Here's what I like:

Orioles/Yankees OVER 8.5
Oakland/Angels OVER 8.5
Yankees ML/Angels ML Parlay
Yankees ML/Mets ML Parlay
Yankees RL

Really cant envision a scenario where the Yankees lose. Guthrie has been awful this spring. He has stated he needs more time to get ready, and was really screwed up by the WBC. His last outing a few days ago was awful. Sabathia will give up a few runs, but the Yankee offense should have a field day.

Dallas Braden has also been awful this spring training. I dont expect him to turn it around against the Angels on the road. Angels have been white hot in spring training, and just dont seem to lose. Saunders may give up some runs, he had a dead arm for part of spring training. He claims he is fine, but we shall see. I like the Angels to win in a shootout if necessary. One thing is for sure, the Halos will put runs up on the board.

I like the Mets to get the win here, but my least confident play of the three. It could be a low scoring game as Harang has been really impressive in his last two outings. He lost 25 pounds over the winter (needed too btw). I dont think the Reds will score much here, but I think the Mets will have chances to put some runs on the board. Could see a 4-2 or 5-3 type game here.

Will wait for umpire data for other totals. I really hope I get the right umps in Baltimore and LA.

mariner who hits liriano best is out ( ichiro )
twin who hits king felix best is out ( mauer )

everyone else is pretty owned. total is low there for a reason.

With the way cliff lee has thrown this spring (21.2ip ~ 46 hit/2BB/2HBP ~ 33R/30ER ~ 18k's) the Rangers look tempting as a home dog.

Also , i would hate to break my dont lay heavy juice in baseball rule this early in the year but the mets are worth atleast a look. probably something i stay away from just on principle but it lines up well on paper for new york there.

I thought Santana was at Even money but then I realized I was looking at the total:angry:
I think the same could be said for Roy Halladay.

rangers dont hit lefties as well as righties but they own cliff lee and he is way out of form ( well i like to think he was out of form all of last year if you know what i mean ). millwood is not exactly reliable either. would lean to the over at 9-15 or better and have to like the home dog here atleast a little.

Texas
A's/Angels over 8.5
Pitt/St. Louis under 8

Agree on the first 2 Dmoney, but a penny for your thoughts on Pitt/Stl. Personally, I think Maholm comes back to earth this year and I'd be concerned STL gets to this # by themselves.

:shake:

^^ assume we have to wait ... but dont remember if there was early info for opening day crews in the past.

I looked further into this and realized that the number is about right, so I'll be laying off there. I've been awful in baseball in the past, so hopefully I can get a grasp on it this year.

Early leans would be Pittsburgh, KC, Chicago Cubs.

Would be interested to get everyones' thoughts on bullpens. I think this early in the season with starters not going deep into the game you have to really look even more heavily at teams with great bullpens.

KC has a very good bullpen, and really like their chances this year.

Pittsburgh - Why is St. Louis laying this much in this contest. I know Wainwright was their ace last year, but does he deserve to lay this much?

Chicago Cubs - Look for Houston to be horrible this year, and Oswalt has not been looking good. Zambrano has historically dominated the Astros.

Thanks for the information, unfortunately I already bet it. We will see. I just think Oswalt is not the same Oswalt. He had some trouble last year, and he has not looked good, and I think this Astros team is going to be a poor team this year, and Zambrano has had a lot of success historically vs. the Astros.

I think Houston will be more motivation for this game after the whole fiasco of moving games that should have been Houston home games to 'neutral' Milwaukee.

Its finally here. I dont think I enjoyed two baseball games as much as I did the last 2 Yankee games this weekend. The new Yankee Stadium ...just WOW ! It seems perfect . Looks just like the old Stadium which is so important to a fan like me and just so modern and NEW YORK from what they showed on tv . Pricey of course but at least it high end looking now .

So we have the SEASON OPENER on Sunday night :

- Philly is the WORLD CHAMPS and playing home tends to be a good fade spot in every sport . It's not an automatic fade situation though just usually a distraction .

Braves :

I wonder if ATL doesnt have a growing process early on in the season . You have new SP Lowe and Vazquez coming aboard both very good additions IMO even though they so overpaid for Derrick Lowe . Think javy will be the better of the two. Still not a fan of ATL's pen and wonder how Campillo fits in . Now looking at ATL there lineup is solid but they didnt hit much at the end of ST as they topped 4 runs I believe just twice in the last 12-14 games . Kotchman had the flu and lost alot of weight and strength he was trying to regain . Garrett Anderson was hobbled as well. Chipper new contract extension sometimes guys pressed and other times they are relieved to get it out of the way . Schafer will be making his ML debut and again could be a growing process for a kid who never played above AA.

Lowe was solid in ST and tends to do well vs Philly but this team is more LH then ever and his most recent starts are simlpy okay IMO vs them. Now Lowe has some issues with LHB which he faces a ton of here and also tends to sport 4+ ERAs in the past few seasons on the road . I just dont like ATLs pen until Soriano proves he is 100% and the LH Flaherty is huge vs Philly and he has been shaky .......

Myers gets the start for Philly and was a beast after being sent to AAA but did struggle(yet again) vs ATL late in the year . Good thing is the ring ceremony is not for a few days so that is not a distraction . Also think with Jurrjens and Vazquez facing Blanton and Moyer the Braves have the edge in the following games.....Myers in a contract year as well

Utely and Feliz seem healthy after surgey. Howard came into camp in better shape and has been a BEAST with 10 Hrs in ST . Remember how terrible he was last April ? Ibanez is an upgrade over Pat the Bat .The Phillies lineup was the direct opposite of ATLS routinely topping 4 runs the ast 12-14 games minus 2 or 3 occassions .....

Myers is good for 6 think the same for Lowe but he may have the better chance of lasting 7 innings.....

Phillis OWNED Atlanta last season even winning every meeting in ATL and have won 22 of the past 30meetings but Myers has struggled vs ATL in the past though was real solid in4 of 5 meetings before 08 ......Philly was 14-4 but that includes ATL winning the last 2 meetings ..yikes !

Want to look at how each teams SP have been in ST and how the relievers fared .....

Lean Philly but might be way to popular to play for me .......

Monday's possibilities ......

Yankees : Mostly because Guthrie looked terrible last outing but that is not uncommon for a SP in his last outing ....

Over 9.5 Texas and Cle maybe Tex as ML +115 : Cliff Lee looking more like pre 2008 version .....

Boston : Could only imagine want TBs record is at fenway now especially in April and Shields still hasnt seemed comfortable in that park

Nats : LHP always seem to throw well @ Pro Player maybe 1st 5 under but these teams can hit some

Mariners : More then Maure being out and the nice price it was King Felix being a stud in the WBC that has be very interested in Seattle even with Ichiro out .....

I'll be on Lowe if I can get +140 against Myers. Haven't forgotten that that guy is a bad outing away from being at Scranton or a mental institution.

Since 2005, Philadelphia has had a significant split in the way their totals results have panned out on ESPN Sunday night baseball.

vs the Braves - U/O 4-0 (all games played in Philadelphia, home side always the Fav: 2-1, 3-4, 1-5, 5-3 scorelines)

vs any other team - U/O 3-6-1 (only 1 of these 10 games totaled < 9 runs)

In 13 ESPN Sunday nighters since 05, Atlanta has played 13 games and paid out on the Over only twice.

Tigers' opening day lineup named by Leyland

by Steve Kornacki Sunday April 05, 2009, 5:06 PM

Get your scorecards out and sharpen your pencil.
Here's the Detroit Tigers' opening day lineup:
1. Curtis Granderson, CF
2. Placido Polanco, 2B
3. Magglio Ordonez, RF
4. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
5. Carlos Guillen, DH
6. Gerald Laird, C
7. Brandon Inge, 3B
8. Adam Everett, SS
9. Josh Anderson, LF
Justin Verlander, P

Tigers manager Jim Leyland said this afternoon he chose Anderson over Jeff Larish, and did not DH Marcus Thames because he wanted to maximize left-handed hitters against Toronto's right-handed ace, Roy Halladay.
"I went with the speed of Anderson," Leyland said. "He's a good defender, he can fly and we're playing on turf. Marcus and Larish might hit a home run off Halladay, but that's unlikely, too."
Leyland envisions a tight, low-scoring game and Anderson might be able to help manufacture a run or make a key play
