***World Series In-Game***

He was at 96 or so pitches. Can't dissect it too much

He got let off the hook quite a bit tonight, not sharp but got the job done

Total confession: I can't identify pitches at all. I've never known how to do it.
MPH is the best way for me

or when the square isn't blocking the catcher's fingers to actually see him go 1 fastball 2 curve 3 slider 4 changeup with a wiggle 5 something exotic

MPH tells you FB or not

From what I can tell 4 seamers move left to right and are also used for high heat

2 seamers tend to dip, hard to differentiate from a splitter for me

Sliders move right to left, Curves move top to bottom

We all know a change up

Wow first time the patience got ruined, terrible half inning for StL
plan worked to get into the bullpen, but i guess when a guy throws 100 and you think you can just sit fastball you swing earlier in the count

1 = 4-seam should be straight but Burnes throws a cutter as his normal fastball
2 = curve sideways but more down and slower
3 = slider slower than fastball but looks like one except darts to glove side of pitcher
4 = changeup slower and meant to drop but also some move opposite of a slider so going to arm side of pitcher

Yet one of the best pitchers to wear the Snakes threads made his living on sinkers. Knew it was coming but what can you do?

Kinda like how Hoffman's change up was a ton different than 98% of the league's change ups

Rivera only threw a cutter and was somehow good enough with it while Jansen learned it from him and now throws a slider

Crazy back in the day those cutters were considered screw balls

Seems like the way these guys torque their wrists a Carpal Tunnel epidemic might be in play down the road

A cutter moves the opposite way a screwball does.

If you're screwball is also your slider you are correct!

A screwball is the opposite of a slider. A cutter and a slider are two very similar pitches. You throw the cutter a bit harder and it tends to stay on the same plane while a slider drops some.

Cutter: moves out from an inside position from a right hander to a lefty
Screwball: Moves OUT from an inside position from a righty to a lefty
Slider: Moves in from a righty to a lefty and often gets destroyed

Don't be that guy that thinks your slider can get past a major league hitter batting oppo unless you're a fkn stud

That's not what a cutter does

Cutter easier to throw, why it's become popular

Two seamer can move like nuts with very little effort

Exactly what it's supposed to do lol

I mean if you throw it wrong, we're on a tangent

But inspire me doctor

teeeeeeeeeeeed to the rescue

Gonna go with me on this one champ

Cutter for Mariano always started inside to lefties and came back to catch the inside corner

If you think otherwise, just another one where you're right. Per usual.

Let's just say I'll bet a million dollars that I'm right. Now you tell me how much you'll bet.

I actually was going to try to drive to Vegas to meat up but that was really stupid in retro

Getting old is a muthafucker, all those years living high on the hog have come back in memorandum
