Baseball is officially back -- Let's start capping

he's made a shitload of money and just got traded, why not avoid a life-changing lung disease

Anyone crazy enough to analyze the Yankees-Mets game tonight? 7.5 is the total with the DH? Cole threw in yesterdays inter squad game. I can't see this staying under. I'll be buying it to 7

I’m not even sure I can watch baseball now. With the no fans/atmosphere and, for some fucking odd reason some dudes wearing masks (some coaches, some umps, some camera guys) it’s just super strange. The cardboard fans behind the plate is such a joke as well. This is dumb.

And then to listen to them constantly go on and on about social distancing, the virus, whatever...good fucking grief.

Turn the volume off. Karl Ravech is the worst.

I don’t even understand how this is possible anyway. They’re playing ALL of the NHL games in Canada, but baseball (outdoors in the fucking summer) isn’t okay? Hahahahaha, what a bunch of idiots.

Is this a real misunderstanding?

They're playing in a bubble, teams are quarantining before coming, and then in the bubble there

Vs

Teams crossing the border constantly, with no bubble, coming from different cities and states

They arent worried about players getting it playing baseball on the field lol

They take private flights and can easily be escorted to ballpark with little to no interaction with anyone outside of players and league personnel. I’m not sure why they’re worried about anyone “catching it” based on that.

That's not the issue

They dont have a bubble during the time off, players arent being forced to stay in hotels, they can go into the city, the area around the dome is one of the most densely populated areas in north america

If mlb and the pa had agreed that its plane to hotel to park to hotel, repeat 3x, and back to plane, I doubt it's an issue

@wiseplayer trying to get an idea on who will be more rusty the next couple of weeks, hitters or pitchers... Your Thoughts?!
Hard to tell. Last night I saw a mixture of both. I saw hitters who refuse to hit the opposite way while being pitched away. I saw pitchers who probably shouldn't be in the Bigs. With rosters carrying more pitchers I have to believe at times we'll see hitters much further ahead of pitching. It'll be very key to look at the starting pitchers and then the depth of bullpens and how they're being used. Managers will actually have to manage in such a condensed season. I personally think we're going to see a very offensive season because baseball is corrupt like that. They've instilled the DH for the NL. They'll more than likely continue to load up balls and will probably not enforce PED testing. They'll try to capitalize as much as possible during this pandemic.
I absolutely love that everyone is in 1st place with 60 games remaining. Hopefully we'll see a bunched up pennant race heading into the last week with multiple play in games to decide playoff teams.

Totally understandable considering how well the US is handling Covid. Just play in Buffalo and let's get on with it. Doesn't matter for Bluejay fans so long as they're on TV.
It will be a nice change of pace for tv too to see teams playing in a minor league park, wish more teams did it

This rule about 3 batter minimum for relief pitchers is going to be interesting. We have expanded rosters with more pitchers on the staff. The Yankees exploited an average Mets relief pitcher after they took out Diaz. If you're on top of Live ingame I have to believe you can probably find situational advantages.

Good to be back fellas.

Looking forward to Thursday night. I tend to think that pitchers will have a slight advantage to batters from the time off. I'm sure I'll have action on both games Thursday night.

while I know that is what Canada is saying , not sure I’m really buying that’s the real reason

countries are really relishing the chance to shit on the US and we know Trudeau hates the current administration

In reality MLB players present very little risk, and they are going be tested all the time.

feel bad that they have to spend 3 months in Buffalo

Public sentiment has been to not let them play up here, the health experts up here didnt want it. It may be political but if it is it's not anti US, it's the liberal federal party protecting themselves, it's a no win situation.

Let them play and no one thinks about it again if it goes well, if one player from a random team tests positive and its found out he went to a restaurant in toronto or anyone gets a positive test linked to an mlb player, it's a huge national story

Theres pushback on the nhl bubbles being up here, not related to testing or test speed just bringing people up, and that's a much safer situation

Thats the weird thing about this virus...

It'll put some people on their ass and others don't feel a thing. You've got to imagine that Freddy Freeman is one of the healthiest people in the world (top 2%) and it gives him 104 fever. I know there are a ton of skeptics but this thing can really ravage someones system. How we handicap with this COVID will be interesting. Going to have to bet in the 11th hour most nights to ensure that starting line up is correct and someone isn't sick. Lines will move up and down but I think you'll see more value in waiting until just before first pitch to unload on a game. Especially if say, Judge and Stanton go down and its announced just before gametime. Have to jump on that line....

Also think about considering team morale. This shit is scary to alot of people.

What happens if 6 guys in Boston catch COVID. You'd imagine the rest of the team will have a hard time thinking about baseball...

Lots of angles

Has anyone looked at the numbers from the combined games so far?

It might be completely anecdotal but the ball seems juicy

It’s odd they aren’t arguing they can just wear masks and socially distance and be protected huh? Seems odd everyone in Canada isn’t masked up since everyone has handled it so much better than the US. It’s odd restaurants and whatever else would even be open for them to go to since, again, everyone else handled it so much better than the US. Gee, the narratives fall apart pretty quickly doesn’t it?

SF Giants: Brandon Belt, Evan Longoria not ‘realistic’ options for Opening Night vs. Dodgers
Injured SF Giants corner infielders Evan Longoria and Brandon Belt won’t play on Opening Night against the Dodgers

Even then, there isn’t a play on the Dodgers (given current odds) that makes me want to strike. Might stab at a small O/U play...

lean under 8 -115 for some pizza money
