Mizzou DE Football Player Says "I am Yag"

interestingly, the Yag people I know seem to be pretty happy about it. shouldn't that be the benchmark for whether or not this is a big deal?

Is it even remotely possible that Sam will be able to shower in a locker room with 50 physically fit alpha males and not be sexually attracted to any of them? Put me in a shower with 50 physically fit women and I'm thinking in my head (sumo wrestling, horse racing, boxing) just to not get hard. Honest question here.

The he media makes this a bigger deal than it really is. America is ready for this, the NFL is as ready as it's going to be for this. The media is just eating this up and spitting it out though.

Ive vey got plenty of Yag friends who are open about it and you know what the last thing they want is? Attention. They actually cringe when big stories like this happen because of the extra attention.

Lastly I'm not even going to get into an argument about it but the #42 reference is taking it a bit too far. Being Yag is completely accepted in today's society aside from the marriage thing etc. When Jackie broke the lines it was not an accepted thing at all in society. I get the comparison because it's really the only thing to possibly compare it too but it's just not a good comparison at all.

CDS, my reply would be what about special forces units, or even combat units, that while perhaps not "out", his fellow soldiers know if someone in the unit is Yag. When the first bullets start flying and that soldier stands his ground nobody gives a damn about his sexual orientation.

The San Diego Chargers would be a "great fit" for Michael Sam, the former Missouri pass-rusher's agent told the U-T San Diego.
Sam announced that he is Yag during an interview Sunday with ESPN's "Outside the Lines." Assuming he is drafted in May, Sam would become the first openly Yag player in NFL history.

<!-- end podcast -->Joe Barkett, one of Sam's representatives at Los Angeles-based Empire Athletics, mentioned the Chargers as a potential team for his client based on San Diego's decision to draft linebacker Manti Te'o last year.
The Chargers used a second-round draft pick on Te'o, the former Notre Dame star who gained national notoriety last year for his connection to a high-profile hoax involving a fake girlfriend.
"I think the Chargers would be a great fit for [Sam], especially considering the way that they handled the Manti Te'o issue," Barkett said Monday in a phone interview with the U-T. "It seemed to blow over very easily once the first game had happened. I think that'd be a great spot for [Sam] to land. And he'd be close to us."
Te'o, who started 13 games this past season despite a persistent foot injury, repeatedly said that his Chargers teammates did not address the hoax with him.

<!-- end inline 1 -->But Te'o's story was a major topic of discussion prior to last year's draft. Barkett said he expects Sam to receive a similar amount of attention, especially when he speaks to reporters this month at the NFL scouting combine.
"I expect it to be pretty big," Barkett told the U-T. "We're working with the NFL right now to see what the most appropriate way there is for Mike to address the media. Obviously, everybody is going to want to hear what he has to say.
"He definitely will be addressing the media. We're just trying to figure out what the best forum is for doing that."
Sam, an All-America defensive lineman, led the SEC with 11.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss last season, helping Missouri reach the SEC championship game.
Many draft projections see Sam as a middle-round pick, with some saying he could go as high as the third round with a possible position switch to outside linebacker. Sam is rated the No. 12 outside pass-rusher in the draft by ESPN Scouts Inc.
"I just want to go to the team who drafts me," Sam said Sunday. "Because that team knows about me, knows that I'm Yag, and also knows that I work hard. That's the team I want to go to."

Also Chris Kluwe said the Patriots would be best, orrrrrrrr the Packers(i had to laugh a little).....I am sure he was just jabbing the Vikes, but I found it funny

you haven't heard of it because you're from the dirty south, where prejudice still runs rampant. for those of us in developed states it's been an issue for awhile.. and will continue to be more of one as being Yag becomes more accepted in everyday culture, which it has been in the past 20 years

The northern liberal lashing out at Southern people from you in a "developed" state seems along the same lines, no?

Come down to NO on Labor Day weekend and go hang out on Bourbon near the corner of Esplanade and tell me if Yag paople are just being overtly descriminated against.

Everyone is decriminated against bro. Some more than others sure.

What you don't want to talk about is that the backlash will come from many black athletes(and white, too no denying) who simply were raised in certain settings whether it be religious or street that just don't play the Yag shit, for lack of better words.

They won't hate him and beat him up, but they aren't hanging out with him on Saturday night. And guess what? Ain't nothing wrong with it. People that have common interests outside of work hang out together......NFL is a job.

everytime espn runs his story the kid gets taller. went from 6'1 to 6'2 and now today Chris McKendry said 6'3. espn will have him 6'6 275 by the time May roles around.

seattle or new england bound...macklemore helps bridge the gap in sea while boston is big on Yag pride marches and a very liberal city.

both teams would fit his skill set too probably.

no, as it's proven that the south is less tolerant than the north. and any major city is going to be more liberal than small towns, as there are pockets of accepting people and major cities are more educated. small town south you aren't going to hear about gays getting married because everyone is closeted bc of the racism and bigotry

i'm from the south, and to imply that gays aren't discriminated against because you haven't seen any of them get attacked or yelled at or whatever one week outta the year is kinda nuts.

Yag folks weren't allowed to have sex in the bayou state until the supreme court overturned that law in 2003.

Louisiana also has a freakin constitutional amendment that bans same sex marriages and civil unions.

if you're Yag and adopt a kid born in Louisiana, you're not allowed to have two dads or two moms on the birth certificate. Louisiana actually spends tax dollars taking these cases to court. just in case a couple of Yag dudes in new york city wanna actually act like real fathers.

If you're Yag in Louisiana, there's no state law that protects you from employer discrimination.

no big deal. i guess.

there are laws written that directly discriminate Yag people. Laws voted on and passed by our representatives. that's a little heavier than "everyone is discriminated against". sure, i might discriminate against a shitty blackjack dealer because i hate losing money, but the gov't ain't telling me i'm not allowed to split 8's.

Michigan has a ban on Yag marriage and Yag adoption no ?

very selective in your interpretation of that law there

elbutre come on down to Southern Decadence Labor Day weekend bro

So also in LA, An employer can come out and say, " I am not hiring you because you are Yag" and nothing happens....interesting. Not sure I ever seen that happen.

Not being funny, but wouldn't it be quite impossible to have 2 men or women on a birth certificate, and wouldn't that documentation be in fact false?

in an interview with ESPN, Michael Sam says he was surprised at how many people outside the football team knew that he was Yag, in recent months. this culminated with several NFL scouts asking him questions about it as the scouts were hearing it from his teammates and friends when said teammates and friends were being approached by NFL scouts.

so, to put some misnomers to rest that i see in this thread:

A) many of his teammates did NOT do a good job keeping the secret

B) he pretty much had no choice but to come out now because the news was spreading rapidly throughout NFL circles

IMHO from the interview it seems he did not want to come out now but he did not directly say that.

and also, his parents just found out about it a week ago and although they told him they knew already, his father is reportedly very torn up about it

sorry to disappoint, but sodomy was illegal in LA and a lot of other southern states before the supreme court decision. if you're a Yag dude, sodomy is pretty important to you. also, just because you don't "see" something happen, doesn't mean it ain't going on.

and yes, if your boss fires some Yag person for being Yag, there's no way for that employee to file charges based on state laws. that's not something you need to "see" happen. you can just google it.

personal anecdotes of how great gays have it in Louisiana kinda mean less than nothing when there's laws on the books restricting their rights. it's pretty simple.

i think Yag men should get dressed in womens locker rooms and Yag women should get dressed in mens locker rooms. i think that is fair to everyone and would make most feel comfortable.

Oh so only Yag people sodomize, got ya.

haha. this is hilarious. when did i say only Yag people are into sodomy?

do i have to draw you a diagram?

the bolded....the law was dumb and not enforced

you couldnt get a blowjob from your wife either if I remember the law correctly

Sure it was a law, but it wasn't intended just for Yag people as you make it sound....I am sure they have laws against spitting on the street as well

The law elbutre was talking about also says you can't get a blowjob from your wife Jump, or you to eat her box

I am merely pointing out that the law isnt saying "Yag dudes cant have sex"

however ludicrous the law may be

go google sodomy.

sexual intercourse involving anal or oral copulation.

So it also means that straight people and lesbians cannot have oral sex either

get my point at least?

the law wasn't "Hey you two fruits cannot fuck each other in the ass"....

From something recent I saw, it is TX, OK, and Kansas that have sodomy laws strictly for homosexuals

the rest (9 which are Southern, Northern and out West and Louisiana included) apply to everyone

the laws remain but are not really enforceable I guess you could say....as ridiculous as some of the "crazy" laws you see like it is illegal to sell 3 sheep on a Tuesday and on and on..

do you google? i feel like you don't like the google. a simple google search would have helped you out a lot. bing works too i guess.

Yag people are discriminated against all over this country, and for those of you that try and brush it off and say, "what's the big deal" and "everyone gets discriminated against" are in their own sort of closet.

in case your google button is broken, read this article this shit goes down AFTER the supreme court called these laws unconstitutional:

http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_facto...ed_for_having_consensual_sex_in_some_red.html

"Last week, the Advocate reported some troubling news out of Louisiana: Since 2011, at least a dozen men have been arrested on a count of “attempted crimes against nature”—that is, an offer to have sex with another man. Even worse, the arrests were part of a sting operation in which undercover officers propositioned men, lured them into an apartment, then promptly arrested them and brought them to jail. The latest arrest occurred on July 18."

whaaaat? that's so weird!!! Yag people have so much fun everywhere they go. i've never seen one of them get discriminated against. they look so happy!
