Already bet:

Berger 50-1
Ancer 66-1

This course, as others have said, is going to be about accuracy. You cannot play out of that rough. These are two guys playing great who are top 40 in driving accuracy. That’s what I’m lookin for this week. I got this number on Berger during his round yesterday btw. He’s down to 33-1 at some sites. He was at 80-1 on some sites before yesterday. Will be looking at other straight hitters for full tourney.

Added:

Fleetwood 52-1
Hatton 72-1
English 145-1

From dr. Tim’s post above, this book doesn’t like DJ.

and REVIE +120 v Ho looks tempting. as does tha matchup with Stenson + V. Casey

Berger
English
Xander
Ancer
Fleetwood

for now.

Like JT and Brooks obviously.

Most of my money will be on Xander. Ancer is crazy underrated by the book and just happened to have an awful Friday this past week.

Gotta be able to hit it long and accurate here. Gonna have Xander is everything I play. Ancer is my longshot. English is just really solid and doesn' t get a ton of love, this is the type of course he should do well on. Berger is playing out of his mind.

Xander is 7th in strokes gained off the tee. Long and pretty accurate. If his putter is decent, he will be in contention on Sunday; other part of his game are money.

Obv respect Brooks but his driver is too erratic. Not sure this is the course for BRyson ball.

JT is the best, he's obviously gotta be respected..His driver is a little erratic for this course

Rahm scares me a bit after last week so not playing but could see him win. Really good off the tee. Iron play needs to improve

WOuld love to see Fowler win but seems like he had everything go right last week and still faded.

Fading Hatton..too bad off the tee

Like Cantly has the game to be a winner.

Want no part of Reed or Mickelson

Rory is obviously a stud, not really playing or fading

COuld def see Webb sinning; he's very accurate off the tee; great approach shots

I will be rooting for you sir! Maybe I’ll put some on Xander. Had him everywhere last week and it was kind of an eh

Tee times will be interesting...

Think of a guy like Tiger... he needs a Thurs AM/Fri PM start ...read an interesting take on that earlier today

More thoughts tomorrow...just made several bets...

From all I've heard, this course will benefit the longer drivers of the ball pretty heavily, especially if they can keep it play. I know he has injury concerns, but I kind of like Jason Day this week. He's been in the top 10 the last 3 weeks, is a great driver of the golf ball, and if he can putt like he normally does, I think he will contend. Of course, there's always the inherent risk of him having something happen to him.

I also like Fleetwood and Xander, surely they both have to break through eventually, right?

Par Four Scoring Rank = 5th
Total Driving Rank = 10th
Ball Striking Rank = 1st

Any guesses who that is?

Day is interesting. Have the risk of injury at any time. But, Day's Driver hasn't been great this year..outside of the top 50 in strokes gained off tee, 150th in driving accuracy, 80th in length. PUtting hasn't been great (64th in SG). But, his work around the green has been incredible.

Cantlay-

12th in Par 4 scoring averge
34th in SG off tee (average over 300 yards with 63% accuracy)
4th in SG approach shots
59th in SG around the green
57th in SG putting
7th in SG tee to green
7th in SG overall

Last year his numbers were similar as well (2nd overall in shots gained per round) He does not have a weakness. ANd he's coming in off a 65/67 weekend. He will have plenty of my money.

Yes, I think whatever has been wrong with him for the last year and a half (not just physically, but mentally) is finally behind him. He's officially moved on from his mentor/caddie, maybe he's found new motivation

Cantlay is definitely in it this week.

Very possible. He's a wildcard for me. I may throw him in a couple DK lineups

I do think he's a good contrarian pick, although with his pedigree and recent form, I can't be the only one thinking that

Brooks, Lowry and Woodland are grouped together as the Major champs from last year sans Tiger.

Rahm, Phil and Sergio.

Tournament match ups:

Hubbard +120 vs Cauley- becoming a fan of Hubbard and Cauley just hasn’t progressed like I thought he would have...

Finau-115 vs Day- both guys playing well of late but I am fading high ball hitting Day in the forecasted 15-20 mph winds. Plus the temp and humidity change will not be doing favors for his back issues

Redman +120 vs Varner III- playing the angle of the accuracy off the tee angle here at plus money...

Luiten +105 vs Snedeker- strictly a fade on Sneds and this was the matchup given at my book

I am sure I’ll be adding more as we get closer to Thursday... I’m really looking forward to the return of Major golf! Best of luck guys... really enjoying the conversations in the thread

I’m hoping DK will add more matchups as we get closer like they did for the Memorial as I’m not loving any of the current offerings - also at the casino on the beach this week so hoping they’ll offer some round by rounds

Rory, JT and Cheetah go at 8:33 am Pacific on Thursday.

This is best case scenario for Tiger...gives him the early start/late start which has to be better for his back.

Tiger says rough is up and fairways smaller than back in '09 Presidents Cup

See, I like HV III. The reason is he's 21st on the tour in strokes gained off the tee. Redman is 34th as a comparison. Both are really good on approaches. But HVIII can't putt and Reman can't chip. (Redman not a great putter either). But Redman does catch fairways, which could be the difference. But, my concern with him would be when he misses greens.

Berger-

44th in strokes gained off the tee (299 yards, 65% accuracy)
24th in SG approach to green
43rd in SG around green
14th in SG putting
13th in SG tee to green
5th in SG overall

Another well rounded player at good odds. Since the return, he's gone 1, 3, cut, 2

He's missed 5 cuts in all majors played. ONly 1 top 10 (US Open, 2018)

Will be on him to some degree

Also have to love him even more coming off that R4 on Sunday

Harris English:

26th in SG off tee (300 yards,63% accuracy)
31st in SG approach to green
60th in SG around the green
21st in SG putting
16 in SG tee to green
10 in SG overall

Since restart: Cut, 17, 13, 18

Hasn't missed cut in major since 2014. Never really in contention. I think he's a better player than the odds say. I have him in DK and another golf league. I will put some on top 20; sprinkle a little on winning. Way better than odds say

Yeah I played him at +10,000 just due to value.

Ancer-

29th in SG off tee (298, 65%)
26th in SG approach
97th in SG around the green
42n in SG putting
20th in SG tee to green
13th in SG overall

ANother one where game doesn't meet odds. 14, 2, 11, 58, 15 since restart. 1 bad round this past weekend. Very solid player; feel comfortable with him making the cut. Another top 20 with a tad bit on winning and playing in DK. T-16 at PGA last year; he's due for a big win.

Hovland-

12th in SG off tee (299, 65%)
6th in SG approach
192 in SG around the green
149 in SG putting
11th in SG tee to green
24th in SG overall

23, 21, 11, 12, 3, 48, 59 since restart. I rode him hard but is he getting tired? Love his game until he gets to the green. Is a candidate to win if he can put at all. Chipping is so bad, he duffed a couple this past weekend. WIll play to some degree but not committed yet.

I've been waiting for him to get truly tired.

I played him as well.

FADE:

Hatton-
100 in SG off the tee (299, 64%)
11th in SG approach
35th in sg around the green
8th in SG putting
14th in SG tee to green
3rd in SG overall

Very good player, outsanding year but I can back someone that is so bad off the tee here.
