Is it fair that the SEC only plays H. School teams in week 13?

This is an absurd post. I'm beginning to wonder if you think we are hating more or we believe you are more googly eyed over ur own conference. Auburn, ole piss, Georgia and possibly Miss St wouldn't be favored over either school.

The lines that were floating around last week had miss st as small fave against FSU and dogged to Oregon I'm pretty sure. The others would be dogs for sure

McElroy and some dude from Fox Sports said that FSU's 2013 season is hurting them more than helping them. If they went 7-5 last year everyone would be talking about how gritty this team is with all of these come from behind wins. They would be seen in a totally different light and likely ranked higher had they not dominated the regular season last year. I thought it was a pretty good point

I agree with you about scheduling. I have no idea why its like that, but it is. I also agree about the underdog point, but my point is when a team like marshall hasn't played ANYBODY. Not even one power 5 team on their schedule...then nobody even looks at them and IMO they shouldnt. You cant tell me marshall couldnt get west virginia or virginia or virginia tech or north carolina to play them...SOMETHING to hang their hat on. C-USA is C-USA until they beat power 5 teams on a regular basis, which aint happenin this century. It will be interesting to see who they get matched up with in the bowl game.

Marshall didn't schedule a power5 team because they were trying to help other schools get new lights ....

And the bowl game will be the ultimate letdown, why should they have to prove anything at that point?

Snobs gonna snob

If Jameis somehow gets himself suspended for post-season play, would the committee be justified leaving an undefeated FSU team out of the playoff? I think so....

Totally agree with this

Screw all the hubub, let's just get FSU/Bama on a neutral & end debate. If Bama wins, congrats. If the Noles win, return the sentiment in kind. I don't care much what anyone thinks 27 straight ain't easy, if it were everyone would be doing it. 2014 FSU ain't great, but neither is any other team. Honestly in a tight game I'll take Jameis over Blake Sims everyday. The X factor is the SEC rep for the 2nd yr str8 has someone intimate with the FSU offense.... EVERYBODY knew Coker wasn't ever Gon start. He's there for ONE reason

Also I think GT beats UGA & may beat FSU. So I may need to fix MY face before the playoff. If FSU makes playoff, I don't much care about losing at that point. You play for the shit & a loss would be vs a worthy team. BUT....... Let FSU roll & win???? Heheheh

Georgia Tech has to be the last team FSU wants to see in the ACCCG. Now that uga is talking about SEC CG before they even win the east, I expect them to lose

Didn't say that's why power 5 teams do it, just saying that there is mutual benefit in the FBS/FCS games, and that neither side wants to do away with them. You could call it elitist that some schools would never stoop to play a school they deem inferior

Mularkey, it's just the schools padding schedules and paying to do it

Yes, but there are two sides to that coin. FCS are willing participants. Guess we could stop the games and let their ADs fail. If you aren't an FBS athlete, you don't deserve an athletic scholarship.

Said as though scholarships are what drives these kids to go to their respective institutions, we all know better

And for the record, I hate the FBS v FCS games. But I see the benefit for both sides.

I don't understand. You telling me there aren't athletes that go to FCS schools because that's the only scholarship they were offered?

gps is the rare SEC fan that actually doesn't live in a bubble and I appreciate that

Sure but there are some who actually choose those schools as opposed to FBS schools. And a bunch end up there because they end up #2 on the depth chart elsewhere.

Of course the FCS is a willing participants. Who is gonna be unwilling to partake in something that pays you at least 400K just to show up on the field. I would go on the field and get my ass kicked up and down the field for that money too.

Really? I thought $400k was a normal Tuesday night MACtion bet for a big dog like yourself

My point is that the 3-4 games these FCS schools play against FBS teams accounts for a huge part of their yearly budget, probably not just their athletic program either. Taking these games away would be a huge blow to them. No more red fields

And the NCAA needs to step in so this isn't an issue

Sure.

The product already pretty much sucks in that it's a regulated profession in which the employees don't get to see any of the profit, so let the governing body which does collect distribute the wealth amongst the masses.

...or just do away with it. Face it, not everyone is Div-I talent. Contrary to popular belief, universities are for education, not sports. If they can't generate enough profit to support a sports program, they don't need one. Don't get me started on welfare reform.

Agreed 100%. It sucks that college football is so much less about college and so much more about football and revenue, but that will just make us sound like old men bickering.

Lol at socialism. Stalinism comes to mind when I think of the NCAA (seriously). The comparison is all too easy to make. The state makes all the money while the workers are barely compensated. State capitalism at its finest.

Second time Stalin has been mentioned in the last 2-3 weeks. True Renaissance men here at CTG

If it was about college, a lot of these kids would be screwed unless a minor league NFL system developed

ding ding ding

Well the NFL doesn't want to invest into a minor league system when they have one in place for free. Also every attempt at a minor league NFL has failed miserably. I get the argument for a stipend and I'm pretty much behind it. But the reason things won't drastically change are:
1. Colleges are making a shit-ton
2. Networks are making a shit-ton
3. The NFL is having to invest zero dollars which is different from NHL, MLB and NBA...I assume NHL invests into leagues like the ECHL
4. Kids who wouldn't otherwise get to attend solid universities have the chance to get an education...or they can go to UNC and treat it like a true minor league system

I was leading someone to the NFL was where the socialism comment came in.

Braves, Arky would beat TCU

There is only 6 other teams in the SECw and they just beat two of them. So, really there is only 4 teams that could stand a chance vs. ARK.

Georgia would be favored against Oregon. You are the AntiChrist.

I hope college football fails because of fanboys like you, relegate this shit to the minor leagues where it belongs.
Jeez, antichrist is a little harsh dont you think? I was basing my statement off of sagarin's rankings, which vegas lines tend to follow fairly closely. Bama and UGA 1 & 2. Both -2/-3 ish against oregon. And he has FSU around 15th. LSU even favored over FSU according to sagarin...dont kill the messenger man

The way college football is headed, these div 1aa games are gonna go away. SOS is gonna be a major factor moving forward.
