I wouldn't be suprised if the Cards are psychologically destroyed the way they lost game's 1 & 2 to Houston after their "heroics" in winning game 2 vs the Brewers seemingly kept their p.s. hopes alive.
Getting swept by Houston via being shutout for the 1st time on the road this season (& only the 5th time overall, but for the 2nd time in 5 games) says nothing less.

Arizona off a couple off painful losses, but hardly losses to leave them similarly psychologically destroyed since they still hold the upper hand in their race, rather they're more likely to react with the pep talk that goes lets forget about the last couple of days and get right back up on the horse.

With Florida & the Cubs next after Arizona, I can see the Cards current run of losses (2-5 SU last 7) exponentially increasing (esp if they catch Florida initially off a loss).

Some thoughts/leans:

Over 10 NYY @ Det : Patterson set to make his 1st start should face a tough lineup but Leyland switches his guys so much I always like to check . Todays LINEUP screamed UNDER . Anyway Verlander has been fairly good most of his starts after a slow start but he never had great sucess vs NY and vs CLE he was in a good spot to get some payback and dropped the ball. One con is the 1 day trip to Det with TB on deck...would look @ Yanks here as DET pen always a question mark and Det hasnt exactly impressed of late as they are lucky to have played KC so much.

Braves ML - Under 9: These guys just squared off in a 4-2 game last week which the SP combined for 17 innings ! Just more of the same what I wrote about FLA before the faced Ollie Perez on Friday. Think now 9-1-1 UND L11 at home vs LHSP. COncerned how the SP adjust though to the same lineups again...lean Braves more then total....

Over 9 Philly : Redding has 3 very good starts vs Philly this yr and Wash swinging well . Have to think the over 1st as kendrick is struggling and just dont see redding being as good since the Phily bats have started to hit better .

Houston ML : Just feel that Houston comes in playing well (somehow) and they gave Cubs a handful last time. Marquis better in day starts but not very consistent @ Wrigley. Don think Cubbies L3 straght at home this season but this may be a good spot ...with Backe and Wolf up next not sure how confident I would be in taking Houston those days....Oswalt very weak last few @ Wrigley so maybe an over comes into play ...

Cards ML; Unit gets NO run support thats why he has dropped four of 5 starts and never seems to get any when he is laying a good price . I dont like Piniero being bumped nor do I like STL vs a LHSP. Still this price is beyond fucking insane . They were just road chalk @ Houston with similiar pitching matchups IMO.....probably an OVER

REdSox ML: Just a fade of Balt at this point. redSox always get the most out of there talent and just see this as being a tough spot for the )'s who dont play RS well...

Und9 WSox / 1st 5 inn UND - Cle so-so vs LH and Richard improving while WSox struggle to score most days on the road vs LHSP....

Thats all just leans nothing strong seems like a weak card ...

METS ML as well . No reason for them to be favored here so with the exception that MILW looks attractive to most gonna be on mets . They are 8-2 L 10 for Johan and both losses thanks to the pen.....

Ponson is starting instead of Patterson :shake:

Over is what you'd think in a Verlander/Ponson matchup, but the yanks bats are made of cookiedough lately...

Is a first 5 inning bet on NYM better then the full game to eliminate the Mets bullpen?

I am playing Tigers...just cannot see yanks winning this one and love how the line is the way it is...always love laying chalk against Yanks...

BC: Maybe you have it already available. Is there anything to the story that the Mets lose after winning as in this story? http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/ga...tent_id=3396061&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=nym

"It's a strange hybrid of emotions, but an accurate one. The Mets beat the Marlins on Sunday, 6-2, giving them a so-called bounce-back victory from the previous night's loss. It was their second such win this week, and one of unfathomably many this season. When the Mets lose, they generally rebound with a win."

SN, we got pondscum hurling and meriweather behind the mound. I think we got a decent setup for an under here as both teams have been hitting like shit..

think det-yanks is an avoid. 1 game series with major rivals for both teams that are payoff teams the next day. does either team care?

Do you think the Phillies remember how Washington celebrated on their field after beating them a couple weeks ago? You would have thought they had just won the world series. I hate Kendrick, but maybe some extra motivation for the Phils?

i am playing the phillies....but I am basically chasing that because I had the braves in 2 of the games over the weekend against the Nats

I believe the Giants are 1-20 SU the game before Lincecum's last 21 starts, and are 4-23 SU before all his starts this season.

jesus christ.

Blue,

i'm wondering if the better team worst pitcher angle is worth it because I often rely on starting pitchers too much as i've been AWFUL on sides this season. I think betting teams like the Mariners with King Felix against the ChiSox and Clayton Richard a week or so ago is a perfect example of how much of a square i am in that regard.

...i'm intrigued by the BOS & TEX overs, but not there yet

Teams playing makeup games( 1 day trips) this year have all gone to the road team . Which is a switch from recent memory .

Mets are 36-24 SU off a loss this season, a winning % of .600 vs their winning % of .581 for all other games. There's virtually no difference.
