Now we just need the Indy guy to comment
There are limits of decency. At some point crossing becomes harassmentEhhhh. Let him cook![]()
Talk about inferiority complexes.....He gonezo
You mean “lived it”Nah, don't pretend you wouldn't be pissed if someone was quoting you about Saban leaving you in a year and a half thread.
He reminds me so much of Shawn Hunter‘s dad on Boy Meets WorldIf Ed Orgeron can win a Natty so can your program.
I wish I wrote that![]()
No, I will not keep bumping it.Same as it has been. Nobody is happy, but still full confidence in De Boer. I don't think our AD cares very much what the fans think at this point. You going to keep bumping this thread every time we lose?
Majent, don't care if you bump the thread. But please stop quoting people. It's a year and a half thread.![]()
Point duly noted and very fair about quoting anyone, but we are just 14 games into the post-Saban era at 'Bama so the length of time may be 1.5 years but the subject is extremely relevant.
See you in AA next Sat night, My Friend.
Hoping for an instant classic.![]()
No, I will not keep bumping it.
We can measure the season, when it is complete, but this ain't the Saban coached Bama D which was nasty most years.
And I do thank you for answering my question because I know you are dialed in to the program and extremely knowledgeable.
2 more losses, and major heat will be on Kalen and all who were involved in his hire.
Then they can buy him out and we will take him in Norman.
Then who goes to Bama?
The heat is already on. He knows what he signed up for. But I think Byrne knows that some of these bigger picture issues started under Saban, and he was able to pull them across the finish line through sheer will power, but he ultimately decided he didn't want to keep doing it. A 4+ loss season will definitely require DeBoer to shake up the staff and have a scorching hot seat in 2026. But there's a lot of time left in this season and I honestly have no idea how it's going to play out. Guys are saying the right things, we'll see if they mean itNo, I will not keep bumping it.

I'm still broken from Ray Giacoletti replacing Rick Majerus. Yeah, him.
The good news, Alex Jensen returns this year and there's been a 180 in culture. I fully expect Utah hoops to surprise a lot of people this year...... yeah, wrong forum.
I feel your pain gps_3.
How have I never seen this??Any time majerus is mentioned
A classic, no doubtHow have I never seen this??

What are the bigger picture issues at the end of the Saban era? Just curious, not sure if you already mentioned in the thread previouslyThe heat is already on. He knows what he signed up for. During the 2022 season, it was mentioned several times that some of our players, even the great ones like Will Anderson, were suffering from anxiety during games. We were heavily penalized in Saban's last few seasons, especially the late hit/unsportsmanlike variety, and some major mis-evaluations in the classes post-Covid, particularly at DL, OL and WR. But Saban was the best, and he figured out how to make it work as well as possible. Don't get me wrong, DeBoer walked into a pretty great situation in a lot of respects, but it wasn't quite the fine tuned machine that it was made out to be, even by our own people. It doesn't excuse what we saw on Saturday by any stretch, but it's not at all surprising that the "rebuild" may take more than a season or twoWhat are the bigger picture issues at the end of the Saban era? Just curious, not sure if you already mentioned in the thread previously
Perhaps prep for games an issue?I really can’t predict what’s going to happen now. We are clearly capable of losing to pretty much anyone in the schedule. We’re more talented on paper than every team on our schedule, including UGA, but we look more like paper tigers at this point
That's from an internet troll. It's not truePerhaps prep for games an issue?
He and Grubb both keep referencing they need to play looser and faster. I think there may be some mental weight with the program of being the team that ends the dynasty and being so worried about messing up that they play scared. Not sure how they can fix that other than to just stop caring as much, which is toughThe one thing that struck me from DeBoer's post-game presser was that he made reference to "....we need to just start playing our style of football.''
Has he defined what that style is?

I've said it.No one is going to say it? Everybody can buy players now.
That didn’t matter towards the end in the SEC.No one is going to say it? Everybody can buy players now.
Maybe, but in the NIL era, Alabama finished 1st, 2nd, 1st, and 2nd in recruiting. Sure some of the depth took a hit with the portal, but talent isn't and hasn't been the issue the last 5 years. No one is going to say it? Everybody can buy players now.
He's not going anywhere just yet. I don't think the buyout is that big an obstacle if a change is necessary, but Byrne is smart enough to know if you fire someone less than 2 years in, your candidate gets a lot smaller and a lot more expensive. Alabama fans and that dbag booster that talked to a reporter are trying to compare DeBoer to Saban and not to the rest of the country's coaches. Day, Dabo, Sark, Lanning, Kelly, even Kirby had their own issues as young head coaches. De Boer is too good to not be given a fair shake.I really like Bama and really like DeBoer but his frozen response on Wednesday to the On3 report was scary.
The idea that he is going anywhere seems laughable, with Bama or anyone else. It's a borderline 9-figure issue (buyout, assistants, new hire) that no one will undertake, especially in today's world of CFB investing.
Like Lance Taylor, I'm going to die on the hill with DeBoer as I think he's a great coach. Maybe just not meant for this particular area code but I'm still going to ride it out.
Maybe. Hard to say after what happened last week. Regardless of the score, I think the fans just want to see everyone on the team giving max effort. I think some of the "loafing" from last week was a little overblown and it's near impossible to tell everything from the sideline camera view, but the team needs to get on the field and have something good happen. We won't be the last team to lay an egg this seasonPoor LA-Monroe is going to get absolutely eviscerated by you guys this Saturday........
AJ McCarron said it best the other day. Bama has at most a $20 million NIL budget which neutralizes them with the competition. DeBoer's buyout is 3x that amount. It's not him, I think they brought him in to manage one of the biggest transitions (not just coach to coach) in any sport in our lifetimes. There is so much going on in NCAA sports that the Saban era simply can't exist now.I really like Bama and really like DeBoer but his frozen response on Wednesday to the On3 report was scary.

I've known AJ for a long time. He was in the same class as my sister (same HS I went to). He is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished QBs to play at Alabama. That said, he is not well liked by his teammates, and even less by later players at Alabama. Some of the things he says are true. Our budget is around the $20MM mark, which puts us in the top 8-10 in the country, but fairly far behind the Ohio Sts, Texas schools and Notre Dame. De Boer was brought in to take into the next era full stop. He is not here to be a middleman or whatever. He still has the full faith and support of the administration and the boosters, outside of the one guy (who I know personally) who thought it would be a good idea to talk to Chris Low. I really didn't care who said it, the point being that everyone who thinks Bama is so loaded with NIL doesn't really understand it. They are not elite when it comes to the money.I've known AJ for a long time. He was in the same class as my sister (same HS I went to). We've never been elite with the money. Even when it was under the table. Revenue sharing was a great thing for us, because it allows us to be competitive in a free market in a way that we wouldn't have been with the way it's been the last few years. We are and will be top 10 when it comes to money, but we won't come close to those top 5 teams. But again, the same programs that are tops in spending now have been tops in spending for decades, so its not like it's all that differentI really didn't care who said it, the point being that everyone who thinks Bama is so loaded with NIL doesn't really understand it. This is an underrepresented fact. The LDS apparatus is very involved in buying players outside the church in a way they've been hesitant in the past. Especially in basketballWhat's crazy is that the Mormons are better at this game than anyone. They don't blow their money on booze and gambling.

The opponents haven't been great, but the attitude of the team is night and day different from week 1. Hopefully they can sustain it. I think the team/program is finally all the way bought into DeBoer. The fans will take a while longer
