BAR and Hunt Discussion of The Rose Bowl Game...

@B.A.R. and @HUNT Congrats on the win fellas. It was well earned. A lot sloppier on both sides than I envisioned, but an entertaining game nonetheless. Really could have gone either way, but I knew we were cooked when it went to OT. Enjoy the win, and please take it easy on me in the coming months
Classy.

I said 4th quarter game but it got there differently than I expected.

Great adjustments late 1h and 2nd with run game and overall blocking.

This was an old school game. Field position etc.

There's a reason Michigan made this jump the last 3 years Jim got his QB. He made winning plays late (Corum and Wilson too).

What I'm most mad about is that I capped the game perfectly, and then lost 5 bets because it went to OT lol
Only over I ended up with was live 38.5.

I knew 2h would have more points, but it shouldn't have.

No wrong bets here and everyone deserved to win but calling me an emotional bettor like @EL CAPO I gotta say

Congrats on win...not sure why you took it as an insult when ur reason for picking the game was based on nothing but because it's Michigans year and they win close ones

Truthfully it actually is a solid cap the way the game went. Congrats

Every category had Michigan better than bama. Did you want me to repeat things said ad nauseum everywhere else. I know my team. Thanks though.

No trolling or insulting took place....don't take it there and you are ....first I never said u are an emotional bettor...I made a statement in regards to a thread that I thought your reasoning sounded so....

Again not sure why it upset......I stand by my earlier comments I didn't think this was best Michigan team since 97....not a troll job...a forum discussion post the board is meant to spark ....on hindsight I may give this team a bump due to coaching which is much improved over previous years....tons of ravens implementations on both sides of ball

I don't think this bama team is great so I'm not shocked. Congrats on the win please take the attitude elsewhere

With the way this particular 5 on the o-line played today...

And it was their best game ...

I do think this is the best of these 3 teams @EL CAPO

Helluva job by Sherrone getting them going this last month and adjusting to Zak Zinter injury.

And, with the Rich Rod "lull" of the program...

I do think this is one of the very top squads since 1997.

2006 and 2016 are close.

Definitely for sure up there as one of the best just not quite sure they are the best.....frankly hunts reasoning is why they may be...they find a way to win AND that is a real thing...who the hell am I to say they aren't best Michigan team since 97 ...you guys are more qualified...I am pretty sure they are not the most talented. But also have the best coaches. The swing passes off motion are very good. Look easy to stop but keep coming through in crunch time

Nah. You said it sounds be like an emotional bet. I took that personally. You were concerned with the oline. I wasn't. I follow this team every day from Michigan boards and knew Trente Jones was killing it in practice along with barnhart moving inside. I didn't mention that in the first post because I knew it came down to making big plays and being in the right place at the right time. That's been this squad all year.

I didn't compare Iowa and OSU games to a cfp game with a month of prep. Especially with all the extra curricular activities going outside schembechler hall.

We're different cappers and I respect you but I just really wanted this one after that comment.

It's water under the bridge now, like I said I respect you and look forward to your thoughts for next week. Gl.

Oh, most definitely not the most talented team.

The thing is, after 2020 Jim finally became a full CEO and brought in his best staff overall. He also brought back a few Michigan guys that could help.

The Michigan running game exploded again because of two things...

1. Sherrone Moore and the OL
2. Mike Hart coaching the RBs

The defense has relied on some Ravens (Minter and McDonald) who are/were hungry to build a resume for the NFL.

There is more.

Elston came back from ND.

Jay Harbaugh has turned into one of the better all around assistants and recruiters in the country.

But, what they do most?? They COACH these guys up. Period.

Mich doesn't do pay for play. Yes, in the last few years they developed a nice system for current players and portal additions to make money(although that is going away this off-season).

The coaching up and terrific portal recruiting has helped the talent deficit.

Sure JJ, Corum and Don were highly rated. Loveland was a secret that Saban found late but stuck.

But, that's the beauty of this team.

They are, a TEAM.

Hey, crazy talent was abound in 2007 and look where that got them? A bunch of hungover players and some high during an appy at game.

Culture is huge.

I guess I meant Saban’s experience and success in these situations . But yes. Lately Michigan has been there more. I was putting too much trust in St Nick. His play calling was odd today.
He made excellent adjustments late 1h and into the 3rd to get running game going.

Figured as much.

Yeah, some plays late were different.

100 percent..mostly 3 stars vs 5 stars out there compared to bama.I think a lot of these motions shifts and flares to backs might of come from the ravens too as you see that alot with them ....you could see in sherrones eyes in crunch time he knew he had to dial stuff up and he did....

All said tho.....I think the schedules are completely different and 2006 usc prbly beats this bama team in most down year all around or cfb I can remember...but that's all debatable. What is not is this Michigan team imo is the most well coached team in college football

All really good points. Michigan motion was throwing them off all game. I felt that Saban out coached harbaugh in the second half he made great adjustments but this team just is insane at crunch time which is something very difficult to cap.

Very few outsiders will ever admit this Michigan team is well coached.

People's hard on for Jim limits this.

The guy left his house in 4th of OSU game to go see his OL in the hospital.

Not too many care as much.

Alright, on to Washington!!

Im an outsider. I dont like Jim but hes a good coach. I get nervous bc for 5 years its all about the bears hiring him lol

After getting completely outclassed coaching in the first 1.5 quarters, the Alabama coaches did a nice job the rest of the game. I don't think the play calls were bad, but we had some execution issues, particularly with our center who still can't consistently snap the ball, which was an issue all year. And then Michigan came back with a really nice drive to tie it. In a game of inches, one of Michigan's big pass plays, Lawson got a finger on, but not enough to prevent the catch. Just such thin margins in this game and Michigan performed better when it counted most. Which is what you'd expect with a team this well coached and experienced

Great win fellas. You all cost me a huge night! Washington keeps coming though for me at least. Any thoughts on that one?

Yeah, your center was all over the place with his snaps. I thought Bama oline minus the snaps really turned it around as the game went on. It wasn't looking good for Milroe early but they corrected that at about the 5 minute mark of the first half like you said...not sure if he was sacked again after that.

I agree with you, game of inches.

I think Washington is a tough matchup. Their tempo is fast and deep ball game is incredible. Defense isn't the best but they make enough stops when needed. Michigan should be able to run at will. It will be about who controls the tempo and possessions. If Washington controls tempo it could be like TCU vs Michigan last year, but if Michigan controls it with the short pass and run game it could get ugly in their favor...all about tempo imo.

I also think Michigan defense is the best they've ever had..I guess we will find out Monday for 1 more game.

People that rag on JJ don't know Michigan schemes or Michigan football in general. Dude is a gamer and legit. He should put up some good numbers.

I can guarantee that the Washington QB won't be that good again (for the rest of his life). Amazing performance.

He was absolutely incredible. Definitely difficult to top that one....if he does, crown em.
He’s been fantastic all season but that was his best performance for sure. And to your earlier point I do see similarities to last years game against TCU. I’m on Washington but that kinda worries me. Michigan will be better prepared this time around.

Played Washington a bunch this year myself, great squad. They have some secondary issues and Johnson definitely won't be anywhere close to 100% at RB imo.

I completely get it. I was supremely confident in Michigan vs Bama, not as much for the title game...that's just me. Definitely not a 20 unit play that's for sure.

Michigan is on a Michion (see what I did there), am hoping they make P scramble and throw ducks like he did in the az st game.

Saw today that of Alabama's 66 offensive plays, 32 of them began with a snap that was off target. In completely unrelated news, our center is in the transfer portal
