Oklahoma State @ Texas Tech

RJ- texas did not beat tech in the 2nd half!!! the refs beat tech. 2 huge calls kept the game closer than it should have been. i have re-watched the 2nd half. the punt return!! 2 block in the backs that were not called gave Texas momentum. the 2nd huge call was with 6 minutes left....a bs 15 yd penalty on crabtree on 1st and goal from the 8......tech kicked a fg instead of a td.....big 12 did not want tech to win because they want a team in the national championship....texas winning guaranteed that....get your guns up......tech will beat okie st.....the test will be ou

First off, no way in hell I'm watching that game again so you're a better man than I.

Second, I'm pretty certain that OU beats Tech and I'd put the odds at pretty much a coinflip that OSU beats Tech. Question: Who wins Bedlam? I always have to say OU in this game, no matter where it's played.

At least we can all agree on one thing, it is going to be another exciting game.

Hopefully.

I'd really rather the Big XII get all four teams into the BCS somehow. I think they all kick major ass in the bowls (well, maybe not Tech in the 1H and OU might find another way to lose to a team they should beat, ;) ).

i think we are not putting enough credence into the fact that quan cosby was out. While i agree with horses that mccoy is far superior to robinson the fact remians that tech has to cover dez bryant in this one.

far superior? I disagree

McCoy: 218/276 - 79% - 2579yds - 9.3 ya - 23td - 5int...93rush-428yd-7td

Robinson: 129/187 - 69% - 2085yds - 11.1ya - 20td - 5int...92rush-340yd-5td

McCoy may be better but "far superior" is a strong word. Ok St actually has a rushing game to compliment their offense so Robinson doesn't have nearly the amount of attempts in the passing game. When you complete 80% of your passes, its amazing but 70% is pretty damn good too.

I don't know who it was, but the game was decided by the UT player that dropped a sure INT from Harrell. He lost the game for UT....

That was Blake Gideon. True freshman safety.

We thought we had it won. But I'm not going to get down on Blake. Sure that would have won it for us, but that's not the reason we lost.

I'm glad our fans aren't pillorying the kid like tOSU fans did to that TE who dropped the TD in the 2005 game against us. That kid got murdered.

Tech Alumni here and i'll be in Lubbock this weekend...

My play on this game is over.

I think that TTU's offense was not clicking as it has been since halftime of the A&M game, I give credit to UTs Red Zone Defense/halfime adjustments, which is why i love to play UT 2H plays. I've noticed in the last few years that Leach is not as likely to make many adjustments, being confident in his system.

Back to the Over. Texas recievers (who must have sprayed ball-repellant on their hands before the game) dropped several passes that killed drives. Several of them were deep balls with nothing between them and the endzone but white lines. With the deep threat of Dez Bryant, I think OSU moves the ball down the field on TTU easily on most drives. I think that Leach/TTU will make adjustments throughout the week working on Red Zone play (Offense and Defense). I think crabtree goes off, remember the dropped pass in the endzone at boone pickens stadium last year? HE DOES!!!!!!!

I see a game with both teams going well into the 40s (confident at least one). IMO this will be the shootout that some people thought last week would be.

Also I will be half2half betting TTU. I always talk about this system in tech threads and I hope people have noticed. I play TTU 1H, if i win great. If not double up in the second half. I've only lost in about 5 games during the last few years...I dont know the exact number b/c i don't know how to look as past 1H/2H lines. If anyone knows where i can find these lines for the last few years please let me know.

BOL to everyones plays, and of course Tech.

Oh and more importantly the safeties dropped two on the final two TT drives. I wonder what drills they run in practice this week.

It must be great to be going to school in Lubbock right now. Two back to back killer home games.

Haven't posted in awhile, but another thing to keep in mind is that Houston put up close to 500 yards of offense on Okie St earlier in the year. I know that their d has played tons better since then, but Houston pretty much runs the same type of offense as Tech (their OC is Holgerson, a Tech recievers coach for many years under Leach) but with considerably less talent. Tech really hates Okie St. and hopefully has revenge on their mind from last year, but this is a very tough spot. I see almost all of the emotion carrying over from last week, especially from the fans, and Tech pulling out a high scoring win. My biggest concern is with the Sooners.

and Nevada put up 488 on you and 28 first downs to your 20 and 421.

Good point, ETG. The Nevada and Nebraska games were such that our team typically loses. Let's get past this UT game discussion. It could've gone either way. Close games only help our conference and BCS standings. It's not like UT is done for the year. This thread is already at 5 pages and it's only Monday.

Nice point E.T.G........that is why my only play on this game will be on the over. Unless it dips below a fg, but I doubt that

I'm not sure either because he didn't suspend the CB that caught with weed in his car the week of the Ohio State game in 06...strange to do it now.

Texas had what two offensive TD's the second half? One was a 91 yd bomb and the other was the last drive...it's not like it was complete domination like the first half was...Tech still had over 200 yds in second half, like 60 less than Texas...

Just to clarify, Tarell Brown was suspended for the '06 Ohio St. game as was Tyrell Gatewood.

something i just noticed, and i was impressed, Texas Tech has scored a touchdown in every quarter of big 12 play...and they have done so in all the nonconference games, except for the 4Q of the UMass game with the 2nd team played. That is amazing.

Something interesting to chew on today...

Only once since 1965 has a team been able to beat a No. 1 team one week and defeat another top 10 foe the next week. Oklahoma stunned Nebraska and then beat No. 3 Oklahoma State the next week in 1984.

This is the first time in Musburger's career that he will be calling consecutive weeks from the same venue.

Tech -3 and this won't be close.

Ahem.

Texas beats #1 OU and then beats #5 Mizzou and then beats #5 OSU.

That was only 2 weeks ago. How quickly they forget.

ah shit. good catch RJ

it looks like sportsbook.com is giving away free money. check out the Baron Batch prop bet O/U 51.5 rushing yards. that same prop cashed for me against KSU and this shouldn't be any different. take the over 51.5 rushing yards for Baron Batch.

Gonna be the Cowboys today folks..............They held Texas to 28 and Mizzou to 17, they can contain Tech tonight.

Human nature, it is nearly impossible to get "up" that high 2 weeks in a row. No way they can come out and dominate up front on both sides of the ball.

This is the true showdown of the 2 best WR in the game w/ Bryant and Crab.

I think Cowboys take this one.....34-30.

GL all!

If you believe OState covers the 3.5, it seems like the ML bet would be the better value. This game won't be decided by 3 points.

I don't understand this whole "let down" factor.

Tech is #2 in the country. We are talking about a talented Big 12 team of athletes. This isn't a Big East weekday match up between South Florida and Rutgers.

With an 2:30 PM LSU victory, Tech will be playing for the #1 spot in the nation. Crowd, difference in talent and execution of offense will make this game. I'm taking Tech for my biggest wager of my life. I'll be cheering for the Bayou Bengals & Iowa to win. Thanks to everyone for dissecting this game.

As always, GL to everyone.

GL to your boys Ynnhoj.....for your sake I hope you win SU.

Letdown isn't a "physical" thing that top notch athletes are immune to, it is mental.....if Okie St rolls down and scores their 1st drive, you dont think the crowd and TT D will be feeling/thinking differntly than last week when they totally dominated?

Any questions?

Maybe now all of the "Oklahoma State is the 2nd best team in the Big 12" can be put to rest.

:tiphat:

yup.

Amazing effort from a team off of a "storm the field three times game" . The offense was amazing. Not sure when defensive coordinators are going to realize that you have to blitz more. Harrell will pick you apart otherwise. And if you give up the big play it hurts a lot less than the 5-6 minute drive long term.

Grats on the big win.

I thought okie st was the better team going in and i was wrong. Makes me wonder if this team played so poorly early in the year because they felt unchallenged..... because they are lights out right now.

Agree.

Still favor OU in 2 weeks and will be rooting for them hard but TT was impressive and OSU was absolutely unimpressive.

keep refreshing the page to see if your numbers are up in the sunday morning coffee thread yet ..........

Good luck on the road next week. The game is going to hit the century mark in points. I've never rooted for OU in my life and don't think I can do it next week.

We've got 2 weeks to prepare and so does OU. I'm not really scared about this game because we have shown in the past 4 years that OU can't out-athlete us. We will get their best effort though. It will probably be another game where the last team with the ball will win.

It seems that Horn fans would be pulling for Tech. It'd make their Tech loss look better and leave OU out of the BCS games.
