CFP: Georgia vs. Michigan Discussion Thread

I honestly never liked Bennett I’d rather uga played JT but can’t do that now

nobody does, other than kirby, lol.. i think it woulda been wise to let them both play while they were whipping everyone, what good did it do locking yourself to bennett when he wasnt doing anything most college qbs could do? now for better or worse he the guy.

Yeah I agree. He at least should have played some

With the way UGA recruits, there is no excuse for not having future NFL players at QB and WR (at least more than 1). Sure, their 4th string DL may go to the pro bowl, but that's not going to help you win these games

They do, probably 4 or 5 of the WRs (not including 2 or 3 of the tight ends) will play in the league. JT isn't a recruit, but he is also a pro. Beyond frustrating that Stetson continues to start.

Any chance JT plays?

Seen some random rumors.

This is one of the games where UGA has a ton more talent on both sides of the ball. I know that Ohio St did also...

UGA's secondary is their weakness. Not sure UM can throw the ball to win this game. This reminds me of some of the games UGA dominated playing limited offenses who were one-dimensional or had average quarterbacks.

A couple more weeks for Pickens to get healthy also helps. UGA by DD is my guess.

With UGA's defense, Bennett is enough to beat most teams, especially this year. Bowers is a future HOF NFL player if he continues on this path. UGA should have more than just future pros at WR, they should have 1st/2nd rounders. Same for QB. I can't say I've seen JT enough to say if he's that kind of player or not.

On gameday before the SECCG, you heard Saban say Bennett was a very good QB, Kirby called Bryce "special." I think you have to be special at that position to win a natty these days. UGA can get that guy. They just have to do it and be willing to develop him and turn him loose

A lot of people think Gunner coming in next year is that guy. When JT has played, which isn't often (besides the Clemson game) he has been special.

Agreed. It's been a while since AJ Green. We've had guys like Hardman, Godwin, Conley go to the league but nothing like OBJ/Landry/Jefferson/Chase.

I see what you did there lol

michigan is not one dimensional.

Georgia should be the play. I really do think it was a wakeup call last week. They had been killing shitty teams all year and were not prepared at all once they got hit in the mouth.

But fuuuuuuuck. I played Alabama big last week partly because of Stetson Bennett. He just sucks. How can you lay 9 with him against another good defense with even better pass rushers?

It defied belief that Kirby has stuck with him over Daniels all year. Insanity at it's finest.
Daniels played the whole game against Clemson.

Burton gotta shine. He has the minerals

Sounds like UGA has some Covid issues, including JT Daniels.
Will be interesting on all of these at this point. 9 days away....assume they have time to get back? Not sure what the SEC or Georgia have in place as far as requirements to return after a positive test at this point.

I'd assume they are ready to go.
Better now than in 7 days.
I believe it's 10 days after exposure. So, obviously they can retroact the date.
Testing comes into play as well.

Michigan getting full team wide boosters today. They've been relatively unscathed even as their residing county had some hellacious bouts with different viruses all fall long.
See what happens.

Interesting. How do you feel about that approach? Not sure what help the boosters could have in a week?

I'm more worried they'll come right down with it. I don't want to detail this thread but many people come down with it after vaccination/boosting. That's my biggest worry.

I wish that if this was their approach, they did it the Monday after Iowa.

Now, if they stay consistent with no testing unless symptoms we should be fine. CFB luckily isn't as dumb as the NHL/NBA.

This virus..........

They are using an inaccurate test for someone with no symptoms who is vaccinated. Still don't understand the point of getting the vaccine, if you have to wear masks, and get tested.

BREAKING: Multiple sources confirm UGA WR GEORGE PICKENS IS NEGATIVE FOR COVID-19 and has been released from quarantine protocols after numerous subsequent tests found that Pickens does not have the virus. The result reported earlier in the week was a false positive

Ridiculous. Let's just have a good, clean football game with no covid bullshit or bad injuries. May the best team win.

Gonna see a lot of jj Mccarthy me thinks.

Michigan will get to the GA qb. I do know this.

Also, yes, Michigan struggles with the pass game at times, but they get a lot of big plays.

They might not win, but it will be a lot closer than people think. They will be the most physical football team GA has played all year and that includes bama. The same can probably be said for GA physicality vs Michigan too obviously.... but this Michigan team is not afraid of anyone and won't back down.

I think the better question is what happens if GA gets punched in the mouth early? Will they fold like a cheap tent in the bama game? GA isn't used to being kicked in the mouth and a lot of games their starters rested in the 4th quarter. Especially their qb #1. He's not used to a dog fight.

I’m convinced Michigan ml and ats the right plays but not super confident they do win, just think their chances of doing so better than the odds suggest.

MIAMI, Fla. - Quarterback JT Daniels and wide receiver George Pickens have arrived in Miami after clearing protocol for Covid-19

Pickens was seen disembarking from a plane late Monday afternoon for a ride to the team hotel. He later posted a picture on Instagram stating he had arrived.

At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Monday, six or seven players were seen getting off two planes at Signature Miami FBO airport, adjacent to Miami International.

It was not immediately clear if Daniels was among them, but a source later confirmed to UGASports that the quarterback is in fact in Miami.

According to our sources, both are now expected to be available for Friday night's Orange Bowl against Michigan.

Georgia by a million.

Been sitting on this Dawgs future for 11+ months now. Time to cash it in.

Now, it does concern me their best win is Kentucky. The SEC east is like the Big Ten West.

But, this is a strong team.

Consensus around my SEC gambling guys who I’d normally suspect be lining up for UGA are alllllll talking UM. Just interesting

Just a few thoughts

...whats this line in october ?

...whats this line if georgia beat bama and michigan ohio state is a much closer game ?

... think whats fresh on peoples mind is michigan pounding the living you know what out of ohio state. But in perspective ohio state's run defense isn't great so are we buying michigan high ?

Michigan - on the whole - has been solid but not dominant. Nebraska, michigan state, penn state - these teams are pretty blah too be honest and michigan struggling to beat these guys ? Are these 3 teams better than arkansas, kentucky, tennessee ? .....what happens if georgia played nebraska

I'm left thinking the iowa game felt deceptively to me more like 10-14 point game for michigan than a 30 point win......remember when rutgers tested michigan 2nd half and people said this is how you combat michigan , a physical tough team on d and an offense that tried to punch them in the mouth physically. ...not gonna overreact on that game but georgia seems to be the perfect matchup for dogs. Right up the alley for how georgia d wants to play.

All that and I'm still not sure I can pull the trigger on georgia.......

but how does michigan score ? they gonna run it on georgia ? - This stat that michigan has the most explosive plays just seems hard to translate to this game. has me thinking northern illinois and western michigan play crap d. Best defense they faced penn state and wisconsin - they didn't look very explosive imo

Georgia I think can get to the 20s.

One thing I wouldn't judge is the Michigan offense the first 5-6 weeks vs the last 5-6 weeks.

They had a definite plan coming into the season of how they were gonna build and run the offense. It was highly scripted.

The line is a bit off, methinks.

See what happens.

What's your projected score for this game ?

I'm leaning georgia or pass all together.

Thing that scares me is Georgia isn't exactly explosive either and they gotta cover 7. Can say same thing about georgia - that florida win was deceptive. Couldn't cover vs cincinnati last year in the bowl game. I compare georgia this year similarly to last years team.

I'll do a full preview Thursday... Superstitious right now that we lose guys to covid.

I think it's a helluva game to be honest.

27-23 type of affair.

I'm usually a pessimist in this kinda situation but I feel really good about this team this week.

Again, it's a win win for me with home team or future bet.

Every day I love Michigan a little more, growing confidence for bigger ml bet, I dunno if that good or bad but it where I’m at. I was all bout Uga bandwagon all year too, I dunno, just think Michigan wins!

I’m really hoping we get a extensive list of player props for these games, you would think they could do that, or they could continue being lazy I guess, lol. Edwards in the passing game interest me a bunch.
