Sorry, just seeing this. I went to thr North Wilkesboro Cars Tour race on a Thursday in May of 2023 and paid to park in a lot right next to the track. They were busing people in from miles away which I assumed would be a big mess, which would be even worse this weekend. I hope you brought a soft sided cooler around the max size that they allow and filled it with beer and water and did not forget sunscreen.

It was very cool to see big time racing at a middle of nowhere rural area historic track that had been abandoned for 15 years.

Didn’t drink. Had sunscreen. We choose Saturday figuring it would be cheaper for parking, ticket, and less hectic. All those things were true. We had a pass for lot 1 but they also opened a new lot across the highway with a pedestrian bridge to help park people close by.

I split Truck bets. Was actually really good ending on how it happened. I needed Rhodes to beat Carurh, the 1 and 13 I think. He restarted just behind tge 1 and 13 on the final restart in regulation got past the 13 but with like 3 to go after trying multiple laps to clear the 1, they both wrecked. So that bet lost. But because that bet lost it allowed my other bet to win which was Hemric top 5 which paid 6:1. Hemric was not a top 5 truck but they worked into the top 10 on the final laps and because 99 and 1 wrecked it allowed the green-white-checker restart and a closer Hemric was able to get a top 5 after the cars racing for the lead Riggs and Heim took themselves out. Stories behind how or why bets win in racing can be fun. Hemric top 5 was the more valuable of the two but wouldn’t have been possible without the accident from my other bet. It’s like an assist!

Cool. I think we parked in lot 2. I liked how they kept the old red and white Winston colors, the faded Winston advertisement, the old character of the track, etc. It has been a while since I had been to a race and I forgot how loud the cars were. Maybe the trucks were not as loud as the Cars Series cars, but I wished I had ear plugs. My ears rang until the next morning.
 
I'm getting more careful with my ears now. I did take earplugs. I use earos and youtune ear plugs for concerts and events like racing.

There was a good truck race crowd. Some of those people left and then we bounced around sitting in some empty seats for the Cup Heat races. No books put up odds for the Heat races and there was only a little excitement in those anyway (Chastain trying to pass Brad for multiple laps and Blaney almost wrecking in Heat race 1 and then laughing at how bad Denny sucked in Heat 2 - because my friend is an 11 fan and I am not), but we stood by the fence in the restart zone, sat on the front stretch and in the aluminum bleachers. Cool place for sure, with the some of the original paint and signage like you say, it really does feel like you are stepping back in time.

Preece Top 10 +270 (FD). This is just a bad number. Preece has finished in the Top 10 in 3 of the 5 intermediate tracks this year. I should play a unit on it, but Preece qualifies so poorly, this number could get better.
