Definitely for sure up there as one of the best just not quite sure they are the best.....frankly hunts reasoning is why they may be...they find a way to win AND that is a real thing...who the hell am I to say they aren't best Michigan team since 97 ...you guys are more qualified...I am pretty sure they are not the most talented. But also have the best coaches. The swing passes off motion are very good. Look easy to stop but keep coming through in crunch time
Oh, most definitely not the most talented team.
The thing is, after 2020 Jim finally became a full CEO and brought in his best staff overall. He also brought back a few Michigan guys that could help.
The Michigan running game exploded again because of two things...
1. Sherrone Moore and the OL
2. Mike Hart coaching the RBs
The defense has relied on some Ravens (Minter and McDonald) who are/were hungry to build a resume for the NFL.
There is more.
Elston came back from ND.
Jay Harbaugh has turned into one of the better all around assistants and recruiters in the country.
But, what they do most?? They COACH these guys up. Period.
Mich doesn't do pay for play. Yes, in the last few years they developed a nice system for current players and portal additions to make money(although that is going away this off-season).
The coaching up and terrific portal recruiting has helped the talent deficit.
Sure JJ, Corum and Don were highly rated. Loveland was a secret that Saban found late but stuck.
But, that's the beauty of this team.
They are, a TEAM.
Hey, crazy talent was abound in 2007 and look where that got them? A bunch of hungover players and some high during an appy at game.
Culture is huge.
