Regionals

Bandits

Pretty much a regular
My favorite time of the baseball season begins tomorrow. I'm glad it keeps getting more and more coverage each year. Here's some of my notes and plays. I'll try to post throughout the weekend, but I get to busy with my son's tourneys on Saturday/Sunday

Vandy region:
Wright St is 0-6 vs Sec this year with closest game being 5 runs. They played NC State as well and had a couple close, but states offense is not as good. Vandy arms are very solid. Vandy -3.5 -125
Louisville/Etsu both are offense minded and can put up crooked numbers at will. Etsu played a tough out of conference schedule, even beating Tenn 7-6 so they shouldn't be timid. Louisville/Etsu o14 -115

Auburn Region
Stetson upset Bama last year in G1 of regional. They have a stud number 1 in Jonathan Gonzalez and a strong bullpen. NC State also has a couple very talented starters that will give teams fits, but bullpen isn't as strong. Stetson +222 and under 10 -115

Austin regional
Texas played Houston Christian earlier in the year and 10run them in a weekday game. Not going to over think it. Texas -5.5 -120
K state did win a regional last year but starter for G1 has allowed 16 runs in his last 4 outings totaling 11.2 innings. Utsa is an offensive minded team averaging 8.8 runs/game and they also don't strike out much. Utsa starter for G1 has allowed 13 runs his last 2 outings totaling 9.2 innings. K state/utsa o12.5 -115 leaning utsa -130 as well

Stetson has a top 20 pitching staff in the country and Gonzalez (senior) pitches today with a 9-2 record and 2.26 era. NC State offense is ranked 90th in batting average in the country. NC State has lost 7 out of their last 10 and lost their only ACC tournament game.

Hattiesburg Regional
Alabama/Miami should be a good one. Riley Quick is scheduled starter for Bama. Is a projected 1st rounder with FB/SL. They've only lost 2 of his 13 starts (LSU and Tenn). He doesn't go very deep, but they have a solid pen. Miami has lost 6 of last 7. Their starter is AJ Ciscar a freshman. Funky arm slot who gets a lot of ground balls. Their bullpen doesn't have an arm with an era under 4.5. Alabama -150 and bama/Miami u10
Southern Miss won 18 of 19 to finish the year and has played really well on both sides the last month. Pitching staff has a 2.3 era in May. Columbia went to Oregon and Georgia early in the year and were outscored 70-15 and 39-18. Really the only 2 series outside of Northeast. Their listed projected starters all have era in the upper 5s and 6s and as a team they allow 7.2 runs/game. Southern Miss scores 7.2/game. Southern Miss -4.5

First play I made. I like Stetson

Oxford regional
This should be a tough region. All the teams have a strong core of starters and 2 or 3 solid pen pieces. And all 4 teams avg over 7.5 runs/game offensively.
Murray State lost to ole Miss in extras early in year, and beat Kentucky. They are only 4-21 all time vs ole Miss though. They are projected to start Nic Schutte who is 7-1 last 8, but has given up 15 runs in his last 4 starts. Ole Miss is saving Hunter Elliott for g2 and starting Riley Maddox a 2 year starter who will give up some runs, but they will have no problem going to the pen. Ole Miss -2.5 -120
WKU has a team era of 3.35 (3rd best in nation). They lost by 1 to Murray State and vandy early in year and beat Kentucky in another close game. They love to run with over 120sb on year. Ga tech has an offense that is very dangerous, but can be quieted with 4 freshman in the lineup. As a staff they are only allowing 8 hits/game-their best since 94. Their coach is retiring which adds to a motivation factor as well. I think this will be a great game to watch WKU/GT u12.5 -115

Are we just gonna bang every game today? Outside of Thur/Fri of March Madness this is my favorite NCAA day of the calendar year. Tomorrow is a bit of a crack after the aces go today...as in it's much less predictable and can be destructive as a gambler

I wish I could. These games used to be split up into 2 days. Not sure I like all 32 in one day, but I definitely love this weekend. Tons of good games in store

I dunno why but I never been able to get into ncaa baseball, you would think I would seeing how I love bases. The sound of the aluminum bats isn’t agreeable w me, lol.

Also love this time of year because my alma mater (Central Missouri) is usually involved in DII WS and we're the 2 seed this year

Gets the juices flowing for lots of reasons

You're nitpicking

32 games today and in double elimination, shit actually happens when you have an ace

Not nitpicking I do really hate the sound off the bats compared to wood. I suppose that could sound a tad silly cause it took me forever to get Theresa to watch basketball with me cause she didn’t like the squeaking sound of the shoes which always made me laugh

Went to a bunch of CMS games in college because we've always been elite

Only d1 stuff I've done is here of course so ASU holds that spot for me....when you see the retired numbers on the outfield fence. Reggie, Bonds, Horner, etc

Man the history here is pretty cool. On ESPNU tonight against an LA team of course

Love the squeaky shoes story. I get the sound of the bats, nothing like the crack of wood. The hustle/intensity makes it fun for me. And the fact that any team can truly win-throw a slow, crafty lefty and shut down a powerhouse offense and their high power arm gets rocked (like ECU/Florida currently)

Would love any West Coast input mate, have a feeling I'll be more involved on those later games as the day goes

Day 1: 6-7 (-25)
4 #1 seeds go down! Couple regionals are lining up to be wild. Don't have too much time to post .
TCU/Oregon St u11.5 -125
Bama/sth miss u10.5 -125
Wright St/ETSU o13.5 -130
Central Connecticut+4.5 +105
