Last Week 9-7-1; FCS 5-6 ; Crossovers 2-1-1 ; FBS 2-0
Season Totals:
All Games - 75-54-1 58.1%
FCS v FCS 51-43 54.2%
FCS v FBS 13-3-1 81.3%
FBS v FBS 11-8 57.9%
The FCS plays tailed off late in the season and I forget what the breakeven % is at -120 juice, but I suspect the 54.2% is pretty close one way or the other. Adding in the FBS-FCS crossovers, it was a profitable 13 weeks. I'll take 58% overall anytime;
now if I could just stay away form all those other FBS games. :crying:
Playoffs started last week in Divisions 2 and 3; they begin 11/30 in FCS.
I chop off at least 30% in my bet size at this point because there is not much external help in selection divisions 2 and 3, and the FCS lines offer little or nothing super-attractive.
With that bit of caution, here we go:
Starting with 5 games where I think the home team has the best chance of covering the number-
Fordham -6 v Sacred Heart - Fordham recovered from a late season slump when their star QB came back from injury. Definite diff in conf strengths here.
Coastal Carolina -4 1/2 v Bethune Cookman - Go with the higher ranked home team in a lo point ballgame.
So Carolina St -3 1/2 v Furman - Going with the steam here, and both rating gurus I reference have this one rated at a bigger number.
Jacksonville St -2 1/2 v Samford - Slight edge in conference strength favors the Gamecocks in this one. I was not thrilled with Samford's late 1 point win vs conf doormat last week.
Northern Arizona +4 1/2 v So Dakota St - Despite discrepancy in conf strength here ( which I don't really agree with) the Lumberjacks have big home field advantage.
5Dimes has those playoff games at -110, by the way. But the following Division 2 and 3 playoffs are at -120. Not much of any help from outside sources with these, but let's see if we can bring enough winners home to make a profit.
Lenoir Rhyne -7 1/2 v Carson-Newman
No Alabama +4 1/2 @ UNC Pembroke
Shepherd -3 1/2 v Winston-Salem
NW Missouri St +3 1/2 v Minnesota-Duluth
West Texas A & M +7 1/2 @ Ohio Dominican
Colorado St-Pueblo -10 1/2 v Grand Valley St
Hobart -2 v St John Fisher
Wesley -8 1/2 v Ithaca
Mary Hardin-Baylor -20 1/2 v Rowan
Linfield -21 1/2 v Franklin
Finally, a few more familiar names-
Ohio State -15 1/2 @ Michigan - Meyer likes to cover to keep the alums happy. He has lost the last two in a row, and I doubt if it happens a thid time in a game where among all else he wants to impress the voters.
UConn +2 1/2 v Rutgers- While the Scarlet Knights seem to have given up, the Huskies are still trying. Their come from behind win over Temple last week - a Temple team stronger than the one n Rutgers sqeaked by a few weeks ago,-should give U Conn a mental lift to end what was a winless season with two straight victories.
Alabama -10 1/2 @ Auburn - In my youth a wise old uncle repeatedly advised me to 'never bet against the Yankees.' In today's college football world, the Crimson Tide are like the 50's NY Yankees.
So California -3 1/2 v U C L A - At this point in the season, I would guess that Coach Orgeron would beat team Oregon.
I hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and all have profiatable weekends. :shake:
