I wanted to go down memory lane a bit but ran short on time...
Just think this is "an ode to 1995" coming up over the next handful of days ...
So...
Knicks and Pacers was a great rivalry back in the 90s...
As you all know.
1993 was a first round series and that was the infamous Starks head butt series. The Knicks won easily 3-1 in that series.
1994 was the ECF's and we saw the Game 5 Reggie 4th and then a classic G7 that ended on a Ewing put back.
1995 was the year the Pacers finally got over the top. If you remember, Reggie scored the 8 points in 9 seconds late in Game One to start the series...
Anyways, in my reference earlier, the Pacers won both games in Indiana to go up 3-1 in the series. The Knicks came back to MSG and won 96-95 to stay alive.
New York went back to Indiana needing just one road win to bring the series back home to the Garden and repeat what they accomplished in 1994.
A relatively easy win set up a G7 winner take all and the right to meet the Orlando Magic in the ECF.
Pacers controlled a lot of the 2h until the Knicks made a late rally. Ewing missed the finger roll at the buzzer and Indiana advanced.
Anyways, every since G4 ended I've felt this series could have a similar outcome.
Just a hunch we're watching G7 and MSG on Monday night!
