Black Monday- Kubiak Raiders

Cowboy's may have hit on a major score swiping Christian Parker from the Eagles to be their new DC. The guy developed Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell, has Patrick Surtain as a fan and is a Fangio disciple. One of their biggest holes on defense is having a well-coordinated pass defense. This guy appears to fit the bill. Now they need to add some talent.

It helps when talent wise you have 2 of the 5 best corners. Mitchell was a can’t miss. Cant believe he didn’t go higher.

Interesting twist as the Cards are notoriously discreet about interviews for HC over the decades but now it's floating around they're interested in the Pats' passing game coordinator Thomas Brown. Never heard of him but apparently was Bears OC a year ago and former UGA RB

These names are so meaningless to me. Just another guy but if he's in the mix I hadn't heard about it until tonight.

Good for Baltimore to have a solid defensive mind again
Twas only a matter of when, not if, as far as Minter making the move to HC.

I get a good chuckle now out of the fans that questioned his hire back in 2022 to Ann Arbor after Mike McDonald left for the Ravens. Simply because he was coming from Vandy.

Jesse has built a nice resume and is a brilliant defensive mind. I think he definitely has that little bit extra to be a successful coach. The CEO part is so big nowadays. Let's see who he surrounds himself with!

If Bills bring Philip Rivers the power dynamic rests and remains firmly firmly with the GM.
I would assume that this is simply to help Rivers get his feet wet in the NFL coaching circles.

He cannot be anywhere near ready to be a HC in this league.

Will be be down the line!? Absolutely. And I think pretty successful.

That's down the line though.

Or maybe they are just crazy enough.

Jim Harbs liked to send a few assistants out for NFL interviews (coaches, assistant positions etc) so they could get a feel for the process and get their name out there. Generally the guys were a year + away from having any of those opportunities in a true sense. One great example is Jesse Minter after the 2022 season.

Im not sure I’d want to accommodate anything Lamar wants with the stories we hear about him.
Instead of bagging on a two time MVP I'd really enjoy your take on who Baltimore should accommodate.

Cut Lamar and draft a QB?

You say some stuff and I appreciate that at least.

I’m just not rolling over to accommodate a guy that doesn’t seem like a good vested locker room leader.

I’d definitely consider blowing that thing up if I could get 3 1s from a poverty franchise in return.

Without him they are the Panthers

Btw I still have no clue what we're doing in the desert. I see no way that Kyler is back after basically media assassination on him (rightfully so) and no path for redemption but there is no angle for a starting QB at this point next season. Love the narrative that the team is lost and an easy one to grasp on to given the QB situation but the rest of the team is pretty much loaded. Crazy to say after a 3 win season but break it down and tell me where it's off if Harrison can at least become productive. OL depth is the only problem once Conner and Benson are back. And that pesky QB position.

Daboll. -250( Said it's only at this price bc 75© of the money is on Daboll, doesn't want any more )
Other. +300
D Webb. +600
Kubiak. +375
Brady. +450
Udinski +500
Anarumo. +800
J McDaniels. +1500
Weaver +2000
Lynn. +2000
Joseph +3000
Tomlin +10000

Tomlin 8-12 playoff record.
McCarthy 11-11 playoff record.

Probably not what I expected but I'll give him a chance. Definitely needs a younger team and a top notch DC. Hope it works out.

The Panthers are a playoff team that appears to have a good coach so you might need to refer to real laughingstocks like the Browns and Jets.
I actually like a bunch of what the Ravens have but not accommodating Lamar because of a personal bias is ludicrous and he knows it

Loaded for running game, way above average defense, two time MVP

So you don't want to cater to his request?

My best friend is Dallas fanatic and I remember him suffering through the McCarthy era well. Winning 1 SB with Rogers in his prime is NOT good imo, let alone his Dallas tenure. Of course I think John Harbaugh winning 1 SB in 18 years in Baltimore is NOT good either, as well as not winning bigger with Lamar and King Henry. But what do I know. IMO a disaster choice for Pitt. No Coen, Vrabel, MacDonald, Johnson here.

I give Mike a lot of shit...

Some unfairly.

With the Cowboys, I felt they hung on a few years too long.

He was very good in GB overall.

If you want to look at this as sort of a bridge hire -- fine -- I understand the lack of hot names this year or up n comers. Let him keep the ship steady and then find your next long term coach in a few years.

I'd hope that's the plan but I could be just hoping for their fan base.

Hey, maybe he'll prove us wrong. This just didn't move the needle for me.

Impossible to not look at it as a bridge which is crazy given the franchise history

I don't know how you can plan on that guy to be healthy enough to be your coach after more than maybe 3 years. He's a worse and older version of every bad thing that's been said about Tomlin on here. If you are the needle, sit back and enjoy the snacks and booze because you haven't been moved.

Zero direction with this hire. Maybe hoping for a homerun in a couple years while you suffer through uncooked pizza?

yeah, just a total boring hire. In general I don't like retreads. Vrabel has been great though. Only hire I like so far is Minter. Not a Stefanski fan but know a lot of folks like him. If Pitt was going this route I'd have thought Flores.

I wouldn't call Vrabel a total retread.

One coaching job only -- and he was successful there but simply had hit the wall at that job. That's what generally happens in the NFL at a certain point.

Retreads is these guys on opportunity 3-4-5-6.

Aghhhhhh you would

Looking like the Vance Joseph fade was lucrative all week

funny you say this as I hesitated to include him. Agree.

I think this is Pittsburgh basically saying they still think they are a contending team and don't want to have the patience needed for a young coach. Its more a negative in that organization not thinking they need to draft better and get younger than a reflection on McCarthy.

Man I think it's the opposite, like they've finally figured out it can take 3 years to rebuild and easy scapegoat after 2 years to bring one home.

No way you can convince me into thinking they went into this as a 2 year situation at best and eating the 3rd year guarantee seems pretty good

Bingo ..Two of my die hard Steelers fan buddies wanted Flores , they certainly didn't want McFarthy

I really trust our GM and think something bigger is brewing

Hope you're happy with whoever they bring in brother .
McDermott is a winner thou , dude broke the playoff drought with Tyrod and WR's you may have never heard of lol .

Not sure i agree with you on needing patience with younger coach. Look what Coen did with Jacksonville, Johnson with Chicago and MacDonald with Seattle did in 1 or 2 seasons. In football it just has to be the right guy imo. I see more .500 ball for Pittsburgh with McCarthy, maybe worse if they don't get decent qb.

The best way to get a good job in the league is to flame out with the jets that makes guys a hot commodity. Saleh is getting a second job with all the blame going to Woody, Mike Lafleur has a chance of getting the Arizona job and even Joe Douglas has interviewed for the Atlanta GM job.

Sounds like Wink is basically begging for the jets DC job since no one else seems to want him and Reich is looking for more retirement money to be the OC. Just as I said when he took the job with the jets Tanner Engstrand basically committed career suicide aligning himself with Glenn and now he is getting demoted after getting nothing out of Fields and Cook like anyone could have done anything with those scrubs.

Don't know how I feel about Brady being HC ..The offensive numbers are good , but is that Josh , Jimbo and the solid O line ?

Better put a solid staff together on the other side of the ball
