Saratoga Race Course Week #3 discussion.......

Race 3: Like the 2 taking the biggest drops in class, #5 is top choice and also like #4 at a bit of a price

Pick 3: 4,5/2,7/3,6,9,11
 
I'm looking right now....

R1 The #4 has the most speed and if he isn't pressed too hard by #1 and #3 early may be able to wire them at a nice price. 2-2 at the distance. The 6 is a drop down but has never won at this distance. Looks like an underlay.
 
R2 gotta respect the #5's connections, but does he have a turf/route pedigree out of Uncle Mo? The #9 doesn't seem to have done much in his works but has the right pedigree. Chad is returning $2.57 on 1st turf, $2.38 on 1st starters, and $4.07!! for debuts at > 1 mile.
 
R3 Chad again with a 2 YO 1st time starter. Works don't stand out too much, neither do any of the others. I'll take the #4.
 
R4 #6 came up empty in the stretch as even money favorite at even money to finish 4th. #3 Vyjack closed into a hot pass to pass him and finish 3rd, but I wasn't very impressed. #4 shows up every time, isn't graded stakes material but this could be a nice spot for him and I think 4-1 would be a gift.
 
R6 #2 dropping down and cutting back after setting the pace in the Westchester at AQU. Should be able to bury this field.
 
R7 Chad looks strong with the #9, but when in doubt use Philadelphia Seamus's strategy and go with Shug (#6).

3 and 4 are likely the early speeds , if one or the other doesn't break I guess one of them could get loose but 6 also has some speed...don't really think anyone is getting loose in here, #1 figures , class drop for good connections, last was sloppy track throw out race, is a 3 time Spa winner but at 12-1 ml I prefer #7 on top, drops in class and last out was in sprint and he would rather go two turns.
 
R8 #2 and #4 are the logical contenders that belong in this class, but I wouldn't sleep on the #7 getting loose on the lead and wiring them.
 
R9 as impressive as #1 was in the Met Mile he's still a question mark around 2 turns, especially if there's no hot pace to run into. Tonalist is the most consistent, I think you bet against him at your own risk.

Yup, I love Chad here..years ago before only me , you, and Philly Seamus knew of him, I had that stat about he's dangerous with 2YO 1sters in turf routes only at Spa meet..obv he's dealing with better stock and owners these days so he is winning at other tracks as well with these ...found it dated 7/22/13 my boy was 7/27 (26%) 2YO firster turf route Spa but 2/19 all other tracks 5 yr span...I have to talk to you bout workouts next time I see ya..remind me..but times aren't important, more about spacing of works, good Klaravich stable turf runners in Chad barn, 4 of 5 siblings won, kittens joy , Javy sign me up....3 could be live bomb, Rice family stretching out of synthetic track sprint effort where looks like wants more distance. ..#6 Pletcher not great with 2YO firsters in turf routes.

My boy could win this one and as a fan rooting for him as he cut it from 10 to 7 in standings, #9 is my top pick and I'm against #6 at 3-1 ML, Casse on dirt at Spa isn't a winning combination, dug into records at Spa as far as 2010 and can't find Casse Spa dirt winner, 1st race on first Sat of meet he had 1ster dirt sprint at 2/5 odds and was non factor

R5: I like #7 6-1 ml, only turf race was 3rd to Takeover Target on yielding course, now 2nd time lasix and off long layoff which is a great McLaughlin move

Agree with both assessments, enough early speed in here should set it up nice for one coming off the pace. Also like #6, a little bit, wide open race though.
