NHL Draft and Free Agency 2023

If you had different draft years picking that high

Could have owen power, matty beniers, dahlin, quinn Hughes, svechnikov, brady tkachuk, makar, petterson

Rangers loved petterson too, remember story around draft they were trying to move up to take him

Kinda got unlucky with the drafts

The kaako one missing out on jack hughes, rest of the draft kinda sucked

Byram and seider only 2 from top 10 besides jack who look worthy of a top pick

Kaako has turned into a decent middle 6 player, still hope he becomes a power forward, back in the day iginla and bertuzzi took 3 years to get the man strength

For laf

not a great top 10, stutzle the best player and I know lots of scouts liked him a ton, was never going 1
The Rangers didn't get unlucky at all and they were in fact quite fortunate that they ended up with the second pick and not the first in the Kakko/Hughes draft since they would have fucked it up by picking Kakko with the first overall pick. As much as I despise Drury as it turns out Gorton was even worse as we are seeing first hand with his drafts in Montreal.

As for Lafreneire the team gets no blame for drafting him as every other team in the league would have done the same. The issue has always been how he's been used with practically no power play time and being stuck on the third and fourth lines while slugs such as Vesey and Goodrow consistently get more ice time.

Rangers did love Petterson but Makar was the guy they really wanted. Of course they ended up picking Lias Anderson who can't even stick in the league. Does it really even matter who they draft when the young players will always sit behing whatever vet they pick up in the offseason.

Trocheck is the perfect example of why this organization is trash from ownership on down to Drury. Instead of giving Chytil the second line center position they had to overpay for a clearly inferior player in Trocheck.

Drury definitely could have gotten the Montreal pick for Kakko or Miller and he could have erased a mistake by turning one of those guys most likely Kakko into Michkov who should have gone no lower than third after Bedard and Fantilli who Verbeek stupidly passed on.

Talking to my hockey guys, they said 6 years and 8/8.5 was fair.

So...
Yep, under 8 and only 4 years is great, hes from the area too so probly easier to get cheaper

Nylander is a similar player, hes asking Leafs for 10m right now

Trade was a steal too, look st what Ottawa paid last year vs this

Not much leverage for the Sens, no doubt.

Local product indeed. Welcome home!

At worst the Sens could have gotten a first round pick at the deadline from a team like the Rangers who love giving away picks. Just selling him off now for that return is inexcusable.
