CFP: Georgia vs. Michigan Discussion Thread

Uga really pissed me off not bouncing bama, fuck them! Go big blue!! I dunno if I’m actually betting them tho? Too early, not sure.

I dunno if Michigan will be able to run? I’m afraid this a tough matchup for them. Wish total woulda been just a tad higher, gotta be under tho doesn’t it?

I agree that running will probably be tough for Mich. They seem to mainly want to run it down the opponent's throat, but I don't think you can bully the Bulldogs. They could have a slight advantage in the passing game, though, but of course they're a run-first team.

Both teams travel well. Michigan fans escaping the cold weather and masks. Expecting this to be a pricey ticket.
Masks lol.

That's been done since May.

And yes, very pricey ticket.

Many UM people down in FL for holiday already.

Guessing 55/45 split in Stadium.

You going?

They've adjusted when they've needed too.

They have but not against the quality of this d. I know bama shredded them in the air but still think throwing on them be way tougher than say it was on wiscy or the other big10 teams Michigan did. Think they gonna need to hit a few tricks and it has to be low scoring, that their path me thinks. It possible. I hope they do it, cause as I said, fuck uga for letting bama in!

I hope nobody tries to sell a Cade McNamara vs top 25 team sort of stat-line because counting Michigan State‘s atrocious pass defense is just unfair lol

100% agree on Pitt...good QB vs Sparty pass D, awesome run D vs run-primary Sparty...it's a perfect match-up

Nope. Dont want to be away from the family for NY.

Will be in Indy if they can get by.

i swear putting the playoffs on new years eve was fucking stupid imo.. it not that big of deal to me these days as i dont really go out and party like i used to, but i still dont catch all that much of those games. years ago i wouldnt even know who won till the 1st or 2nd!! lol.. New years day would have been much better.

SEC Champ game would have been even uglier for UGA without him. He is awesome

espnU radio had this hilarious thing at start of some show i heard today, they led with the theme music for the bad guys in star wars talking bout uga was the rebels who thought the bad guys were down just to run in and see Saban had the death star operational. fucking bama. Saban's press conf was hilarious too..All i can say is go cincy!! lol.. keep it close anyways, freaking bama, just being competitive against them a win for bearcats. i do think they will make it a game into the 4th but dont think they can win,.

I just liked the headline

i suppose that exactly where the espnU radio show got the idea, ya know i woulda rather seen ya'll lose, lol. more cause i hate this deal where we have a non conf champ in the playoff more so than hating bama. It was pretty cool when i heard them come on to that music and talk about bama related to star wars only reason i brought up.

Wish it was played indoor but I took over 43. Just a number grab...two competent offenses, Michigan playcalling has been very good, extra time for offenses to prepare, etc. It’s such a low number that it doesn’t take a ton to get there imo

Interesting read from Purdum on the game's line.

wow, 4x more money on michigan to win the natty than any the other teams!!! that crazy. not that i hate michigan or anything, just shocking to me they taking more bets than the sec teams, is that fandom or ppl wanting to see something different? i dont even know the odds for each team, maybe it value? ill say this, having to beat uga then potentially (most likely) bama after that, you have to give me a whole bunch of plus money to bet anyone beating those 2 b2b!!

How long before kick do the teams get down there? I'd think Michigan especially would need to acclimate themselves to the humidity in Miami almost like you would for elevation. Also will effect recovery time compared to a team playing in the air conditioning

I'd assume they will head down day after Christmas.

Is it really that hot at end of December? I was there 3 weeks ago and it was chilly.

Michigan played FSU there the same year of the robbery in Columbus. They'll be fine.

Humidity is more what I'd be worried about. Our guys were gassed chasing Kyler down there 3 years ago

The big thing as we start discussing this matchup...

All the pressure is on Georgia. They believe this is a mismatch and are already planning for Alabama again. They may be right. This is where Mich needs to get them into a 4th quarter game where they do not have much experience.

One team gonna be loose, one might be tight?

Something to chew on.

respect your opinion as always but that a tough thing for me to grasp, they both playing for a chance at the natty, i dunno how there more pressure on one than the other? just cause uga was expected to be playing for it all? as always i admit im terrible when it comes to the psyche of players/teams so maybe im dead wrong here, it been proven my mentally is not that of normal ppl! lol.. who told you they believe it a mismatch? shouldnt every team go in thinking they are the superior group or confident at least?

I don't know that UGA is thinking that to be honest. I think they are shook. It wasn't like they lost on a 50/50 bounce, or one play where they could leave Atlanta thinking the wrong team won. They got whooped. Maybe it's what they needed. We've seen teams come back from a loss with a renewed sense of purpose and drive. We've also seen this kind of thing sow the seeds of doubt in themselves.

I saw someone tweet that Stetson Bennett isn't the reason they lost, but he is a big reason why they couldn't come back once they were down. I think that's exactly right. Hutchinson can cause some real problems, as long as he doesn't get frustrated, because he is going to be held more than he's ever been in a game before. Pressure Bennett and get the chains moving on offense, you can wear this UGA team down. Would advise tempo, just not sure that's going to happen with Michigan

My local has Georgia-2.5 vs bama. They have to get better pressure from their DL and then should put 2 guys on Williams every play.

I’m happy Michigan is now once again the crème of the B10. They eradicated the misery of the past 15 years with the demolishing of the Buckeyes who will likely never recover.

With that being said, as a lifelong fan, I don’t see how they move the ball effectively here. Trust UGA after a long layoff too more than Harbaugh.

We’ll get the rematch again with Bama vs UGA.

Georgia should be the play. I really do think it was a wakeup call last week. They had been killing shitty teams all year and were not prepared at all once they got hit in the mouth.

But fuuuuuuuck. I played Alabama big last week partly because of Stetson Bennett. He just sucks. How can you lay 9 with him against another good defense with even better pass rushers?

It defied belief that Kirby has stuck with him over Daniels all year. Insanity at it's finest.

I think this is probably the most evenly matched game of the bowl season. Really looking forward to watching this one. No play yet, but lean under.

I don't know that Daniels is that much better, though I guess he did beat him out to start the season. The issue with UGA is, as well as they have recruited, look at their QB and WR. If your best pass catcher is a freshman TE, you are doing it wrong. I don't care how awesome Bowers is, that is not how you build an offense at an elite program in 2021.

The way to beat UGA, as it has been every year under Kirby, is to make them play a high scoring game. They are simply ill-equipped to play that way. I haven't watched Michigan enough to know if they are capable of doing that. The defense shouldn't have too much problem with the UGA offense, unless UGA is able to do what they have done to most teams this year, and just lean on them until they break. If it's a game that's going to be played in the 20s, I think UGA wins. But if Michigan can stop the run and force Bennett to make tough throws with Hutchinson breathing down his neck, he will turn it over. I think it should be a really competitive game.

Bennett is good for what he is. With a strong running game and solid D, he can hit some WRs over the top for a few big plays a game.

But he's not gonna bring you back from a deficit when teams know you're going to throw. There's a reason he's a former walk-on.

Kirby has hitched his wagon to him. He mentioned in the presser there was no talk of putting JTD in. Now he gets 3 more weeks of answering the qb questions.

In fairness to him, the WRs were banged up all year. A healthy George Pickens would have been a game changer.

I personally don't think UGA wins a title with Bennett, but it's too late now to change.

I'm fascinated with this game. How does the big, bad bully respond after getting knocked out?

I dont have a great feel for what Michigan will be able to do on offense.

i played Bama ML just because if it ended up being a close game, Saban would figure out a way to outcoach Kirby. I may do that here as well.

The total is low, I don't know if it stays under or goes over but I have to assume it's a game we're points are hard to come by for both. 42-3 is dominating and Michigan did dominate, but Michigan had just 21 pts through 3 Q vs Iowa (one TD was long WR pass). I think we all respect Iowa D regardless. It was kind of like vs Wisc, just 13 pts HT and 20 entering 4th. Big 4th Q scoring in both those (21 and 18) makes it easier to forget the first 3Q were lower scoring. I loved how Michigan played vs OSU, if they could just replicate that. But as we respect Iowa D I don't think we share the same respect for Buckeye D. Vs another pretty good Penn St D Mich scored only 21 on PSU (was only 14 before final long TD to retake lead late 4th). Teams could end each in low 20s, or one could have 17 and the other could have 20 or 24. I don't think Michigan gets blown out and if they lose it shouldn't be by more than 1 score. I'm pretty interested the taking the points. The total is tough for me. I'd probably just wait for a HT total play

no it wont be humid or hot especially since they are the night game so should be great football weather doubt humidity or any weather conditions hampers Michigan.. wont be seeing 90-100% humidity 80 degrees

Is was humid AF when Alabama played OU 3 years ago. Obviously it's late December, so there is some variability. Again, won't matter much for this game, could affect the winner the following week in what figures to be a very physical game

This game all depends on uga players mindset imo. They’ve been great front runners all year but just got smacked in the mouth by Bama. Michigan isn’t Bama, and doesn’t have Bryce Young, but they do have 2 really good RB and are playing great football rn

i cant do anything but look at it like we gonna get both teams best, i dont think that necessarily means uga wins tho. you right michigan aint bama, as in they cant put that kind of pressure on bennett to have to score that much, it just not gonna be that kind of game. they might be able to put uga offense in a lot of 3rd and 6 or more where it known throwing situations tho and force some mistakes like that? to me it feels like a game low 20s is gonna win. i think michigan can scheme up a few big plays, other than that can they drive the field on uga for a score or 2? i dunno..

I don’t trust either qb here lol
