The Truth Is Out There
Fire away fellas.

Some interesting games.

Carson and Scam reppin' the new with the usual old farts, Chicken Parm and Tommy Bubble-Screen.

Noticing the last 2 seasons especially that a good offense beats a good defense, used to be the other way around.

'Defense wins 'ships' is halfway dead.

I blame Goodell.

If Carson makes dumba** decisions as he did Saturday evening the cards will be in trouble. One wonders how injured his hand is.

Carolina looked great one half and then took their foot off the gas. This game is a toss up - Arians does well in the underdog role and will certainly have his squad ready just not sure it will be enough.

Seattle was a stupid coaching decision away from winning the Super Bowl last year and won it the year before.

Top 2 defenses in Carolina and Denver are still playing.

2012 Baltimore may not show well in season defensive ratings, but they were #1 the year before and the where a totally different defense when Ray Lewis came back for the postseason.

Not sure I completely agree.

Arz and NE defenses not bad either, but I get what Emkee is saying. It is definitely an offensive league.

Manning - picked first overall
Newton - picked first overall
Palmer - picked first overall
Brady - picked 199th

I don't know what that has to do with the price of tea in China but I thought it was interesting.

Very Interesting.

28 of the 49 Super Bowl winners have had QBs drafted in the first round and of those 16 were by the #1 overall draft pick ( several have multiple Titles like Bradshaw and Aikman skewing this stat)

Since 2003 the AFC representative in the Superbowl has been either Brady (5 times), Ben (3 times), Manning (3 times) the only time one of these 3 were not involved was Flacco in 2012.

I would be curious to see what the stats are on playoff caliber teams facing one another twice in a season. The general perception is that it's difficult to beat a team twice in one season. The Pats failed to do so against NYJ & Miami & Denver failed to do so against KC, Pitt & Oak. To take that a step further & make it more specific to this game, I would like to see if any team has beaten BB coached Pats twice in one season.

Everyone remembers the last game between these two teams but I'll bring it up once again. Pats were nicked up & had control of that game. Broncos did have Brock in at QB but still not sure he shouldn't be their go-to. A muffed punt by the Pats with a 21-7 lead opened the door for Denver. Then down the stretch the questionable PI on Gronk that would've given them a first down & then the questionable holding on Chung (I believe) in the end zone giving the Broncos a new set of downs that they capitalized on.

Despite no Edelman all game & Gronk not available for the last drive, the Pats still marched down for a last second game tying FG. Had it then not been for a hideous decision to kick the ball away in OT, this could've been a different outcome altogether.

Denver needed all those breaks just to get the game into OT. I don't see lightning striking twice against this team.

Answered my own question. dating back to 2006 Pats have lost four times to a team twice in one season, 2006 Colts, 2010 Jets (played 3 times), 2011 Giants & 2012 Ravens.

Zona and Denver the two worst with "giveaways"...Zona w 24 and Denver w 31.

Thats especially worrisome for Zona since they are up against an extremely opportunistic defense like Carolina, who lead the league w 39 takeaways. Not to mention Palmers finger may have negative effects for him and he looked like a terrified kid out there. Zona does take away at a good clip, 33, but Panthers only turned it over 19 times, they are pretty good w the ball.

Pats have 21 takeaways, nothing special, but w Peyton and his flock of ducks he lets go of, a bit of a worry as well.

Pats stingiest w the ball, only 14 giveaways, led the league. Denver takeaways at 27...

I imagine Zona will look better on O this week, they can't be as bad as last week. Its hard for me to get last week out of my head when looking at this game, though...

Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but with the exception of the Car/Sea total, all lines landed within 6 of the numbers. For a change I hit all my teasers but lost my two straight plays. Gotta think the squares took the books to the cleaners last weekend. Not sure that trend continues but I love me some 10 point teasers come playoff time.

If the lines makers are spot on with their numbers, teasers will pay out at a very nice clip. It's why NFL is a nice sport to do them with, the sharp numbers in that sport.

Tom Brady is 5-1 all time against Manning when favored by 3 points or more. The only thing that worries me is that the Broncos are 7-0 in Hochuli games since 2000 and 6-0 since 2008.

Great, that fuckwad is head zebra? Now tell me Simms is doing the color commentating & I'll truly be a happy camper. Listened to that baffoon enough this season.

The NFC Championship game is a tough one to cap IMO. I've been high on the Cards all season. In fact, I was cashing in on them before Vegas figured out how good they are. Thing is, Carolina really imposed their will on the Hawks, on both sides of the ball. I was amazed at how they stuffed the run down their throat. Was quite impressive actually. The Cards have the size to matchup with them though, and they have explosive skill position players. Should be a great game!

I'm guessing up & the Denver backers are holding out for the 4. Been 3.5 on Bovada juice bouncing between -105 & -115. No way those pricks will show a 3, only at the good books.

Heard a stat on the radio today that Brady is 2-6 all time @ Denver.

brady is 2-6 all time at mile high and 0-2 in the playoffs....not sure the significance of these particular stats though

Will see 2.5 before you ever see 4 again

So does anyone think that Manning was rusty last week and will be more in sync with his receivers on Sunday?

This coupled with Hochuli & the above stats are the things that worry me about backing the pats

I don't think Manning was rusty. His WRs couldn't catch the damn ball

C'mon NBA, do stats from 1984 really make a GD in this game? Good digging so don't take this as a knock but different teams different outcomes. I'm a homer but if I see a Pats loss I'll be the first to call it. Don't see it this weekend.

Um yes. Because New England was still at sea level back then. I just always copy paste as much data as possible. I don't see why it matters? Take it however you want.

Edelman was definitely rusty and still managed good numbers

lol, exactly. Gonna be nothing worse than hearing Nantz and Simms take turns slurping on Manning's cock while praising his audibles.

Some great conspiracy theories in this game, starts with Goodell's hired hitman Burfict taking out AB and setting it all in motion.

No way the Steez lose last week if AB plays, Manning beating Brady would give Goodell a boner for weeks.

Love it, lol. Vegas line is fair as fuck, Pats the better more proven team.

without the late hit on AB the Steelers lose and don't even go to Denver .... so I cannot give that particular conspiracy theory any weight. I do think Goodell would love to see a Manning win though... and what the league wants .......

really don't think past records and trends are as viable a capping source for this game as the individual team stats are....but I do think the thin air is worthy of mention as the broncos have the number 1 home field record in the nfl since like the 60's. And that is significant imo. I just think the difference in the offenses being as great as it is and the defenses being somewhat equal is what will ultimately decide this game....from a probability standpoint....all this imho

Wade Phillips D is giving up 37 points vs Brady in Wade's last 7 games vs Brady.

Read it elsewhere, just putting it out there. The whole Goodell doesn't want Brady to win thing is getting crazy, it's a movement.

I realize you aren't the crazy person making this stuff up, but wherever you read this (or whomever said it) should really no longer get even 3 seconds of your time. As VK correctly pointed out, without that hit on AB the Steelers don't win the game in the first place. That is literally the worst "conspiracy theory" anyone has ever heard...the hit that allowed the Steelers to win the game was called for by the league so the Steelers could then lose the following week without their #1 WR....hahahahahahahaha.

Wade Phillips D is giving up 37 points vs Brady in Wade's last 7 games vs Brady.

This is quite an amazing stat. Wade's defenses have been nothing short of spectacular in each of his stints as the DC. Any idea if this stat includes Wade's time here in Buffalo, when he was the HC and not the DC?

Since Manning has been with the Broncos, Denver has not failed to score first in a home playoff game...

2012-13 vs. BAL: TD
2013-14 vs. SD: TD
2013-14 vs. NE: FG
2014-15 vs. IND: TD
2015-16 vs. PIT: FG

Random...Watching Carolina try to work out in the snow and sleet latter part of the week, It's surprising they, and all NFL teams, don't have an indoor workout facility. You'd think with the millions and millions invested in teams, it'd be a given.

Of course they do. Rivera wanted to practice in the snow to prepare the team for the cold weather.

Trends since 2003:
Manning 18-6 ATS when receiving <50% of spread bets.
Brady 60% ATS in reg season, 44% ATS in playoffs.

It'd seem to make sense to practice in that if snow / sleet had been in the forecast for today. But the weather today is great - sunny and not overly cold, low 40s at kick, and that's been the forecast all week with inclement stuff predicted to be out of the way.

Anyone remember how bad the turf was in Carolina, first for the bowl game and then last week? It was a wreck. I have to think that affects zona more than the home team. Especially a dome team with great speed like the cards.
