2022 Texas Rangers-Entire Season

Pretty tough to find an everyday shortstop that stays in single digits for errors in a season, so I'll cut him some defensive slack as long as his bat is there.

For sure. I have no clue how he is as a fielder. My guess is next year when i think his offensive numbers will prob take off nobody will care, this 1st year with a new team under a monster deal always seem tough for guys,,, seems like their 2nd season once they settled in is usually when they get back to or even exceed their past production.

Pretty tough to find an everyday shortstop that stays in single digits for errors in a season, so I'll cut him some defensive slack as long as his bat is there.
he’s never been a great defensive player but he doesn’t put in extra time to try and get better
from what I’ve heard is he’ll be doing some work this off season
I’d say for a everyday SS 10 errors should be the max

Indians posted a 5 spot in the top of the sixth and we went on to lose 6-3 dropping our record to 65-85

Gray was solid throwing 5 innings gave up 1 hit 1 run which was not earned walked 1 struck out 1

Hearn was terrible (L 6-8) 0.1 gave up 6 hits 5 runs all of them earned walked none struck out none
I’m giving him a pass here because he’s been so good the last few months
he could be tired he’s thrown 95 innings this season

Barlow, Santana and Tinoco all threw scoreless innings

we are 3-7 in our last ten games
ten games left and I don’t see us winning more than 4 of them, maybe…

the “powers that be” told Beasley yesterday he won’t be given the managers job for the 2023 season
they do want him to stay on but not sure what he’ll do

don’t be surprised if Donny Baseball gets a long look

took us six pitchers but we won 5-0

It was the first win in our history in which a single player posted five or more RBIs to account for all of the club's runs

Marty gets the ball tonight

Marty gave us seven solid innings but we lost, final score was 3-1 dropping our record to 66-88

Perez seven innings gave up five hits three runs all of them earned
he threw 102 pitches and has two more scheduled starts as a Ranger
I do think they’ll just give him one more start though
he’s given us 31 starts and has a 12-7 record his ERA is 2.93
he earned $4 million this year & I expect him to ask for four years at $56 million ($14 million per year)
I’d be furious if we don’t get him back and I’d say we’re 80-20 that we do
he really wants to stay

Barlow threw one scoreless inning

Josh Jung 1-4 drove in our only run .229

Josh Smith 0-2
Semien 1-4
Lowe 2-4 .305
Calhoun, Heim & Taveras all went 0-3

Thompson 1-3

struck out 7 times went 1-5 with RISP and left 3 on base

we were leading 9-8 heading to the bottom of the ninth & once again our bullpen puked it up
final score was 10-9 our record now stands at 66-89

Gray wasn’t good in his 5 innings he gave up 8 hits 6 runs all of them earned walked 3 struck out 5 and he gave up 3 HR’s

Semien went 2-5 drove in 4 he hit his 25th & 26th HR’s he’s now got 82 RBI’s batting .255

Lowe 1-6 drove in 1 batting .304 he hit his 26th HR
Garcia 1-5 drove in 1 batting .250 he hit his 26th HR
Huff 2-4 drove in 1 he hit his 4th HR
Calhoun 1-1 drove in 1
Thompson 2-5
Jung 0-3

struck out 12 times went 1-6 with RISP and left 7 on base

Otto gets the ball tonight in Anaheim

we managed only 5 hits, scored one run & we lost 4-1

Semien 0-4
Lowe 0-4 .302

Jung 0-4 .208
Taveras and Thompson both 0-3

struck out a record high 16 times for this season went 1-6 with RISP and left 5 on base

Otto could be a decent 4/5 starter for us next year, he has posted a 3.75 ERA over 11 starts since the beginning of August, lowering his season ERA from 5.50 to 4.72

Ragans (puke) gets the ball for us tonight

we are staggering to the finish line, final score was 3-2 dropping our record to 66-91
we’ve lost four in a row and only mustered two hits

Ragans was good 5.0 gave up 4 hits 1 run which was earned walked 1 struck out 2
Tinoco 1 inning gave up 1 hit one run which was earned
Hernandez (L 2-3) (BS 2) 1 inning gave up 1 hit one run which was earned
Moore one scoreless inning

Lowe 1-3 drove in our only runs as he hit his 27th HR a two run blast .302

Garcia, Heim, Jung, Smith & Taveras all went 0-3
Seager 0-4
Semien 1-4
Thompson 0-2
Calhoun 0-1

struck out 10 more times that’s 26 in the first two games

Suarez (Angels) opened the game with six perfect innings

happy that Chipnotized going to win his under bet

this team wasn’t built for success this year and we have SO many off season questions to answer
starting with Perez
very doubtful we’ll be competitive in 2023

Miller gets the ball this afternoon then the Yankees head to town for the final four games of the year

Thanks Lefty...worst I can do now is push.

I'm surrounded by Jays fans up here and I'm envious of their playoff excitement...I hope we get a chance to see the Rangers in the post season before the decade is out.

Thanks Lefty...worst I can do now is push.

maybe just maybe in 2026

NO push for you a definite win…

and we shit the bed again, this time we give up six in the first and we lose 8-3
losers of five in a row and we are now 2-8 in our last 10
record stands at 66-92

Lowe 1-3 .302
Garcia 1-4
Thompson 0-4

went 0-5 with RISP and left 9 on base

Marty gets the ball for possibly the last time as a Ranger tomorrow night

we lost our 6th in a row, final score was 3-1
dropping our record to 66-93
1-9 over our last 10 not much to say

Marty pitched well but took the L over his 6 innings (L 12-8) he gave up 5 hits 1 run which was earned walked 5 struck out 2
Perez’s final numbers for the year:
2.89 ERA over 196.1 innings
It’s just the 12th time a Rangers pitcher has ended a season with a qualifying ERA below 3.00, and he joins Yu Darvish in 2013 as the only Texas starters to have a sub-3.00 ERA with at least 195 innings

Barlow & Tinoco each pitched one scoreless inning
Hernandez 1 inning gave up 2 hits 2 runs which were both earned and gave up 2 HRs

Calhoun who won’t be back next season drove in our only run 0-3 .198

Seager & Semien both went 0-4
Garcia, Lowe & Thompson all went 0-3
Heim & Jung both 1-3
Jung .195
Josh Smith 0-2 .196

struck out 9 times went 0-2 with RISP and left 1 on base

Gray pitches GM1 and our bullpen will stink up GM2

this season can’t end soon enough

not even sure why any fan comes to watch these last few games
this afternoon we lost our 7th in a row final score was 5-4 our record now stands at 66-94

Gray 6 innings gave up 4 hits 3 runs all of them earned walked none struck out 3 and gave up 2 HR’s

Burke 1.1 (L 7-5) (BS 5) gave up 4 hits 2 runs which were both earned and gave up a HR
Santana 0.2 and Hernandez 1.0 scoreless inning

Garcia 1-3 he drove in 2 as he hit his 27th HR
Jung 1-4 drove in 2

Semien 0-5
Seager 2-4
Lowe 1-3 .301
Josh Smith 0-3 .193
Tavares 2-4
Plawecki 1-3
Thompson 0-3
Calhoun 0-1

struck out 8 times went 3-9 with RISP and left 6 on base

Tinoco will go through the motions for 1 or 2 innings then anyone could come in

Judge still at 61

Judge hits #62 and we win 3-2 our record is now 67-94
was a fun moment when Tinoco grooved his pitch to him
stadium was the loudest it’s been the entire season

Tinoco one inning gave up 3 hits 1 run which was earned walked 1 struck out 2 and he gave up the historic HR to Judge

Allard (W 1-2) 4 innings gave up 2 hits 1 run which was earned walked 2 struck out 6 and gave up a HR
Hearn threw 3 scoreless innings
Moore (S 4) threw 1 scoreless inning

Taveras 1-3 drove in 2 as he hit his 5th HR a two run bomb
Garcia 1-3 drove in 1
Lowe 1-3 batting .301
Jung & Smith both went 1-3
Calhoun, Huff & Thompson all went 0-3
Semien 1-4

struck out 11 times and went 1-5 with RISP and left 1 on base

Otto takes to the hill for the last game of yet another disappointing season
he will pitch well

a full report card will be written up on Friday will include a look at the 2023 season outlook

we beat a listless Yankees team 4-2 to end our season with a 68-94 record
funny part is in the post game pressers Beasley and others said “glad we ended the season with a two game win streak”
we were 3-7 over our last 10 and before we won our last two we had lost seven in a row

2022 there was talk of a turnaround because we signed Seager & Semien WRONG
Seager didn’t play in our last game which was very surprising, I’d be willing to bet he’s got a injury that will need post season surgery
our team is very good at hiding these

Otto (W 7-10) threw 77 pitches over his 6 innings gave up 4 hits 2 runs both earned walked 2 struck out 5 and gave up a HR

Moore, Rodriguez and Santana all threw a scoreless inning
Moore recorded his 5th save

Lowe 1-1 ended the season batting .302
he hit 27 HRs and drove in 76
IMO he was the teams MVP

Semien 1-4 drove in 1
.248 he hit 26 HR’s and drove in 83 stole 25 bases he played in 161 games
he started the year awful but had a nice run and he comes to the park everyday ready to play
he’s a career .255 hitter so average will never be that good
I like his mentality and every player should be prepared like him
he’ll never be a team leader but is a role model

Seager ended the year with 33 HR’s and drove in 83 stole 3 bases and had a .772 OPS batted .245
he has a career BA of .287 he was 42 points below his average
his defense sucks and he needs to work on it
I’m not happy he’s part of the team but he’s not going anywhere so I’ll just shut up about him

Garcia he hit 27 HR’s and drove in 101 batted .250 with a OPS of .756
went 1-4

I’m no fan of his at all, he’s WAY too much of a look at me player
IMO he’s a very nice trade piece for a quality starter

Jung 1-4 drove in 1 he hit only .198 since his call up he got 204 AB’s hit 5 HR’s and drove in only 14
I really don’t think he’s mentally ready for the big leagues yet
he lacks work ethic and thinks he’s entitled to be a everyday player
our owner & Chris Young has deemed him our 3B of the future so he’ll start the 2023 season as that but I’m saying he’s sent down by memorial day

Josh Smith 1-3 batted .197
this kid can play 3B, SS & LF he’s great defensively BUT needs to hit the ball he got 213 AB’s hit 2 HRs and drove in 16 stole 4 bases
a quality utility player for sure & I hope we don’t trade him but I think we will

Heim 2-4 drove in 1
Culberson 1-4 drove in 1 as he hit his 2nd HR a solo shot
Thompson 2-4 drove in 1

Beasley is a very nice & religious man
he will be offered to stay on with the team but I think he goes elsewhere
he really wants a managers job

Chris Young is in for a very very very long offseason we need starting pitchers and we need a closer

as of today we are a 65-67 win team for next year

Astros will be good
Mariners will be good
Angels will be much better as will the A’s

so unless we get minimum 2 starters then we have nothing to look forward to again in 2023

tomorrow my final report card comes out

lockers cleaned out, yet the stink of another wasted season still linger in the air
it’s like 20,000 people all farted at the same time

we made a few moves yesterday, co-pitching coach Doug Mathis was given his walking papers & Brendan Sagara will get a position somewhere in our minor league system

1B coach Josh Johnson will return to an on the field Minor League player development job

The remaining members of our coaching staff
Beasley, 3B coach Corey Ragsdale, offensive coordinator Donnie Ecker and hitting coaches Tim Hyers and Seth Conner they’ve all been offered the opportunity to return to the Major League staff with roles TBD until we hire our new manager

2022 Texas Rangers Report Card:

owner: Ray Davis F
he allowed Jon Daniels to call ALL the shots & this is the reason why we’ve stunk it up for the past few years
Chris Young will just be a puppet because Mr Davis will be pulling a Jerry Jones this off-season
Marty Perez is the key to our off season & if he goes elsewhere then the 2023 season & beyond will be awful and Mr Davis can put the blame on CY

Tony Beasley: C+
he was thrown into a can’t win position & he did try very hard but the old expression of if you put lipstick on a pig it’s still a pig
could he be a MLB manager? for sure
even though the public comments are “Tony will remain with the team” once Mr Davis hires our next manager Tony will go elsewhere

1B- Nate Lowe A+
593 AB’s
.302
27 HRs
76 RBI’s
.850 OPS
he played in 157 games & proved to the entire leagues he’s a everyday player with huge upside still

2B- Marcus Semien C
.248
26 HR’s
83 RBI’s
.733 OPS
25 stolen bases
got off to a rotten start in his first 45 games he batted .196 and hit only one HR
his last 115 batted .268 with 25 HRs he scored 101 runs

SS- Corey Seager D
he ended up the season going 24-122 over his last 30 games that’s a .197 batting average
even though he had a career high 33 HR’s he had a career low batting average .245 & a on base percentage of .317
he MUST work on his defense

3B- Josh Jung D**
yes he only had 98 AB’s that’s why the asterisk
.204 BA
5 HR
14 RBI
.653 OPS

Josh is supposed to be our “savior” and that’s a tough headline to live up to
he needs to grow up & respect the players that played before him
2023 he’ll be the starting 3B but I’m saying by memorial day he’ll be back in AAA
I feel he needs to be humbled for the first half of the season

LF- Bubba Thompson C+
Bubba is quick, I mean really quick and over his 170 AB’s he did well
he played 35 games in LF, 9 in CF & 10 in RF
he will get a starting corner spot in 2023
lots of upside for him & he should thrive next year

CF- Leody Taveras B
he played 93 games in CF
batted .261 in 314 AB’s hit 5 HR’s and drove in 34 stole 11 bases
Leody flew under the radar all year, he’s a very good outfielder but I think we sign a big name in center meaning Bubba and he will split LF duties in 2023
now if we don’t sign a CF then he’ll be our everyday CF

RF- Adolis Garcia B+
I’ll start off his report card by saying I don’t like him at all, he’s a “look at me” type of player
he’s got huge potential & by that I mean 35-40 HRs and knocking in 125+ runs
I just hope our next manager gets him to tone it down a lot

605 AB
.250 BA
27 HR
101 RBI
25 stolen bases
.756 OPS

he played 93 games in RF & 57 in CF

Adolis will be our everyday RF or CF next year it all depends on what OF’er we sign this off-season & yes we WILL sign a big name

C- Jonah Heim B+
Jonah caught 111 games and did a very solid job
406 AB’s a career high hit
16 HRs & knocked in 48 stole 2 bases .697 OPS
he’ll be our C again next year for sure, he’ll show a bit more pop in his bat and will hit 20+ HRs

Cole Calhoun - F
Cole was a bust (thanks Jon Daniels) he hit .196 in 388 AB’s
won’t be back

Charlie Culberson - C+
only had 115 AB’s
Charlie is a nice utility player & I hope is still on the team next year but he’s 33
if not with us he will get a job elsewhere

Josh Smith C-
Josh is a 3B but with Jung now here no shot there
he plays a very solid SS as well but we’ve got Errors Seager there and can also play LF but we’re crowded there
his biggest problem is his bat, he had a disappointing BA in 213 chances he hit only .197
2 HR’s 16 RBIs and stole 4 bases had a pathetic OPS of .556
Josh is a great kid and played 4 different positions for us 2B,SS,3B & LF
his future with the big team is murky, all depends on what/who we sign this winter
I really like him but he needs to step up big time with his bat

Pitchers:

Martin Perez A+++++
had a career year & was an all star
is a FA and wants badly to stay with the team

I’d be shocked & outraged if we don’t sign him to a 3/4 year contract
BUT he’ll get a HUGE offer from the LA Angels

our staff posted these numbers;
we finished 22nd in MLB with a 4.22 team ERA this season
a slight improvement from 23rd (4.79 ERA) in 2021
we finished 15-35 in one-run games
mostly because of our bullpen down the stretch

Glenn Otto C-
did show improvement towards the end of the season

Taylor Hearn B
once he became a long man he thrived as a starter he was CRAP

Jon Gray C-
spent lots of time on the DL and only threw 127.1 innings
7-7 record 3.96 ERA
is a sort of decent 2 or 3 starter

Brock Burke B+
threw 82.1 innings over 52 games struck out 90

Dennis Santana F
63 games 5.22 ERA 58.2 innings 54 strikeouts

Matt Moore B+
63 games 1.95 ERA 74 innings 83 K’s
at the age of 33 had a great year

Jose Leclerc F- - - -
39 games 2.83 ERA 47.2 innings 54 Ks
Daniels thought he was our closer of the future, he’s NOT
in a perfect world he’s not back with the team next year

I want to thank each & everyone of you from CTG who read my thread this year and over the past several years

Next year I’ll try and be more positive even though we won’t be competitive again
especially if we lose Marty to the Angels

Enjoy your winter and when/if we sign anyone I’ll let y’all know

quick update:

today we meet with Martin Perez and his agent

we have about $85 million on our payroll for the 2023 season

there’s a $6 million club option on Leclerc
NO way we pay him that & I personally hope we show him the door
but CY & Mr Davis like him so maybe a $4 million dollar offer with option for 2024

Mitch Garver & Taylor Hearn are both up for arbitration
Hearn is a must keep
Garver nah…

Well Lefty, what do you think of the Bochy hire?
I think it’s AWFUL
last thing we needed was a 67 year old washed up dish rag

here’s the tie in & why they hired this piece of shit
Chris Young was a pitcher for the padres in 2006 & they became very friendly
CY is another Jon Daniels
