What did ya learn on blackout Saturday?

Duke led 38-7 at one point late 2nd qrt. 38-14 HT, 41-23 F. Duke blk'd a punt for TD. GT outgained them 379-373, but about 75% of GT's yards were after Duke had built a 38-7 lead and Duke put it on cruise control in the 2nd H. Duke DE Victor Dimukeje had 3 sacks, 2 QBH, 1 forced fumble and disrupted a number of other plays.

Virginia had a 318-265 total yard edge, ran 72-52 plays and owned a 34-26 TOP edge, but could not score any TDs in their 17-9 loss. Virginia had drives get to the M24 (SOD), M21 (missed FG), M08 (FG), M20 (fumble), M04 (FG) and M27 (FG). Only 3 of Miami's 9 possessions got into UVA territory, the 3 that did were all 70+y drives ending in scores. Miami had 78 yards on their opening possession, but would net just 13y the rest of the 1st H.

Clemson led 42-0 3rd Q (including a Tiger pick-six) before FSU got on the board. 1st H yards were 367-63

Virginia Tech led 17-6 HT, on their opening drive VT went 13p 81y, but were stopped 3x inside the 5 and had to settle for a FG. It was 10-0 when Rhode Island got a 51y pass to set up a 41y FG, VT's other TD in the half was a 37y down-the-side line strike and RI added a 36 yarder to close the 1st H. RI went 8p 75y to open the 3rd Q with a TD and 2pt good to make it just 17-14! VT went 93y TD drive and RI added another FG....24-17. RI was SOD at the V19 4th Q. VT stretched it to 31-17, then kicked a late FG. VT did outgain them 485-310 (Hokies kicked two FGs from the 5 yard line). VT DB Reggie Floyd (2nd leading tackler) was ejected for targeting 2nd H.

I want to take the "U", but cant seem to pull the trigger.

Here is some CUSA team stuff:

CUSA

Charlotte RB Benny LeMay had career high 234 yards from scrimmage (ssn high 144y rushing). Charlotte led 10-7, but FIU took a 21-10 lead. It was 21-17 when a key play happened with under 3min left in the half, FIU QB Morgan was sacked which would’ve created a 3rd-and-14, but he fumbled and FIU not only recovered it, but ran 34y into Charlotte territory (replay reviewed the play and upheld fumble) – a play that should’ve been a positive for Charlotte turned into an aid in FIU scoring a TD with just :25 left in the 2nd Q 28-17 HT. FIU held the ball for nearly 2:1 TOP advantage in the 2nd H with three 70+y FIU TD drives. Charlotte only had 3 2nd H possession and could only manage 1 TD out of that. 48-23 F. FIU was an amazing 9-of-11 3rd down (Charlotte was 30%). Charlotte has recorded 19 sacks through 6 games this year, matching their total for all of 2018.

Marshall tied school record for 2nd most sacks in a game at 8 and Darius Hodge tied for most single game sacks with 4.5. The score was just 17-10 HT, but Marshall had dominated with a 13-4 FD and 233-106 TY edge. Marshall won 31-17 and finished the game at the OD09. 10 of ODU’s pts were set up off great KO returns, they had a FG “drive” in which they did not gain a single yard and a 34y TD drive after another KO return. ODU Blake Watson had 166y on 3 KO returns. Marshall finished with 444-206 TY (5.7-4.0) and 27-11 FD edges.

FAU didn’t do much early, MTSU scored first, but had the xpt blk’d and returned 98y for 2 the other way 6-2. MTSU was trying for a 2 score lead when they threw INT in the EZ for touchback and FAU was able to drive and took a 9-6 lead. MTSU would lead 13-12 HT with a strong 274-192 yard advantage. MTSU went 3-and-out twice to start the 3rd Q then were SOD at the F32. FAU would lead 22-13 entering the 4th Q. MTSU drove to the F16, but would miss a FG. MTSU would then throw INTs on back-to-back possessions (one of which FAU converted into a short field TD). Their final drive got to the F16 when the game ended. MTSU had a 459-364 TY edge (6.5-5.1), but were -3 TOs. FAU won 28-13.

Army went 3-and-out on three of their four 1st H possessions. Their other drive was a punt from the W36 (they had converted a 4th-and-1 on the drive to the W35, but got a 15y unsportsman like penalty ruining the drive). In the 1st H Army failed to convert a single 3rd down. WKU on the other hand drove 11p 70y, were SOD at the A27 and missed a 45y FG (also overthrew a wide open receiver that would’ve been a TD). Toppers only led 7-0 HT. WKU would extend the lead to 17-0, Army would miss a FG and got their only score of the game with less than 2minutes left. Army was held to 137y rushing, half their season average and WKU outgained them 365-208 (4.5-4.3) with a 26-10 FD edge. Storey 21-30-140-0-0. 4.6 ypa. He was the #2 rusher 17att 62y2TD.

Southern Miss and North Texas were nip-and-tuck 1st H with each team trading scores with no team having more than a 1-6 pt advantage until SM got a TD with under 1min left in the half for a 28-20 HT lead. NT missed a FG to open the 3rd, then SM would score 17 straight after HT to take a 45-20 lead. North Texas leading rusher Tre Siggers (500y on the ssn) was injured in the 1st H and QB Fine was injured in the 3rd Q. Southern Miss had a 400y passer, 100y rusher and 100y receiver (nearly 200) in their 45-27 win. SM did have a 12y “drive” after an INT. SM outgained NT 563-378 (7.7-6.0). NT was just 2-of-12 3rd down (SM was 46%).

Louisville and WF combined for 121 pts and 1188 yards in regulation. LV also had some big ST plays, with a KO ret TD, a KO ret to the W15 and a punt ret to the W13, both led to TDs. WF QB Newman was injured in the 1st H, but played on until Hartman had to replace him. Hartman went 9-15-172 in first appearance of season. LV had leads of 14-0 and 28-7 at points in the 1st H with the HT score being 31-21. LV led by 17 twice in the 2nd H before extending the lead to 52-31 in the 4th Q. WF got within 55-52, but LV was running out the clock and broke a QB run on 4th-and-1 for 41y (if he had just gotten the first down and slide down they could’ve killed the clock). This gave WF another chance and Deacs responded…62-59, their final onside kick was recovered by LV, but it was very very close as the ball wasn’t secured initially (replay upheld LV’s recovery). WF recovered 2 of 4 onside kicks. WF had a 40-22 FD advantage, outrushed LV 245-225 (5.3-5.1) and had a 668-520 TY edge (6.5-7.5). WF lost 3 TOs, LV lost 2, each team converted one TO apiece into a short field TD.

S Cal continues to cover and to play tough teams down to the wire on the road with backup QBs. They are in the driver's seat for the S division title of the Pac 12 and play tough in the 4th quarter of every game and all it seems to do is convince people they are a bad team and Helton is a bad coach.

They got a couple of horrendous calls against N Dame or they might have won that one. To me it's an impossibility not a single ref saw Kelly standing at least 10 yards onto the field right next to the players during the on-sides attempt at the end. I think they saw it and just decided to ignore it. Too bad because they looked like they had more left in the tank than N Dame did

BYU led 13-0 and 16-7 HT. 23-14 3rd Q then BYU punter mishandled the snap giving USF the ball at the B23 and USF cut it to 23-21 then USF took the 27-23 lead (2pt no good) mid 4th and hung on from there. Late 4th BYU’s got to the SF13 with a 1st down, but 4 plays later they were SOD at the SF10. BYU D held with all 3 timeouts got the ball back with just 1:09 left but 4 incompletions and a sack on their final 5 plays ended the game. BYU starting QB Jaren Hall was knocked out of the game 4th Q He went 15-23-148-1-0, leading rusher 16att83y net rushing-TD. Backup Romney 6-10-73-0-0. USF D got 6 sacks and 13 TFL. BYU standout RG Tristen Hoge did not travel. BYU made 51, 22 and 28 yard FGs (making their RZ attempts just 50% TDs) Cougs missed a 39y FG. BYU outgained them 439-315 (4.9-5.4).
