff and 7hits , 3 runs in 5.2 @ CWS in 2007 ..

think just sitting in the bullpen to be honest ...:shake:

If thats the case he is working on 15 days rest, hard to figure out what they expect to get out of him. Hard to try to beat the Cards at home right now but a definite wild card on the hill. Guess thats why its a pk

Think Ross was able to give any insight to Atlanta on how Arroyo has success? I mean he was behind the dish for the majority of Arroyo's starts in the past. Not sure how that plays into this one but just something to think about.

Braves ML , -1.5 RL , 1st 5 over 4.5 -120 , over 9 +105 , ATL TT over 4.5 and 1st to score ATL -170 ....

Mets Over 10 -120 , Nats +160

A's +1.5 RL -150

Over 9 +105 Yanks

Cubs ML

Indians ML

Marlins ML

Home Teams ML -150

NOH 1st Q -1.5 -115

thats what I have so far with basically 1 unit on each maybe a few dogs or props like .75 unit and ATL and Over 10 Mets have 2 units on early ....

GL ...still alot that I am looking at ...

he actually had 2 innings of work in the cubs series 4/17 so still alot of rest but he looked okay it seems ..2inn 2 h 1 r 1bb 3 Ks..:shake:

Based on the Covers chart ws had to lose that game to set up for Mark at home on Saturday. Note they changed the rotation so he would pitch here tonight on Saturday. Not a fan of chalk and i always liked brian but----WS

Certainly hope so KMacc. To bad Francouer hit into a deuce and Diaz whiffed but at least I feel wise about the RH v LH breakdown last nite on this game ...GL bro

Would agree Tuck its CWS or pass .....

be back later so GL everyone ...looks like NOH is done .....

Chipper 3 run blast and early 6-0 lead certainly nice to already cash 3 plays on that game in the top 2nd but long way to go still

Just remembered that Burres last season had an odd trend of being real solid on long rest I believe and terrible every 5th day when he started . It could be vice versa but remember it was real extreme so check to see when his last minor league start was ...

Also wavering on FLA some . Forget they were off the sweep and that loss was crushing on the heels of it . Just a heads up I may change my mind on that game and pass....

well NOH was sleeping for 7 or so minutes and now is alive so might play them 2nd H ...

Rare parlay. Dallas in nba ml to WS listed ml. Lets call it a Saturday Night Special.
Brians last start was a good 6 innings on the 19th

new orleans looks good 2nd half. i knew i liked em even when they were down but i have to admit i thought no way can they get back in this when it was 22-6. i now have full confidence in my -4.5 bet.

damn you washington. i won one bet on this minor league team but they are dangerous to bet on. maybe they will get a rally going after getting out of that bases loaded jam. wishful thinking...:whip:

i like dallas mav ML. i look for this to be a low scoring close game and my book is hanging the 5 and i think spurs can cover that.

chc @ stl : stl squeaked by with a win yesterday but today it's time for the cubs to unleash a beatdown. marshall is an excellent pitcher and boggs is going to get lit today. extreme value on cubs here and ill gladly lay -1.5..

tb @ oak : i like oakland and under but moreso oakland. think braden keeps rollin. garza can be crazy.

nyy @ bos : should be another good one. it's too bad about the game yesterday as i had the yanks. maybe under 1st 5 and over for the game. it's too tough betting against boston for me right now. can't touch a side.

wow....lowe gets out of the huge jam. cincy had 2nd and 3rd no outs...lowe strikes out the side! got some pretty generous calls there

Chicago vs. St. Louis

Chicago Cubs (8-7) at St. Louis Cardinals (12-5), 4:10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals are heating up and will shoot for their fifth straight win when they continue a three-game series versus the NL Central-rival Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium.
St. Louis posted its fourth consecutive victory with Friday's 4-3 triumph over the Cubs in the series opener, as Ryan Ludwick singled home the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the way. Joe Thurston had a two-run double and Skip Schumaker also knocked in a run for the Cardinals, who were coming off a three-game sweep of the New York Mets and won their eighth straight at home.
Adam Wainwright started for St. Louis and yielded three runs -- one earned -- on seven hits with six strikeouts in the no-decision. Kyle McClellan tossed a scoreless eighth to earn the win and Ryan Franklin worked around a two-out walk in the ninth to notch his fifth save of the season.
Mitchell Boggs gets the nod this afternoon for the Cardinals and is 0-0 with 4.50 ERA this season. He made his season debut on April 17 at Chicago and tossed two innings of relief, allowing one run and two hits in an 8-7 loss.
It was the right-hander's first appearance against the Cubs.
Chicago has dropped a season high three straight games and opened a six-game road trip with Friday's defeat. Mike Fontenot and Micah Hoffpauir both drove in a run for Chicago, which has lost five of its last eight games.
Cubs starter Ryan Dempster did not factor in the decision after giving up three runs and seven hits in six innings. Carlos Marmol, who left the game because of an undisclosed leg injury, was saddled with the loss for yielding the go-ahead run in the eighth.
The Cubs will also visit Arizona for three games in the desert, and will send Sean Marshall to the mound on Saturday. He is 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA in three games (one start) this season. After two relief appearances to begin the year, Marshall started his last outing on April 16 versus St. Louis and did not record a decision.
He was reached for three runs and seven hits in five innings of a 7-4 loss to the Cards at Wrigley Field. The lanky left-hander is 2-1 with a 3.67 earned run average in 10 career games (six starts) against St. Louis.
Chicago won two of three games against St. Louis at Wrigley Field from April 16-18 this season. The series was originally slated to be four games, but the finale was postponed because of rain and rescheduled for a July 12th day-night doubleheader.

Kind of talking myself out of Cubbies and Yanks ML plays and looks like just sticking to the A's+1.5 RL for sides....Under 10 STL and small plays on 1st 5 under and ST TT under and Yanks over and 1st 5 inn over , more on the full game ...

:cheers:GL

darn push on the Mets total...

Under Cubs 10 and Over Yanks with some the 1st H plays the same ...+1.5 RL Oakland ...essentially what I have have ..Cards under 5 runs as well...

Awful card... only play that really stands out to me is colorado.

rocks just faced mcdonald recently and while he put up decent numbers, the kid was at home and it was a blowout win and he got plenty of run support. now, he has to go to coors, with the wind blowing out, and i look for the rocks to get to him seeing him the second time.
ubaldo much better at home and he has not had a home start all season, and i hope he can get his mechanics issues resolved and look for a very solid outing from him today.

dodgers are probably resting furcal as well.

am also a little involved with the white sox, fading the jays after their implosion yesterday, and sox off a shutout. buehrle has great numbers against the jays and they at times, have had their struggles against lefties on the road.
have white sox to finish off a belgium jupiler league ML parlay with anderlecht and standard liege winning, lol. anyways..

also small play on florida ML to bounceback after yesterdays debacle and fade of chan ho on the road... and small play on the over in laa/sea.GL

mil @ hou : like houston but there has to be better games to bet on.

phi @ fla : like the over for sure and not sure about the side but philly is the better team and the odds are still kinda inflated because of florida's hot start.

lad @ col : like the rocks a good amount and slight lean to the under but ill just take the side here.

sf @ ari : the unit against his ol buddies again. i like it alot. thanks for the nice underdog odds. i like the under but it's probably a little cliche.

tor @ cws : i lost heavy on the white sox yesterday so im going to lay off here but i like the sox. i hope they win but these odds seem a little high against the hot hitting jays.

min @ cle : like the over here if anything. the side seems pretty tough because i think both sp's get hit pretty hard.

tex @ bal : feldman's last few starts have been near jokes. believe it or not i'm loving the under. i'll be on it

det @ kc : i like detroit a lot. this zach isn't as good as the one i bet on yesterday but he'll do. detroit is the better offense without a question and they will out muscle kc.

sea @ laa : i like seattle quite a bit. i'll probably be on it.
