NBA Injuries and Issues for 11/29

redbearde

Pretty much a regular
Nick Collison has a broken nose. Petro and Thomas should get some more time with Nick being out a couple more days.

Cedric Simmons is still out, not that it matters much.

Cedric Simmons missed his fifth game with a sprained left ankle Tuesday and likely is out the rest of this week. Simmons, who has battled ankle injuries for months, said he received a cortisone shot and painful shock therapy treatment this week. He's hopeful it will allow him to return to the practice court soon.

Trenton Hassell came off the bench last night, and it looks like Avery ain't done fiddling with the lineup.

News of a trade of Andre Miller to the Heat for Jason Williams has been denied by the 76ers.

http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,5143,695231367,00.html

Reported the Philadelphia Inquirer: "A Sixers team official said there was no truth to (the) rumor ... "

"The possibility of Miller's being traded ... in a package for Jason Williams and his expiring contract was never a rumor. It was an anonymous post on a discussion board, from someone who said he had 'confirmation,"' the Philadelphia Daily News reported a few days later.

Chris Bosh sat out the 2H of the Grizz/Raptors game on Wednesday. This irritates me more that Memphis didn't compete better in that game. Bargnani stopped playing after 21 minutes.

Bosh was actually trying to play through an injury suffered in practice Tuesday. But despite stretching and warming up and hoping the nagging muscle injury would heal itself, it became obvious early he had to shut it down. For how long remains to be seen.

Sam Cassell will not play friday vs denver

Clippers starting point guard Sam Cassell will not make the trip to Denver for Friday’s game against the Denver Nuggets, due to a strained left calf muscle.

However, Cassell said the injury is not as serious as it perhaps could have been and that he only should miss one game.
“I’m shooting for (playing) Sunday,” Cassell said

Knicks @ Celtics

Celtics are off their second loss this year.
The Knicks don't have Lebron.
Knicks are off 2 days rest.
Celtics are off 1 day rest.
Neither team should be tired.

Knicks go home to play Milwaukee tomorrow.
Celtics go to Miami to shell the Heat tomorrow (as long as they contain flash).

BUT both teams play again Sunday. AND the Cs get Cleveland again on Sunday...this time in Boston. I think that OT loss will be fresh on their minds...

Knicks host Phoenix Sunday.

Any of you think the Knicks are in for a win streak? Me neither.

This is a brilliant microcosm
that mimics how the knicks seemto be shaking (or shaping) up. So much strife even among the fans...

"I will bump this thread until it becomes the official thread"

cus, you know, that'll help the Knicks win.

Boston is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games
Boston is 11-2 SU in its last 13 games
Boston is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games at home
Boston is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home

Denver @ Lakers

Nuggets have been playing like shit except for the last minute of the Pacers game. If JR Smith can hit that 3rd FT, then they go to OT and in all probability the Nugs win (imo).

Not so this time.

The Nuggets like to play soft defense on the perimeter. The Lakers like to bury those. Kobe pretty much always buries those while covered or not. There's no doubt in my mind they'll be raining death from the outside. And the Lakers tend to play a bit more defense than say, the Pacers. Especially on the ball defense - and that's something the Nugs will have trouble with unless Iverson plays 48 minutes.

anyway...

both teams are coming off 1 day off.
Denver lot at home Tuesday - to Indiana.
Lakers won at home Tuesday - against Seattle.
Denver goes HOME to play the Clippers tomorrow (LA might give em 2 losses).
Lakers go to Utah tomorrow.

LA Lakers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games
LA Lakers are 7-14-1 ATS in their last 22 games at home
LA Lakers are 4-1 SU in their last 5 games at home
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of the LA Lakers last 5 games at home

Denver has the second worst rebounds allowed in the league at 47.9.
Los Angeles is second in rebounds in the league at 44.7.

Houston @ Golden St

first off, I think Killa's absolutely right (mark your calendar) about the Phoenix to GSW B2B...that's a helluva thing to do to a team. Especially one like Houston. Yao was sucking some serious win in the 2H yesterday - those fuckers were trying to run with Phoenix.........and they did it.

Both teams are off a road win.
Warriors traveled an hour to Sacramento, and then went home.
Houston traveled from LA monday to Phoenix Wednesday, and now go to the Bay. Saturday they go to Sacramento before going home for 3 days off til they play Memphis.

Perhaps a look for a Kings upset on Sunday? Aside from GSW, the Kings are tough to beat at home.

After tonight, the Warriors don't play til Sunday when they get to go to Seattle and beat all holy hell out of the sonics. I hope they're not much of a fave...

Golden St is 5-3 SU on the road.

Houston is 7-14 ATS in its last 21 games
Houston is 3-6 SU in its last 9 games
Houston is 4-11 ATS in its last 15 games on the road
The total has gone UNDER in 9 of Houston's last 13 games on the road

Houston is 18-4 SU in its last 22 games when playing on the road against Golden State

Golden State is 6-2 ATS in its last 8 games
Golden State is 7-1 SU in its last 8 games
The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Golden State's last 7 games
Golden State is 16-6 ATS in its last 22 games at home
Golden State is 16-6 SU in its last 22 games at home
Golden State is 2-5 SU in its last 7 games at home
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Golden State's last 5 games at home

The only way this game doesn't go over, IMO, is if the Rockets get so tired that they take a shitload of outside jumpers and miss 80% of them. And I think that's fairly possible to likely.

Houston is third in rebounds in the league at 44.7.
Houston has the second stingiest defence in the league at 92.1 points per game.
Houston is second in three points made allowed in the league with 4.9 per game.
Golden State is the highest scoring team in the league at 108.3 points per game.
Golden State has the third worst free throw percentage in the league at 68.8.
Golden State leads the league in three points made with 9.3 per game.
Golden State has the worst defence in the league allowing 108.9 points per game.
Golden State has the third worst field goal percentage against allowing 46.8.
Golden State has the worst rebounds allowed in the league 48.6.

There should be many fouls called tonight, and the Warriors really need to hit their foul shots. this 65-70% shit needs to go up.

Can you explain the injuries that have taken place with my blow up doll? She just lies there lifeless with her mouth open. not sure if its a jaw problem or too much botox.

thanks for the thread.
