Yanks trade for Brewers OF

But it’s not Mike Cameron.

This from the Yankees:

The New York Yankees today acquired outfielder/catcher Eric Fryer from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for left-handed pitcher Chase Wright.

Fryer, 23, batted .335 (129-for-385) with 26 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs and 63 RBI in 104 games with Single-A West Virginia in 2008, seeing time at left field, catcher, first base and designated hitter. He led the South Atlantic League in batting average and on-base percentage (.407) and ranked third in slugging percentage (.506). Fryer was originally selected by the Brewers in the 10th round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of Ohio State University. He will be assigned to Single-A Tampa.

Wright, 25, posted a 10-3 record with one save and a 2.85 ERA in 24 combined appearances (22 starts) with Double-A Trenton, the GCL Yankees and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2008, ranking fifth in wins among Yankees minor leaguers. The left-hander’s lone Major League action came in 2007 with the Yankees, going 2-0 with a 7.20 ERA in three appearances (two starts). He was designated for assignment on January 27, when LHP Andy Pettitte was re-signed and added to the 40-man roster.

You might remember Wright from giving up four homers at Fenway Park (in succession, I believe) a few years back. He’s a good kid though – hopefully he’ll do well.

White Sox

Abreu looks pretty close to be a sock for an 8 million dollar deal, which is pretty low considering he wants 3 years/45 million

Giants

A source on the team claims that the Giants would be willing to give Manny a 2 year deal

Mets

They say that signing Perez was their last big move of the offseason

Ben Sheets had a deal all wrapped up with the Rangers, but then they found something in his physical and now it looks as if he will need surgery to repair it. Could have accepted the Brewers arby offer of 1/12 but turned it down. Now no team is going to touch him.

signal-

not looking like a good year for your screwers bro. that starting rotation is going to be awful, even with gallardo coming back. is soup can the ace now?:36_11_6:

i feel bad for the brewers fans...

they had this great year last year, made the playoffs, had this buzz about them, got everyones hopes up and now theyre gonna struggle to get to .500

agree smoke-

even though the only way they snuck into the playoffs is because CC carried them on his back. but still, they got there, and they have to think this year theyll be lucky to be .500 like you said

bullpen still full of gas cans, and the starting rotation has taken some big hits.

No lie, this could be the worst starting rotation in the NL. Yovani is our #1. We have nobody that has started a game after our 5th guy. Its terrible. Offense is going to have to pick up a huge load if we have any shot at the WC. I am already giving the division to the Cubs.

I know nobody can answer this but WTF is Manny thinking here. First he turns down a multi year deal for 22.5 mill per. Now he turns down a 1 year deal worth 25?? That 1 year deal would be golden for him. He could hit 35 HR's this year drive in 110 and next year when the economy is better get paid another 70 mill for 3 yrs.

Agreed. If the deal he's desired hasn't come yet, it probably isn't on the way. He can get 2 years/45 million at best right now.

It's a wide open year for the Sr. Circuit. Wide open. The Brewers still have a good enough lineup that you can't just write them off.

im glad these threads have taken off as well as they have, thanks guys for keeping up the good info. Try to keep it all updated throughout the year. Hopefully this is informative shit

Dodgers

Manny and the dodgers make no progress. I can only imagine this guy doesnt just want a big money contract, but he wants one that lasts a few years. Thats my best guess at what he's waiting for

Padres

Despite the new ownership, they still wanna deal Peavy

rangers are close to signing andruw jones to a minor league deal, reportedly $500k if he makes the ML roster

Yankee's

Arod might have used steriods 6 years ago

Actually offered Andruw Jones a contract, but as we all know, he signed with the Rangers instead

Marlins

Interested in Pudge

Twins

Interested in Joe Crede but wanna make sure hes healthy + he wants 5 million which seems a little much for a guy that had a back injury

Giants

Will also make a move on Crede

Astro's

Looking at signing Dunn

Nationals

Will be drafting a guy named Stephen Strasburg.

In 1 game...128 pitches.. 5 were hit into fair territory, struck out 23, and allowed 1 hit

Pretty good game...

Angels

Dunn and Abreu are both on their radar

Mariners

Boras wants the Mariners to sign Garett Anderson

Should be some action on Dunn and Abreu almost immediately after Manny finally gets some kind of deal done , which seems likely to be in LA at some point.

nothing from the tribe huh, not even any rumors, hope these guys dont think they have enough to go all the way, especially the starting rotation

Nationals

Dunn signed for 2 years/20 million

Yankee's

Wont attempt to void A-roid's contract

When Orza apparently contacted Arod in 2004...It wasnt because he was concerned of Arod using steriods in the past..but the fact that he thought he was using steriods as a Yankee

Angels

Abreu ...signed with the Angels...for 5 Million...+ incentives

Braves

Glavine might not pitch for them this year if the Braves dont make a deal soon

Mariners

Griffey deal appears imminent

MLB

Bud Selig not dismissing the idea that he can reinstate Hank Aaron as the HR King

Mariners

1 year deal in the works with Griffey even though the Braves are making a less minute push for him

Royals

Interested in Orlando Hudson

MLB

Bud Selig is considering saving everyone the trouble and just canceling the season and awarding the title to the Philadelphia Phillies due to their impending dominance

Was reading an article from one of the Yankees beat writers and CC relayed to them that he didn't do his usual throwing in the off-season last year for fear of burnout...as a result he had a dead arm at the end of Spring Training...thus, his terrible 1st two months of last season.

CC started his normal throwing in November this year and will be STRONG from the get-go, baby..................................................:tiphat:

White Sox

Mark Buerhle considering retirement after 2011

Mariners

Ken Griffey should make his decision on who hes signing with by today

Atlanta

Griffey gonna be a brave, working on final touches of contract...Just reported by Atlanta Newspaper

Pirates

Sign Nate Mclouth to 3 year $15.25 million with a 4th year option of 10.25 million ...you can bet Nate never sees that 4 th year.

Thats why the guy was a fat as an elephant to start the season in '08.

He's s good pitcher but not an all time great - and likely wont be. Bombs away in the New Big Apple!

Cleveland got back plenty for him and the Yankees paid way too much!

Yea, you're right...CC was thin until last year.....:36_11_6:
Yankees paid NOTHING but $$$$ for CC...and, in case you didn't know, they have plenty of $$$$.

CC's stats speak for themselves...one of the top pitchers in MLB...and with the Yankees lineup there is little doubt, barring injury, that he'll continue.

Sorry Cleveland couldn't keep CC...but hating without any facts doesn't play.

Mully

MLB

Selig is a moron

Braves

Ken Griffey denys that he is a Brave and he hasnt made his decision

Nationals

Odalis Perez refuses to show up to camp...

Griffey reportedly agreed to a 1 yr / $2m deal + incentives to return to the Mariners

pretty cool move for him to finish his career in Seattle

Red Sox

Larry Bowa claims that Brad Penny is a lazy uncheracheiving bum

Orioles

Close to extending Roberts

Braves

Glavine near deal right now

Chipper and Braves talking about extending his contract

Dodgers

Working on contracts for Manny and Orlando Hudson

Orioles
