Texas is already so loaded with quality depth that a calm Brown casually confirmed that Ramonce Taylor had left the team. That would be team-shattering, fan-fainting major news at most schools. Taylor led Texas in all-purpose yardage as the Longhorns capped a perfect 2005 season.
"Ramonce has decided to transfer," said Brown, apparently stifling a yawn as he acknowledged Taylor was invited to hit the bricks after he was charged with possession of four pounds of marijuana and ran into academic problems.
Sure, Taylor scored 15 touchdowns and had a combined 778 yards rushing and receiving last season. But remember Brown's talent-rich recruiting pipeline? He'll just tap into it and rely more on sophomore Jamaal Charles, a Heisman Trophy candidate, senior Selvin Young and blue-chip freshman Vondrell McGee.
jimmyd: Wonder how he afforded that? Or was he dealing? Questions will be asked.
