Sort of a homer bet but the Brewers winning the ship at at 30-1 is pretty decent odds imo. They have it all this year plus a deeper pitching staff. For sure like them to take down the lovable losers in the Central. I also like the Angels to win the AL. Not bad value either
 
Santana trade be damned, I like Minnesota's value at 10:1 and higher for the AL Central title.

Agree on the Crew. That team has a ton of upside and last season should make them a hungrier club.

I also think the Angels are the best bet on the World Series with the lowest odds. They are the most likely team to make the postseason despite the Bedard trade. 10-1 is extremely reasonable.

The Mets at 4/1, 9/5, and 1/3:36_11_6::36_11_6:. The Santana trade helped them a good deal. It probably takes them from being an 85-87ish win team to a 90/91 win team and we're supposed to believe they are an overwhelming favorite? Sure, whatever.

Braves at 5/1 for the division is attractive. I'm interested in the Dodgers at 3-1 for the NL West but I have no clue what direction that team is heading. Anyone have a better feel for that clubb.

NL is the NL...so that would be nice to get to the 'Ship then have a hedge possibility.

last year's team is the definition of luck... a (-19) run differential will net you 78 wins more often than it will 88, which is what they fell into last year.

While a 1-2 punch of Bedard and Prince Felix sounds intimidating, they both have durability issues.

I think 25:1 is fair value at best, but in my opinion, nothing i'd jump at.

i wish i could say there is good value in yanks to take their division but that the yanks are never sleepers. They have a much improved starting rotation and their relief pitching is among the best in the league.

Also, chicago white sox under whatever the number of total games they woudl win would be a solid bet because they are a lot of problems and are not getting better at the rate that other teams are in the central division i.e. indians, tigers, twins, and royals j/k, but you get the jist of it.

I like Oakland to win over the total number of games this year as they have amongst the best front office in the major leagues and they would not get rid of valuable pitchers if they were not confident they had someone in their arsenal to replace what they lost.

Braves winning their divisino wouldn't be a bad bet either as they have a solid bat in there lineup, as well as having good farm pitchers comming up within this year so i hear.
 
Diamondbacks at 22:1 with a one-two punch of Webb and Harren....they did it before with only two pitchers (2001)- granted these guys aren't R.Johnson or Schilling yet, but just as well might be a decent longshot for an NL representative.

Agree with the Brewers too....as long as Ned doesn't F'up a few games like he did last year

Cordero's a decent closer, maybe above-average and i don't know if they really added much depth to the pen... there's no significant set-up man.

that being said, they'll need health from Griffey and Dunn and a good rookie campaign from Votto to compete with Milwaukee and Chicago. Those aren't bad odds to win the division, but they've got one more team to compete with than any other division, assuming we count the Pirates as a major-league club.

Valid points.

I think Weathers-Coffe-Cordero will be decent enough to get some wins that were otherwise blown last yr. Cordero was #3 in the league in saves last yr with 43. Of course health from those two hitters is a must there but they have a pretty decent top of the lineup with some guys that can really hit the ball (Phillips-Griffey-Dunn-Encarnacion) The problem is that none of these guys batted over .300 last yr. Bottom of the linep will likely be Bruce-Votto-Ross-Gonzalez which is okay at best. If Votto does have a good year though that only strengthens things up with the offense.I've seen projections of him batting 2nd and I've seen hit at the #6 spot. Ross would likely be the only real weak link. The rotation on the other hands has a lot of question marks after workhorse Harang and Arroyo.

With all that said, this is a wild division and it beats taking the Cubs/Brewers to win it with those shitty odds.
