Alabama vs FSU in the championship game.. Thoughts?

FSU is the only team in the country (besides LSU) that can match up with Bama athlete to athlete. That said, with 5 weeks to prepare, nobody is beating Bama in Pasadena. Bama haters/fatiguers need to hope we lose to LSU/Auburn/East Champ

Bama -4. Those past championships gotta give them more then a fg. As good as he is Jameis still a freshman QB for FSU.

still think Ducks were robbed in that game. Skov fumble recovery was iffy, closer to 50-50 I thought, and the DPI call to bail out Hogan on a horrible INT was crap. And in a one score game, yeah, those plays make a difference, and they kept Oregon's defense on the field so Stanford could run the ball 8000 times and shorten the game.

nice to see a national championship contender had Elway Night working against them. fair. Koala did not like.

Anyway, the LSU game and the potential margin of victory will be a big factor. At this current time I'd say Bama -4.5, but if Bama wins by DD or more, Bama -6/6.5

you mean Baylor +8...they would jump ohio state in a heart beat!:dancing:

Think if they both win out, that's possible, but only remotely. Still some ground to make up in the BCS standings, and in that scenario OSU would probably be closing with a win over MSU which would carry some weight. Especially if the Bucks keep blowing teams out. If either Bama or FSU stumbles, think an undefeated Bucks would be in there.

doubt it. if tejas keeps winning, and loses to baylor in december, that's gonna hold more weight than a victory over sparty. especially if it's a grind-out big 10 type of game. but if tejas loses before they play baylor, think you're right.

If we played Baylor tomorrow, it might be a little difficult. With 5 weeks to prepare and in a championship scenario, I like our chances. If Bama is able to make it back, I don't think you can overlook the fact that 80% of the roster has played in a national championship game before, and all but a couple of staff have prepared for one. Anything can happen in one game certainly, but given Alabama's experience with the preparation and the game itself, I don't see anyone doing it better.

Also, with teams like Oregon and Baylor, I think we see their opponents too often give up hope of stopping them on offense and they plan to try to outscore them, which ends up working in Baylor/Oregon's favor. There's not many teams that make a concerted effort on defense to dictate the game anymore. We saw one last night that played tough and tackled well, and they kept Oregon scoreless for 2.5 quarters. FSU and Bama are teams that can be explosive on offense, but they have defenses that will do everything they can to assert their will on the opposing offense. The talking heads like to say that Bama/Saban is susceptible to the no huddle fast break offenses, but the reality is that teams like LSU pose more problems on a consistent basis than the spread teams. Bama has lost to 2 of those teams in the last 6 years. They were quarterbacked by Cam Newton and Johnny Manziel. And both of those games could have been victories for Alabama. Auburn with the hurry up offense without Cam has scored 0, 21, 0, and 0 points on offense. Yet, LSU who has never run that type of offense is, but is 2-3 against Bama in the regular season, and each game has been close and turned on one play. FSU is built similarly and I think would be the toughest opponent for Alabama. I think the line would be around where it was for the Texas game, Bama -4.5.

totally agree with everything you said. nobody prepares better than saban and that bama staff, i merely meant that athlete for athlete, think baylor can match up with bama.

At the skill positions definitely. Not sure about the lines and LBs though

i have the baylor defense ranked higher than most probably, but they don't have to go against a real rushing attack, like you mentioned in a previous post. think baylor would struggle more vs an LSU/BAMA/Stanford type team than an ou team that played outside of their preferred gameplan. But i do believe that the baylor receivers, before the tevin reese injury, would really give the bama secondary fits. think it'd be a pretty tight game.

I don't buy it....MSU would only be the second ranked opponent that OSU played all year! Baylor would of played 3...and if texas is ranked at the time...4 plus they crushed a #10 team in the country. I don't personally get that argument but respect your opinion.

Brad Edwards was on SportsCenter this morning saying that if Ohio St remains unbeaten, that it will carry a certain cache with the voters in the coaches poll that know how hard it is to go undefeated back to back years. Saw on Twitter today that said something like Tennessee is playing it's 5th straight top 10 team and that Ohio St has played 5 top 10 teams since 2006

Also think the shady NCAA would find a way to squeeze an undefeated Ohio State in there ahead of an undefeated Baylor if it was close.

FSU might have the same talent at the skill positions, but overall depth and on defense, bama has more. Plus they have a better coach.

Bama -6, total 55

I think this is about right.

I don't like this match up because it is the first national championship game in 7 years that I won't be able to unload on. I've kind of gotten accustomed to that money.

Florida State and a fully healthy UGA only teams in america that can play with Bama. Since that latter is terrible now; I would say they make Bama hover around 6 or 7. I am personally convinced the best two teams by far in the country are FSU and Bama and i dont think its close.

Of course it will be closer than some bcs title games, but bama will win because they have better coaches, they get better and better as the season progresses every year, saban will have 5 weeks to prepare for jaboo, and fsu players will probably be on the take in some fashion.

May see different this weekend...
