Most obvious play of the week is the pats.

Playing Devils advocate. DD home dogs are hitting at a very high clip. I just cannot see how Brady doesn't come out and throw a minimum of 3 TDs. I'll be hard pressed to not be on the pats TT over. I don't think Tom just sat at home on his couch.

this coupled with the pats being shut out last week at home vs the bills....hoodie won't be very pleased this week

Wait a second. The colts don't have a bye after going to London? WTF. This has to be the first time....

personally I think the bears are the better football team

Yep, it's the first time. Pretty shitty for Indy, that's for sure.

Losers at Wembley have staggered to a combined 72-150-1 record after the London game over the past nine years.

8 of the 9 losing coaches have been fired during or after the season

Chicago are a more complete team than Indy, and the situation obviously is silly. Hell, saying Chicago are more complete than anything more than a hot dog is silly as well.

Raiders/Chargers game should see a ton of points. The offense looks incredible. The defense not so much. I'm tired of Reggie Nelson taking bad angles. That Steve Smith TD was embarrassing for our defense.

Raiders gotta take care of business. In years past, these are the games that we usually lose. Would be awesome to win and be 4-1. I don't think -4 is a bad line. Leaning Raiders.

Can virtually guarantee the masses will be loading up on Brady.

I was originally, but the play seems way too obvious. I may be wrong but I believe Seattle vs SF was the only DD fave cover this season. Not sure I can lay that on the road Tom's first game back.

yeah im gonna be on cleveland. if refs didnt call that insane taunting on Pryor for giving the ball to an official, parkey makes 1 of 3 fgs, and the refs dont magically see a fumble recovery that didnt happen, the browns could very well be 3-1. 10 points is a ton.

Also, huge spot, imo, for Atlanta to come back down to earth. Will be looking to play denver.

Agree on Clev, but not sure about Atlanta. A real measuring stick game for them playing AFC elite (and SB champs) on the road. Den due to come back to earth a bit too. I'm expecting a close game here and points could come into play. Overall a tough week IMO.

I'll be all over Minny at anything 6 or less. They are good! Houston is not!

I think you are right, NBA...I saw this last night and was floored. I am almost positive every team after the London game has had a bye week since they implemented the overseas games.

Saw yesterday Bears were getting 5...against a team with a decimated O Line, D Line, no Secondary and who has traveled across the Atlantic Ocean less than 6 days before their next game. Horrible spot for the Colts. NFL did them no favors here and I like the kid back for the Bears who showed some life on Sunday...if Hoyer doesn't hand the ball over multiple times, it's gonna be hard for me to not play Bears plus points.

However if Cutler starts, he's such a buzzkill, gutless fuck that I may just pass on the game. Give Hoyer this...dude has limited talent, but he doesn't have a lack of heart, just a major lack of talent...and anyone against that Colts shitshow on D can look good. First spot I circled when looking at schedule yesterday.

Cutler may start?

Can't they just give him his paycheck and let him stay hurt? Everyone knows thats all he wants, can't remember a football player with less heart and interest in the game.

Ryan Leaf. More recently Johnny Manziel.

Just making a generalization, Tito. I hadn't read anything about him potentially starting...the guy should just be cut now to rid the team of the cancerous presence that he is. His team in Chicago is ready to end...everyone would agree on that.

Few quick thoughts

Lions a home dog off two divisional losses in a row including the last one as a favorite. Dogged at home against a rookie QB, happily take the points. I could be wrong about this specific game, but do you honestly expect the Eagles to win 13 games? Because if you think they win this road NFC game, that's more or less what you're saying.

Painful to hit submit but Jets getting more than 7 points may be worthwhile, keyword may. Need to see how practices / health shape up this week.

Vikings haven't given up 17 points yet this season, gonna just keep taking opponent team total unders. Don't see Osweiler behind that line being the team that snaps it.

Get well spot for the Colts, worst constructed roster in the league but this is a spot where just the QB is enough.

Ravens off an upset loss, Redskins 2 wins in a row, DMV bragging rights. Expect the Ravens to show up.

Cincy should win this game but was hoping for a dog ML, probably staying away now.

Rams off straight up wins as a 6, 4 and 8 point dog, now they come back home and Case Keenum is favored against a team that has some mojo going. Rex as a road dog is a nice spot too, definitely will be on Buffalo.

Raiders off 2 straight 1pm wins, now a home favorite against a really good QB off a few ugly losses who is traditionally a really good road dog in the division. SD for me.

raems i am clearly a homer here and i am so interested in the detroit/philly game. normally if i did not have rooting interest i would lean detroit coming off a division road loss. but at the same time, philly had a bye. and are we sure detroit is competent? their only win was against the colts who are now showing their true colors as a bottom 5 team. going to be a very interesting game

very tough card overall. i want to take the points thursday night too but Bowman was the heart and soul of that Defense.

lastly, football is a very emotional game, and you know that Rex isnt the best at keeping them in check. In hsi eyes, they just won their super bowl. Is Rex the kind of coach who will be like "ok nice win, take ur day off but come tuesday we are focusing on the next game" or is he the type of asshole who is gonna be gloating and celebrating all week. i think hes the latter and think the bills let down here. Rams may be legit.

As of now looking like a 3 play card for me with Ravens, Browns and Broncos. Rams, Niners, Titans and bears are leans for now.

Jets secondary in complete shambles right now...Revis is banged up, they've got no corner oppo him that can play...the kid Pryor from Louisville has had major regression this year and this year (like the last 30 years), they CANNOT (for some reason) cover a tight end. Decker and Marshall need to play and Fitz can't be the same QB who has thrown 9 INT the last 2 games. If the Steel O Line gives him any time at all vs. the very good Jets D Line/Front 7, they will annihilate New York throwing the ball down the field. It's not even the AB factor....they have zero chance of being able to cover how Pitt uses Coates, Wheaton and Heyward-Bey (as guys to air it out down the field to)...that's not even counting AB.

Gonna be a loooooonnnngggg day for my team. Worst spot possible for them to go into.

^and yet, the line is about a point and a half short of where it should be imo, to the point where it looks almost like bait

^and yet, the line is about a point and a half short of where it should be imo, to the point where it looks almost like bait

I guess we just cap differently, Dan. I look at matchups and I don't see the Jets having a single one this week they should win other than their D Line vs. Pitt's O Line. They have a worse Head Coach, QB, RB, WR set, TE, Secondary by a mile and have home field. The Number is -7 because I don't think people realize how much of a matchup edge Pitt has in nearly every category...AND the fact that the Jets have some big-name talent, guys like Revis and BMarsh and Decker (who people know)...but all of those guys are banged up and not playing at 100%.

Steelers TT Over and probably used in teasers is how I'm approaching this as the best angles. I simply don't see 1 way the Jets win this game UNLESS they 1. Knock Ben out of the game or 2. Win the turnover battle by +2 or +3...and with a QB who's thrown 9 picks in 2 games...I'm not holding my breath.

I don't buy the whole Vegas trying to bait people angle. But that's just me.

Scarf,

First off I agree with basically everything you said about the matchup. Teasers especially look great with this as one leg.

To your last point, it has been discussed at length whether or not there is "bait" "traps" "fishy lines" etc. Here is what I have come up with and I am pretty sold on this:

First off, are there a bunch of evil bookmakers with inside information setting lines to trick us while twirling their moustaches and laughing maniacally like bond villains? No, I do not believe that to be the case. But they do know what the sharps are going to take, and how that differs from public perception. The public often overreacts to recency bias, perception, etc and tend to bet favs and dogs. Sharps have power rankings and will pounce on any bad number that the books throw out there. So I am not thinking that the books are laying a 7 with pittsburgh as an evil trap, even though 8 or 9 would have 50/50 action, i think they know if they lay over a td, the sharps will pound the underdog and they will be vulnerable to a big loss.

Thats why I agree the way to go here is teaser. Pittsburgh -1/minnesota pk looks mighty good.

this discussion is great though. just from going back and forth i am shaping out what is going to be my card for the week.

what would you like more as teh 2nd leg of that teaser, GB -1 or minny pk? Or a ML parlay of all 3 could be alright

what would you like more as teh 2nd leg of that teaser, GB -1 or minny pk? Or a ML parlay of all 3 could be alright

Honestly, I think Minny is really, really solid...but I think in this spot off a short week with a Houston team that is going to try to run and run and run and then hopefully burn the rookie corner a bunch...I'm not in love with Minnesota in a game Houston is going to try to play close to the vest. Clearly the better team, but it is also a let down spot. Plus Sam isn't this good...I'm just not buying that he's becoming a top QB just yet and he's made zero mistakes thus far...they still can't run overwhelmingly well w/o Peterson...but that D is sick. Can't kill peeps for using them, just don't like the scenario.

If I'm filling a 2-teamer with Pitt, it's probably going to be with Denver to be honest. I don't care if my dead grandma plays QB...they have a solid run game, WR who make plays and best D in league w/Minny. Atl has gotten WAY overhyped after torching a Carolina team that is not the same this year and a NO team that should be embarrassed to call what they put on the field defense.

I expect Ryan to have a shit game and them not to be able to run.

No way am I throwing GB in there...they've yet to really look good this season and 12 might be nicked up with the way he's playing. My concern isn't 12...it's the fact that the Giants 3 WR can have a field day against the GB secondary...very easily a game that NYG can win.

im not sure i see NY going into GB and winning but stranger things have happened for sure.

One thing though: Bradford is a good QB. I sat through a season of him in Philly and saw him hit receiver after receiver in the hands and have them drop it. He was coming off an injury and had an awful coach.

I know that it gets to a point where you say "enough of the excuses" but he really has had a raw deal basically his whole career. Never even a decent receiver in St Louis and Philly did him dirty. Im thrilled we got a 1st for him and love Wentz but wish nothing but the best for Bradford. I dont think hes a superstar but he could absoultely lead a team like this with a few weapons and a great d to a very deep run.

The steelers line is not bait. Pitt opened at -4.5 vs KC. What would you expect the line to be if this game was in the meadowlands? The line is fair

now that philly line is bait

Since 2003, the #Patriots have gone 33-13 ATS (71.7%) following a loss.

NE (-10.5 at CLE) currently receiving 91% of spread bets.

its a weird spot. what do you want the books to do. if they make it pk, everybody in the world is on philly. if htey make it -3 or -3.5, every sharp is going to take a fg at home against a rookie qb. remember, books want balanced MONEY not action. this could very well have 70% of the tickets on philly but the money be close to 50/50

I'm on Arizona for the Thursday night game.

Losing Bowman is hugeeeeee for the 49ers defense. Not only is he responsible for calling plays, he also makes sure all the players are in the right position, etc before the snap. Once he left the game vs Cowboys, the rush defense was comical. Ezekiel Elliott was running through holes so big...it was like a high school game. There's no way the 49ers can make the necessary adjustments by Thursday. There's absolutely no one on the defense that can replace Bowman. The roster is thin as shit due to horrible drafting and sitting on $50 Million cap space that they didn't use during the off season.

The 49ers have no home field advantage. During Sundays game I could hear the crowd chanting "Cowboys Cowboys Cowboys". Its NEVER loud when the opponent is on offense. I doubt Arizona will be effected by the crowd at all. Levi stadium is horrible and the niner fans have given up on the season. I'm not sure how many points the line is shaded towards the niners here due to home field advantage...but it shouldnt be more than 1 point.

I trust the Arizona coaching staff to do a better job getting the team prepared on a short week. Stanton has been with the team for 3 seasons now and he's familiar with the system. The Cards have a bunch of veterans who know the importance of this game...if they lose this their season is over. The Cards have issues, but for this week they will do enough to beat the niners.

I will also be on some David Johnson props...niners front 7 without Bowman is going to be pathetic. With Stanton starting, the Cards should lean on the run all night long.

Lol dwoww. Books do not want balanced money. They want as much as they can get.

If the line was philly -3 or -3.5, the masses would still bet philly. Currently it's going to be above 80% for tickets and dollars. The public sentiment on philly is thru the roof and Detroit not so much. Line should be at least -3

Brady wasn't allowed to practice with the team during the suspension...you dont think his timing will be off? He hasn't been able to practice for a month.

Right the books don't necessarily want balanced action. We talk about this every year, yet there's still people out there who think that myth is true.

What makes you say say the Bengals are a bad team though? People who actually know football call them one of the most complete teams in the league.

Andy dalton sucks. Sanu was a big loss. Their red zone offense is blah. Their backs are overrated. I'll be on Dallas.

And LOL at Cutler not being tough and having no heart. The media myth vs what his teammates actually say is still a thing?

The numbers and winning say otherwise on Dalton. Sure it was a loss, every team faces them. They've played 4 games, they can easily figure it out. Lots of backs are over rated, they have a few good ones and no great one (it seems).

On on the flip side...their defense will be the best Dallas has faced this year, and at some point they have to ask Dak to actually throw the ball downfield. It's not easy to run on Cinci so it's up to Dak to beat them? Possibly without Dez as well? Good luck with that Dallas. Dallas' defense is also pretty poor and AJ and company could have a field day. Tough to see Dallas staying in a high scoring game with Cinci.

Wow cincy is dead last in red zone offense. Of course

Do you really put that much stock in RZ offense though? The RZ itself is more a myth than anything as well. Myth isn't the best word either, but the Grantland guys have written many times on where the "scoring zone" should start, and it's not the 20. Try and find the articles, they're good reads with lots of great info and stats.

Not having the best red zone target for the first month and simultaneously working in two new receivers will do that. If Eifert gets back this week that'll stop being a thing.

Btw, you're entitled to your opinions but Dalton is an objectively good QB. Nothing since the beginning of last year supports the notion that he isn't.

bet on cincy TT over and watch the game and you'll see how frustrating it is. Good luck to cincy getting into a FG battle with the best kicker in the league

Okay sure. Then, let's see where they rank at the end of the year and see how silly it was to proclaim them as "something" 4 games into the season.

One also doesn't have to bet team totals and not get frustrated either right? Sounds like you hold some grudges when you place losing bets...that's a horrible way to go about this.

You're right about that. One doesn't have to bet TT overs.

And one doesn't have to challenge another person's opinions every chance he gets. I think dalton and the bengals are overrated. If you or anyone else doesn't go ahead and bet on them.

One doesn't have to be afraid of challenges either, and doesn't have to point it out every time someone does it to them. Don't you like to be challenged? To find out you may be wrong and learn the truth? To find out you are right even, don't you want affirmation? Isn't this a discussion? What's the point of giving opinions if all you want are nods and handshakes?
