Most coaches (and teams) do not change their stripes just because it’s playoffs. We had a whole season to see Miami struggle against teams above .500. In my opinion, this is largely because they refuse to commit to the run game, even though they have two elite running backs. The game last night was close until Miami abandoned the run and decided to throw on every down even though they were still in the game. They did it against Buffalo last week and have done it multiple times this season. Cleveland defense has given up tons of points OTR all season. They were gouged again yesterday. Don’t get fooled into thinking teams are going to change things drastically or turn it on just because of the fresh start that is the playoffs. Now there are exceptions (see Bill Cowher’s Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005 when they ran the ball all season until the playoffs and came out chucking it all over the field and won the SB), but it takes a good coach with big balls to do that.
