In the NFL I think the extra point is always kicked except for in ot if it's not necessary.

Right, there was a discussion becasuse it happened twice a few weeks ago, I think those were hail mary situations. Wouldn't the scoring team, Navy, have the option of doing it if they wanted even though it didn't matter for the official outcome, it would seem it would be their choice....Sounds like it is the official's choice or it is an actual rule?
